  1. Hi all. Been having a tough time on mission 5, TEWI campaign. Had a few goes at it but cant seem to get good SA, and my TGP ends up tracking a hill that passes between it and my locked target. I know there is a way of preventing this, but cant think what it is and I have been unable to find a solution as yet. Can anyone provide info?
  2. Good question. I'm only a recent owner of the WH hotas, bought second hand at a steal. Anyway, I had the x55 for 2 years, and honestly really liked it. I sold it to fund a set of pedals as the WH doesn't have twist stick rudder, just hope I didn't make a mistake. The WH is good, don't get me wrong, but I have only had it 4 weeks and already had to tear it down and sand the crap out of it to get it moving better, and mess with the throttle slew control which still gives me a fit when I use it. It's great for dcs A10, just maybe not much else, if you play other games like space sims etc stay away.
  3. Indeed, Hogs operating in Syria, only carry one Maverick. GPS guided bombs make up most of the payload, inc gbu-31 2000lb with gbu-38's & 54's..
  4. Is this broken again in the latest update? I have not re enabled my mods since the update so may try that but it didn't show in the last mission i did recently..
  5. Yes BC, i don't see this as a problem with your campaign, just a little quirk from dcs probably. It did work fine the second try. From now on i need to remember & check that it's working before i fence in. They are pretty stupid but the ai do come in handy sometimes ;)
  6. Indeed, glad its not only me. Maybe axis settings or something?
  7. Anyone had any issues with comms between wingman, flight etc? Im currently working through 'The Enemy Within' campaign, mission 5. First try I cruised to the targets etc, tried to contact wingman using normal UHF, no reply. Tried the other radios, nothing. 251 setting as usual. I can hear her scripted comments but nothing else, she just follows me around which led to me failing this mission miserably. I replayed the start again to test, tried the comms and it worked fine, the wingman replied right straight away. I don't think this is an issue with the campaign. Anyone else with similar? *ps* I watched recons video afterwards, and he uses 'flight' on the radio menu to talk and give orders to the wingman, whereas I use the wingman option. What's the difference here?
  8. I have noticed something about the slew control. If TAD is SOI, the cursor moves well in all directions, no issues. But with TGP as SOI, the movement is inconsistent, and starts/stops all the time, erratic almost. This is something Edouard commented on in his website also. Anyone else notice this?
  9. Thanks I was considering getting this, maybe not so much now..
  10. They look incredible, but surely overkill for most things apart from helicopters where your using them constantly..
  11. I have the tfrp set, I found them pretty sensitive at first, a lot of that was getting used to them having never had pedals for a flight sim before. I ended up putting a curve on the main axis, that works well ;)
  12. Same here, I never use the rudder apart from taxi to/from runway etc, I had x55 recently and it had the twist stick which was handy. Warthog needed pedals so got the tm ones. It's certainly more immersive with the pedals, but I don't use them in flight with a perfect a10.
  13. Sure.. https://tazintosh.com/en/thrustmaster-hotas-warthog/ This is the mod I used. I had 3 sets made, I ended up using just the replacement insert as I can use the slew OK as is, with the finger grip on top, it's very easy to hit it accidentally as it stands out in the grip. But even after this it still not great, the sensor they have used for this is terrible, and you can see how TM replaced it for the t1600 throttle, which has a much better slew control, but it is all we have.
  14. Thanks bsa, I had that video lined up ;) I did the tear down this morning. bit nerve wracking, and took me ages to sand the pins down to an acceptable state. The o ring was also damaged, and pinched through the top, so I removed it, did the mod, sanded all parts, greased up & re assembled. Fortunately all is working fine, and I have recalibrated using the tm app. The stick does move much better now, so I'm happy with it. I also did the slew mod on the throttle, using the 3d model available online. This works a little better now too, so I can concentrate on getting used to the controls, and get more seat time ;)
  15. Yes I have that printed now, will try install this weekend perhaps..
  16. This is one thing that is awful about the throttle, only had mine a few days, it's a real struggle to use properly. Going to try to 3d printed part, maybe downsize it slightly.
  17. Just an update, I have the tfrp pedal set now, seem to work well enough. As for the WH itself, I have seen some videos with the stiction issue, and I think mine has it. The stick movement isn't smooth and fine control in AA refuelling etc would be very hard with the poor way it moves. I'm glad I didn't pay full price for this thing, as honestly the whole system is not that impressive at all. Question, has anyone here performed a tear down, and sanding of the gimbal system? Worth doing or too risky?
  18. Yes thanks B, I got that sorted, was the first thing I did along with mapping the grey slider to zoom, which works well enough ;)
  19. Ok, have the WH now. Dam this thing is heavy, I will have to do some work on my chair mounts, the x55 was so light compared to this thing. Both controls are now set and working well. I'm going to have to sell the x55 and see if I can get rudder pedals, I didn't need them before, now I do. The controls feel nice, the stick will take getting used to though as I don't really like a stiff spring but it will be fine. The throttle is great but the slew control is horrible, I have found some plans for a more accurate part so will see if I can 3d print something at work. Overall happy with the WH, and it will make dcs a10c that little bit easier to handle hopefully ;)
  20. Thank you for sharing, some great ideas there ;)
  21. Thanks looking forward to getting stuck in! Incidentally, the grey lever thing, I have seen folks use that as a zoom. For me, zoom function is critical, don't think I would be able to fly without it so I will be looking to do that ;)
  22. I don't mind the x55 at all, have had no issues with it. Just the throttle doesn't have some of the functionality I need for the a10c, and since I'm investing my time into dcs a10c I thought the next step was to get the proper hotas. Will see how it goes ;)
  23. Well, finally took the plunge and have a tm warthog hotas on the way. Just wanted to find out how folks use this. Do you just use the default controls as they are, or maybe program some of the less used switches to some other controls? Any other issues, feel free to let me know before it arrives. Thanks ;)
