  1. I hear on the Fighter Pilot Podcast's recent F-14 episode (highly recommended) that if they went to full burner on the cat it would damage the landing gear. MIL power only, which is plenty with the F110s.
  2. I fly RIO primarily and I can tell you, the closer a target is the harder it is to find with the RADAR. The closer the target is, the narrower the beam is as it passes them, so it has to be pointed more precisely, and the RIO's controls aren't really set up for that. That's why you have ACM modes.
  3. What I found very helpful was to map the HCU thumbwheel to an axis (upgraded warthog slew by Delta Simulations in my case.) This way you can use the HCU thumbwheel to sweep the radar up and down with the Range/Rate Gate over where you saw the target.
  4. Is anybody else' add mission button in the webgui not showing any missions?
  5. On by default in my server. I wasn't aware it could be disabled.
  6. IFLOLS/meatball. Also shows up from the back seat.
  7. Is it possible to get an absolute bearing from ownship to the target on the TID?
  8. I heard from the FPP that they got one up to (IIRC) M2.03 with bombs and a LANTIRN, but we couldn't get a above 1.2 with a 2 2 and 2 loadout. (2 54, 2 7, 2 9, and 2 tanks.
  9. Furthermore, is there any difference between selfID targets and DL targets in this regard?
  10. Is there any way to get A Magnetic Bearing to a hooked target on the TID instead of the relative bearing? I can get MB on everything else, but the one thing I need it for. Is this a limitation of the aircraft, or is there just something I don't know?
  11. Hey all. I just did a mission and had an AIM-54 shot I found odd. Is it possible that DCS doesn't check for collision often enough for the AIM-54's speed? (Mach 2.6) I remember a Wags post about issues like this a little while back, so is that what I'm seeing? For the sake of completeness, the shot was from ~20NM, so the motor had probably gone out only a few seconds before the "impact." Shot with PDSTT. Good to know the guidance is accurate, though.
  12. How does one order this? I've looked around the thread, but I can't see reading 58 pages of posts to find it.
  13. That's the trouble of learning an aircraft that hasn't been around for 10 years. The forum isn't already full of these little Q&As. I'll add a few instead of making a new thread: What does the pilot have to select for Collision steering to display? Which check is supposed to set the RIO's fuel quantity indicator to 2000lbs? What's the procedure for the RIO's "Lights check" in the startup procedure? Are the BITs in the CAP modeled? (even if they always show no errors, do they at least pretend to run) Does AutoBIT2 work, and what symbology should I look for in the TID to confirm it's done? Do I have to wait for ABIT2 to complete before starting alignment? When using stored heading alignment, do I have to enter Magnetic Variation? What does one have to do to get the TCS to lock on the ground? That's all I can remember now. I'll come back when I have more.
  14. Thought I'd share what I've made for my VF. Nothing too crazy. Note to skinners: You have to split any image that covers the Vstab and the Rudder and stretch the part of the rudder slightly.
  15. Dangit, of course, you're right. For the record, you can use mklink to create s symbolic link instead of copying files if you want to have a lot, or using a network share. A good article on it's usage: https://www.howtogeek.com/howto/16226/complete-guide-to-symbolic-links-symlinks-on-windows-or-linux/ I used a symbolic link to use the same mission files on the gamin rig and my server ;)
  16. By default: A, CTRL 7, CTRL 3, CTRL 1. You can do it pretty quick if you memorize this.
  17. Got mine (#1609) in today, took about 5 minutes to get it up and running. Works perfectly with DCS, and I the only axis tune I used was to reduce the axis a little because I don't actually have to slew that fast.
  18. Iceman is limited to simple heading, speed, and altitude changes as commanded from the back seat. So not that different from an actual stick operating meat-puppet. But in all seriousness, That's all you really need from him. Just make a mission with some tankers, AWACS, or cargo planes to practice locking up. Try using DATALINK from the ship or an AWACS to help you find targets, then turn the DL off to practice finding them yourself.
  19. Have you added files to (DCS installation directory)>Core Mods>aircraft>F14>Soundtrack?
  20. That's an old naming convention for the script call. Check the .Lua file for the updated name
  21. I have 16GB ram and ran in VR with no perf loss.
  22. Hey guys. You can launch your mission in SP to have JESTER dial in the freqs for you, and just write them down.
  23. No frame rate issues here, i7-7700K @4.2, 1080Ti, 16GB ram. Play only in VR w/ the Rift.
  24. hmm... seems I don't get them in SP anymore, either.
