  1. I have a Trk file (29mb) from a 6 hour series of flights involving 5 different A/C. All was good until the last 3 minutes when I was re-arming on the carrier. All I want to salvage is those last 3 minutes. Is there any way to somehow reduce this (either trk or a resulting video) to view. I don't want to spend 2 hours on hi-speed to get to that point or generate a HUGE video. Appreciate any help...
  2. I'm curious about this and HUD Brightness, does the Day-Auto-Night switch do anything? I find it extremely obnoxious when flying at night...am I missing an additional knob to turn it down like in the Hornet?
  3. @Eagle7907.....can you please tell me where I can find the document you display, might be some interesting reading on other items as well?
  4. I thank you both for your responses, I'll drag on and read, re-read and then experiment before I re-re-read. I personally think it sucks as both a guide or reference but WTF...if DCS had a better 'manual' we would probably have a lot more missions & campaigns. I now appreciate the effort and time members of the community have spent building missions. This program is pretty amazing at what can be done IF you grasp the concepts and have a good plan. Funny thing is that in building the mission (and tweaking it) when you're finally done there is no surprises for you in the flight(s). We need a more active group of mission builders but there needs to be some incentives; it would be good for the community and DCS. One suggestion I would have is to be able to name your flags like we name an Event, this number shit just adds unnecessary complications and hard to identify references. Coming from a bunch of very talented software guys/gals, you would think they should appreciate that us mere mortals are not as capable in the logic and assembly of events. Again, thanks for your responses, I'm sure I'll be reaching out for more AFTER I re-read Cheers,
  5. I'm having a bitch of a time getting this thru my thick head. I've watch several YT videos and some say TRIM UP to ??? while some some say NO TRIM needed. They both can't be correct...so what is it? And this dashed 2.5Degree pitch ladder is also confusing me. There must be a way it can be controlled to move forward (down the runway) or back toward the threshold via stick & throttle adjustments. Is there a diagram that expresses the altitudes vs distance to touchdown in a general sense (barebones A/C, minimum weight) at 10 mi, 5 mi, etc while on a straight in approach? Appreciate comments & suggestions
  6. As I recall, my initial failures at CCRP was that I was assigning the weapon from the MFD instead of the HOTAS. I may be wrong but it was not using the proper profile I had edited. With a TMWarthog I select CCRP from the Master Mode (Control Stick) button then select the weapon from the DMS (Control Stick). On another point, I never use the Waypoints, regardless of where it is located as a target SPI. I use the Waypoint to get me to the neighborhood and then use the TGP to affirm my target, most the time using the Laser as well for slant range and at the foot of the target. Regarding what Yurgon said about 'self-lasing' and maneuvering after pickle.... you can pickle a GBU-10 or 12 and then make an aggressive turn of more than 90 degrees to avoid threats as long as you're aware of your countdown time to projected impact (lower left corner of R-MFD). Keep in mind which direction you're turning (to avoid additional threats) and what else is hanging on the wings that might 'mask' the TGP (inboard & outboard). Flatten out your turn enough to be stable with clear line of sight for the TGP and fire the laser (if you're using Auto Lase Off - Latch On) within about 12-15 seconds to impact. At 18,000ft AGL you can almost do a full U-turn to avoid threats after pickle. Regarding accuracy with the JDAMs, I can hit (and destroy) a T-90 from over 5 miles away (18,000AGL) with +80% accuracy using a GBU-38....not that you generally need to. But you can hit a Tunguska, Tor or Osa and be headed home, long before he launches depending on your altitude/airspeed. Full disclosure, I can't hit the planet with a MK82 in CCIP:cry: Also, a good practice with GBU-38s & 31s is to give your plane a little side to side rock, shake and shimmy to the left and right when the the leading caret is past the 6 o'clock. This will avoid having your run-in aborted if the weapon's INS/GPS degrades due to an extended straight/flat run in. Regarding CBU's....the 97 is great as a CCIP choice when you don't have time for calculations or there is no serious ground threat and it also works well in a CCRP environment. The 105 is awesome in CCRP, especially from higher altitudes with ground threats. Pickling a string of 105's is a blast (literally) especially if you know how to create a bomb run flight plan. One additional note on 105s is that, although they are 'wind corrected' and accurate, their sub-munitions are not, and are at the fancy of the winds. There's nothing more frustrating then having the initial dispersion occur right above your 'tank farm' target and then watch them drift off into the abyss. These weapons and loadouts are why I love the A-10C the most, such versatility when you're out hunting!!:megalol:
  7. Is there any recent (last year or 2) documentation for the Mission Editor? I see Scripting and other notes but nothing on the core program other than a PDF I got with the A-10 years ago. This program is brilliant but a little complex as well without some more finite docs to support. I also see some great YT video tutorials but they are rather specific or overly complicated when I just want to understand some basic concepts. Ex: How to start an AI flight after XXX seconds of taking ownership of my A/C? I solve it by using a trigger argument ON TAKE CONTROL > PLAYER SCORES LESS THAN(FLAG) but have no idea whether this is the correct or best way to accomplish. Can anybody point me to some updated docs for this? Appreciate the assistance...
