That weathering looks very impressive :)

Can you give a source? I remember reading the S-5K state trial reports and it specifically stated that effectiveness against a BTR was decent at best, depending on angle. Piercing 150mm of heat-treated rolled steel is an entirely different matter

Ticking off a box in Mantishub =/= solved. Most of these bugs have been there for YEARS, with the boxes getting ticked of when the entire feature gets removed from the module

When you take it for a spin and you notice the IAS indicator, altimeter, radio, DA-200 and stopwatch being broken, the chute bugged and the manual being outdated and incomplete, you really wonder what the hell they've been doing for the past 5 years. It's like VEAO all over again...

F-15C The Georgian War Campaign Feedback
Vincent90 replied to baltic_dragon's topic in F-15C The Georgian War
I've completed it earlier this month, and I was really disappointed with the campaign. I'll quote the premises given in the ED shop about the campaign: To me, this implied a more realistic campaign, at least inline with The Ultimate Argument, and with the great reputation baltic_dragon campaigns have on this forum, I went ahead with it. I could forgive the asinine wingman comments early on, since I get that the writer needs to set a story frame. The early missions were also very good (the long patrol and the night mission were very fun), the yapping was still bearable (again, I expected these to just be set pieces and normalise as time went by instead of getting worse and worse). Unfortunately, after a couple of missions the campaign degenerates in Ace Combat, laced in between the action movie we have some weird talkshow going on by the punchable pilot and his dippy wingman, with the low point being my silly wingman wanting me to do a little airshow to "boost morale". To me, it was really unbearable. After a couple of missions I was so fed up with the talking that when the black box showed up in the top-right. I scrambled to turn off the sound on my computer and quickly look the other way on my screen. With the black box fading out being the "all clear" sign to look back to my screen and march on with my task to shoot down 25 aircraft per mission in the weirdest of circumstances (sure, why WOULD you send an assault package; when you can just send unescorted bombers, with fighters arriving in the wave after, followed by some CAS in another wave, and helicopters in another wave to just boost the enemies' kill ratio just a bit? And why would you try to attack their base of operations, when you can just act like they don't exist and keep loosing half the world's airforce on a day-to-day basis?) Also, there were a lot of discrepancies between the waypoint info in the mission briefings and what was in the mission itself. Sometimes these would just amount to 500 feet differences, but in other cases they were large enough to influence operational actions. This is DCS, so these things are to be expected. Still, there is no reason for these QA issues to be there. Amazing that these haven't been noticed during testing. Also, the volume of the AWACS lady is much higher than the other voices. I had to tone the volume down by a third and raise it back up again after she was finished. And since we are talking about the AWACS-lady: Some of her dialogue seemed really weirdly placed. The longer "audio-repeats of the briefing" bits go on for so long, that you have to park your aircraft during taxiing just to let her finish speaking, or else it merges with the audio bits before and after take-off (did I already mention there is a lot of talking-for-the-sake-of-talking?) If this was free, I would've never have finished it. For me, this campaign was a sheer punishment. I had expected a realistic campaign at best, and something comparable to the campaigns shipped with FC3 at worst. -
Shutoff valve closing, impossible to cold start
Vincent90 replied to Redglyph's topic in Bugs and Problems
I spend the past hour trying to replicate your issue, and i have been able to isolate the problem: DCS doesn't accept it that your throttle is fully open when the mission starts. Even immediately after start-up putting it in fully closed position will still cause the issue of the throttle axis being essentially "dead". With my HOTAS X, the "synchronize HOTAS" function from "Options -> Misc" works thankfully, so I never have had this problem. Check that you have "synchronize HOTAS" function ticked on, and if that is the case, I would open a support ticket so they can fix it in a future patch. -

It’s there as a visual reference point for the stick being in the center or not. If the stick and the line are aligned from the pilots’ perspective, the stick is centered

There is a step/feature missing from the start-up procedure: The AGI-1 tends to sink a bit and get miscalibrated when the electricity is off. The device self-calibrates, but only after a while. In the video, the AGI is perfectly calibrated from the start, even though power is off and the manual caging lever hasn’t been pushed.

