Kind of surprised to see no comments on the fact that the flir is now working properly in 2.5. It will probably be updated further in the coming year but for now it's much easier to pick out targets in whot & bhot modes. Other objects, trees, buildings etc are no longer 'hot' thank god! Also, what do you all think of the new NVG? Will take some getting used to but it does seem a be a more realistic implementation of night vision?

Hows the FLIR? I have not really had a chance to test so far..

Check if msaa is enabled in your settings, I always had it off, but after I installed 2.5, it was enabled again, and my frames were lower than I was used too. Once I unchecked that box I was back to what I would expect. Oh and check your gamma setting, I was used to NTTR, and my gamma was 2.2. I had trees that looked like yours until I dropped it down to around 1.6, much better and it looks like it should now.

Edit the log book and skip mission 2 for now? Do a search on here for details, I cant remember how exactly..

yip that's it ;) the file system has changed from when this worked though, any ideas on what needs to go where in 2.2?

The obsession with old warbirds is from the fact that information is pretty common about them, systems declassified etc, you are not going to see a proper simulation of an F-22, F-35 etc at all, for decades, it's just not going to happen. You can't create a simulation of an aircraft without accurate information about it! Pretty obvious really? ;)

Eddie, thanks for the reply. What adjustments should I be making or leave well alone in regards to the altimeter?

I had an issue recently with 2.0 red flag. I was used to the settings for 1.5 of 2986 or what ever, the atc now says 2806, now should I be trying to match that? it takes a lot of adjustment to get down to 2806 and 0 on the altimeter. Thought I was fine, later in the mission im trying to drop '97's on some bad boys, and I get the fuzing error, even though I always do adjust the HOF before hand along with adding the laste info into the cdu. Im a little confused about this.. ?

Hi all, when I'm inputting co'ords into the laste/cdu, I need to swap pages as each page has 3 lines, but I have 4 lines of weather. It's easy to change with the cdu key pg up/dwn of course, but with the mfd repeating the cdu I cant change the page using osb's, or can I? Any ideas?

Agree 100%, use the air brake as I do too, it really helps. Forget the 'it's not realistic' crowd, do what works. I honestly believe that A-A refuelling in dcs is more difficult than it should be.

Yeah, I got to mission 5 in the enemy within, but it's hard to look at 1.5 after 2.0, so I will probably restart once 2.5 is out... ;)

Well I went ahead and purchased. It's well made, and the voice overs are excellent. But dare I say it, red flag is a bit dull. I mean a lot of the missions are very similar, and the red forces are just sitting out in the desert burning diesel, waiting for us to smack them around, which we do, then head home. Rinse repeat.. I'm on mission 7 now, and the last 4 have been practically identical :( Marshall around stpt5-6, contact jtac stpt 7, get targets, unleash weapons, mission success, fly home. Sorry but that's how it is for me..

Yes, all good replies thanks. It's a shame the atc is such a mess in DCS. In the Caucasus though I have no such issues really. I'm not that impressed with the red flag campaign as a whole, but that's another thread ;)

All, im currently working my way through Red flag 16-2 for the WH. I have a question about taking off at nellis. I'm used to stopping short of the runway, asking atc for takeoff - canopy & arming seat & cms systems, pitot heat etc. All overkill I realise but I just like to do it anyway. Where do I stop before I taxi onto the runway to complete these steps? If I stop before the yellow hash line, and ask for T/O clearance, atc doesn't reply, then I taxi onto the runway and he says I don't have clearance, seconds later I get clearance but I'm on my way anyway as I know it doesn't matter, just annoying. Thanks for any info.

Is the flir system any better in 2.0 at the moment? I have not run any missions on nttr as yet, only taking in the nice scenery..

I have since moved on to hammerfall part 3, and again noticed some odd radio behaviour. Once the sa9 is taken out im chatting to the jtac, then he goes silent, nothing after. But I know I have to take out the bunkers so after that's complete he comes back, no further tasking etc. then I send in the troops to mop up the site. After 5 mins of orbiting, they finally reply, and proceed to the site, then I don't hear back from them at all, after circling for 25mins I gave up and rtb, luckily I still managed to do enough to complete it. It's like something is delaying the messages? I'm going to press on with this in 1.5 BD, don't think I can wait until 2.5 is out ;)

I don't play online, but i know all about the frustration that is DCS A-10C ;)

No brainer, this is the thing that is a deal breaker for me, many times I have had to resort to labels, as I just cant find the dam target sometimes...

After a while of this, you will get fed up & just fly your own approach and get the bird down as it really doesn't matter how you do it, the atc is terrible in dcs..

Coloured windscreens? I don't see this on my a-10. The old yellow screen mod doesn't work with the latest versions..

Very true buzz, I agree. I'm happy enough with the WH, I'm just not blown away by it. I have not heard of any failures as such though, maybe a bit of wear and tear over extended use but nothing to worry about. I don't fly enough to put mine in any danger of wearing out that's for sure ;)

Thanks, see that's the thing, I was using a mark point. I was just getting things lined up, when I noticed my tgp had moved and was tracking the hill instead. I had not known about ins mode?