  8. I would love to see a video of this process in operation, this has been driving me nuts. If it works for 8 does it work for 2 or 4? That would probably be enough proof in the pudding. I'm not doubting anyone, just need to clear this up in my head.
  9. @LeCuvier, I, for one appreciate your efforts and willingness to share your LUA snippets with the community. I find it frustrating that purchasing an expensive piece of hardware for the A-10 ends up being of limited use when integrated with another aircraft. About the only switch on the TM Warthog that seems to always work is the APU. I just added a snippet from another contributor so that I can use the Auto Pilot (TM Hog) switch on the F-16. I would be very interested in seeing other LUA edits so I can take advantage of the TM Warthog in both the F/A-18 & F-16. Thank You sir,
  10. I've found over time that DCS initial loading time and mission loading times have increased, as example Bankler's Case I Recovery Trainer take about 35 seconds from the Mission Editor. Other missions seem to take an agonizing time as well. SO I'm wondering whether a total & complete removal of everything DCS and fresh install is appropriate, especially before adding my other purchased modules. Bare with me on the details below, just trying to head off questions about parameters of this decision. I've had DCS running on this machine for over 4 years (hardware specifics in signature) and haven't re-installed anything. Other than a couple Cleanups, I've just installed updates and new modules as I spend. I run the current openbeta 2.5.5.41962 with an assortment of purchased A/C including F/A-18, F-16, A-10C, UH-1Huey on all 4 maps. I also purchased, but have yet to install Combined Arms, Black Shark 2 & SU-33 (with SuperCarrier when she docks). The only Mods I currently through thru JSGME is VAC ATC Menu Mod (by whartsell), unfortunately for me I'm too slow to take advantage of the awesome Mods created by the community. So sitting in Shanghai with time on my hands during this Chinese NewYear, and avoiding contact with anyone that might be eating bats or coughing....would a complete removal and re-install be an appropriate course of action? If so could you comment and direct me to the best resource available to get this done right the first time. Is there an updated 'bible' of fresh installation I should be reading? And if I was to do this would it be best to load the entire DCS library on a separate SSD as opposed to volume C:? What size would be necessary, would a 100GB be enough? I appreciate comments, questions, suggestions, references...anything to make this as emotionally peaceful as possible. Cheers & Thanks...wish you all a happy and prosperous New Year....now get out there and blow some shit up!!!!!
  11. I've reviewed and saved track files but have 2 questions. At what point can you 're-take control' of the flight; when I play the track I can't even turn my (with TrackIR), I can only change my F(1,2,3, etc) views. Do you need to 'Save' the file first before and then reload it to 're-take' control? Please advise, thanks...
  12. I'm curious how you get that accomplished because my preferred view of the cockpit messes up my preferred view of the HUD. I'd like to sit and see outside of the canopy frame rails (horizontally) but then the lower left & right text on HUD (AOA, G's, Mach, Waypoint Distance) are almost off the screen so I need to lean into it. Can you set your personal default cockpit view and then set your preferred HUD view...are they independent to a point? And is the TrackIR a 3rd variable? Can someone clue me on how to 'dial these in' together?