Any ETA on the missing cockpit animations? -
It usually takes about 6 months for the modules to go on sale, so the May Sale or the Summer Sale will be the first one.
-
And with Steam, you can check out if the module is as advertised and get a refund if necessary. You also get to use the Steam Overlay, which makes you able to stream music in-game (Local or through Spotify), a stream-lined ability to make screenshots, and keeps the manual always one button-away. If you're in the EU, prices on the Steam Store are better as well. There really is no reason to pick standalone over Steam

What did you expect? It's been only 16 months :)

It's an excerpt from paragraph 1.3 of the RSIU-4V manual (Overstratos has it). I'm far from fluent either, but here is my interpretation of it. Brackets are added by me. 1. 3. Types of communication The RSIU-4V radio unit is designed for maintaining two-way telephone (meaning: modulated) communication in radio networks, with the help of an amplitude modulation system of the carrier frequency in transmitting stations. The RSIU-4V radio unit in KOMPLEKS with one transceiver provides the possibility of a wireless telephone communication. In case of a simplex connection (one-way traffic), the reception of the correspondent to the answer is made to him on one and the same wave by switching the transceiver from receive mode to transmit mode. The transition time of the equipment from one mode to another is no more than 0.5 seconds. In more complex configuration options, the RSIU-4V radio unit provides the following communication capabilities: a) the maintenance of simplex communication in one network and the implementation of the reception on duty in the second network, b) maintaining duplex communication, c) simultaneous maintenance of simplex communication in two sets, d) the maintenance of simplex communication in one network and the implementation of duty reception in the second and third networks. Below are the features of communication in the basic configuration of the radio station. (See Appendix 1). When putting an additional receiver in touch with the unit, and by using a single antenna, the main unit can send over the second receiver. In the case that you want it, the second receiver can send an fast/ emergency signal over the wave of the second (Lambda 2) network, and additionally receive on the behalf of the primary network, so the primary network can stay open. Respectively, network Lambda 1. (It continues to talk about having this system strikes 2 birds in 1 stone: for one-way communication on one frequency, while being able to receive continuously on another. And for the ability to have duplex communication on one frequency) Like I said in the other thread: Radio's are witchcraft to me, but from what I understand of the RSiU-4V manual and applied to the limitations of DCS, it is technically possible to put channel 1 on 101 Mhz for your flight communication and communicate on that, and channel 2 on 149 Mhz for "breaking news" stuff like GCI/heavy interceptor comms, and not miss a single message. It would be great if you could run the manual through someone who: a) is native russian b) knows his stuff about old radios I can recommend the guys at forum.qrz.ru By the way, do you happen to understand the function of the intermediate frequencies 1 and 2 (19.444-27.777 and 3.333 MHz respectively) ?
-
Sure, but what about these functions: https://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=196808&d=1540847383 How can the player experience the advantages of the RSIU-4V over the RSIU-3M by only implementing the pilot control block? EDIT: Oh, and since i'm busy criticizing anyway :D On the RAZBAM facebook page, the PLAAF livery should have 4 digits instead of 3 on MiG-19P/ early J-6A aircraft from that time period. 3 digits were only used on prototypes.
-
So you're saying the RSIU-4V won't be fully modelled?
-
The DCS MiG-21 radio is a piece of fantasy, but the RSIU-4V can take up to 6 predetermined frequencies from a total of 601 out of the 100-150Mhz range. It is comparable to the stepped frequency approach of the MiG-15's RSI-6, but instead of having to manually select the correct frequency, the RSIU-4 can save 6 frequencies. It also has an "intermediate frequency" within the MiG-15 bandwidth, but I don't have sufficient knowledge about radios to know what that means in practice.
-
As long as you tune the radio of the MiG-21 to the same frequency as the MiG-19, you won't have any problems.

How legible is the ARK-5 frequency indicator, if you don't have a head tracking device?