  13. I'd be curious to know how difficult it would be to make a similar 'landing grade' system for airfield landings. Swapping back & forth between the A-10 - F/A-18 and F-16, I'm losing some of my skill sets; especially my Hornet landings. A post flight eval of AOA, landing speed, vertical velocity and if possible 'breaking efficiency' would be be handy to review from time to time. Just getting down & stopping in time is more of a subjective feeling of accomplishment (or terror) as opposed to know if I'm beating the shit out of airplane:cry: Anybody got a clue on this?
  14. Oh....just another plane to add confusion to my cerebral overload....or another plane to wreck. Thanks
  15. Well, since you asked, NO...I think it's completely useless, trivial and an utter waste of the time and talents of any sim developer within DCS. I don't care about seeing 'model/seat/animation' thru an ejection event and I doubt there are any serious folks here that would trade the top 500 wish list items for it. But that's just me
  16. I have a slight problem with a recent order that I would appreciate your help with. On Jan 24 I pre-purchased the DCS Supercarrier package thru Paypal but when I log into DCS desktop and view the Module Manager it shows an 'SU-33 for DCS World' available for me to install, although I have never purchased that module. Did someone unknown gift this to me? I will not install it and await your response.
  17. An interesting question that I too would like some guidance on. There has to be some general considerations for each profile (1-5) that handles most situations....with #5 being the 'holy shit' profile. Perhaps they are broken up as : General Flight in potentially hostile area Fence In A/G ???? Holy Shit Love to hear some feedback from you guys/gals on that
  18. Great stuff RedKite, follow you regularly on YT...clear concise, to the point
  19. My sentiments exactly, darker than a well-diggers ass, can't even find the Emer Spot Light now.
  20. With all the dents in my forehead I just got to source those extra thumbs...
  21. @ Razor18...if you mean Target, nope...only DCS, VoiceAttack & Viacom running this show. For some reason I suspected it's either VoiceAttack & Viacom...but things got weirder. @Harker....no to Target and I'm clearing out all entries for F-12 now, whether they are visible or not. There as a bunch of crap assigned to the MFDs that were irrelevant so I removed them. @LeCuvier...never even knew about that 'UI Layer' but have cleared out all entries that even looked weird. After all this it's getting real bizarre: A-10 is still all good on all missions F/A-18 & F-16 are still a mess, but when using the Throttle COMM hat, the Up action does nothing, all other 3 actions results in 'bouncing' to views of every location I have placed a flight (friendly - enemy - static) in this mission. Here's the REALLY bizarre part; this problem is somehow MISSION dependent!!!! I just threw together a simple mission with all 3 A/Cs starting HOT at Batumi and the Throttle COMM hat functioned the same (correctly) as the A-10 has forever. Then I went back to another existing mission that had all 3 A/Cs and I'm back to A-10 GOOD, the 2 fighters BAD. WTF?!?!?!?!?!? How can this be problem dependent on the missions? Appreciate all of your input....hehehehe....I'm getting closer...somehow:megalol:
  22. That's actually not a bad idea...I do have an iPad laying around but can't stand the thought of Apple software on this computer ever again. I'll have to look into a Android, thanks for the suggestion For anyone else interested, here is a link to Google AppStore https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ihopiworks.hornetdevice&hl=en Cheers,
  23. @Razor19....YES..that's what I'm saying. On the Control page the A-10 has NO response to input from the Throttle COMMS hat but it works perfectly. On the Control page both the F/A-18 & F-16 have immediate response to input from the Throttle COMMS hat and it goes to the 'F-12 Static Object View' line. And there is NO setting in either fighter on that particular line under the Throttle section or any other section other than Keyboard. So where might this be coming from ?
  24. @majapahit, Config button down right 'Male HTML" and you can stroll the bindings I'm reading that and thought WTF keyboard is he using...never seen that key before:megalol: Then the light went on:doh: Hehehehe....thanks...got it done and sorting out the list now Cheers,
  25. @Razor18, You are correct so far my friend, the A-10 does does not have any response to the COMM hat on my throttle. Both the F/A-18 & F-16 go straight to 'F-12 Static Object View' although the throttle COMM hat has no assignment in that spot. Any clue how to rid myself of this issue, where could this F12 command be coming from? I only use 1 profile for Vaicom/VA [VAICOM v2.0 A-10C-Profile.vap] for all aircraft as they share all the common commands. Would this make any difference? Appreciate the assistance
