  1. A safety margin is exactly that. A safety margin doesn't guarantee anything about what the jet absolutely can or cannot do. The limits documented are what the jet can absolutely get away with, and for the F-14 that number is 7.5 and for those other jets I noted it's 9 and you can apply a safety margin for them too if you want. Either way the F-14 is not certified for anything above 7.5 simple as that. Probably is not the same as yes. The F-14 probably can exceed 7.5 and be fine F-16 doesn't need an asterisk it CAN do 9 no question.
  2. Just because an aircraft "survives" a high G excursion with or without damage does not mean it can do that every flight for it's service life. Planes like F-15/16/35A are certified for 9G because they can do that every single flight without reducing their service lives. That's what a G limit means. There is zero risk to the jet or it's systems provided it's maintained properly, to do that every single flight up to that number. Huge difference for the F-14. Anything above that documented limit is going to need a fatigue inspection at the least and likely fixes or worse at the most.
  3. I've started to jump into a mission then quickly exit and jump back in. At least for my custom missions that seems to help. Haven't played with the stock ones. I think could be something to do with mission initialization. It seems like when I get these dips they are associated with system changes like a new RWR spike or Mode 4 datalink info on the TID poping in, Radar mode change, HUD mode change. ect. ect. But after I do my restart trick usually everything is groovy. So I definitely think it is an F-14 issue. It happens for me on maps like Nevada in the middle of the desert at high altitude or out over the water on the PG map.
  4. Yeah maybe the most important light in the cockpit lol Please fix!
  5. A does just fine
  6. I watched a documentary on the F-35 a while ago and for the life of me can't find it. But one of the Navy reps mentioned that the F-35C is also rated/limited to 7.5 Just like the (Bug and Cat) they asked him why not 9 like the A model and he said if they had wanted that, it was possible in the JSF program but the added weight to the airframe was, in their minds, not worth it. Sustatined High AOA control at slow speed and solid acceleration is good enough as far as they're concerned. Obviously take that with a grain of salt but it was interesting to me. High G loading has definite merit in gun fights where radius is king but in the world of HOBS I don't think it's as important as it once was in regards to BFM. ITR is the bigger question now, when the missile employment envelope pretty much negates any sort of sustatined situation. And 7.5 is more then enough for that kind of quick energy dump for a high aspect shot opportunity.
  7. That's the real question. Maybe Victory can chime in, because the problem is most "sources" ONLY talk about instances of over G and NOT day to day flight operations or ACM practice with regard to the limits. I would be surprised if Routine means more then 1/10 flights for any given aircraft but I have no idea TBH.
  8. Or you know Jam your flaps, and pull your pants down for next bandit cause you can't sweep your wings anymore and die anyway. ;)
  9. Go Bug, or go home. Seriously thou, you can land on boats.
  10. Lots of the 3D assets are in desperate need of updating. SH-60, S-3 to name a few others that are sort of needed to properly populate the SC. I would happily pay for an asset pack to get them updated to post 90s standards.
  11. Very impressive work.
  12. You absolutely can use full flap in BFM now but unlike before if your exceeding their envelope then they break. I don't see what the issue is. Don't over speed the flaps, problem solved.
  13. That's the correct behavior, MavF has priority of the FOV button over FLIR page regardless of TDC priority assignment.
  14. AFAIK BRU-33 is always required for rocket pods on the hornet. Don’t know if they can load them on either side of the rack for singles on both Wings to make it symmetrical. That’s probably not a used load out though If you wanted two pods they would just go on the same rack to save work for the ordies.
  15. FWIW I'm seeing the same inconsistences as well, some days mission is buttery smooth, sometimes same mission is a slide show. I have a very similar set up to the OP. I can't pin point the problem, tried the meta/fxo delete tried repairing. All my other aircraft are rock steady AFAIK haven't tried the F-14B though
  16. Key word is intentional. I don't believe that flagrant violations of safety standards go unpunished no. So is it standard practice to exceed those limitations? Absolutely not, we're they exceeded at times? Sure.
  17. Straight up do not believe that. If an instructor saw you knowingly deviate from acceptable safety limitations there is no measure to the amount of force the book would be thrown in your face. If that did happen, it certainly was not shared with the fleet, nor considered normal by any stretch of the imagination. Let alone the implications of breaking aircraft in actual combat situations. Someone mentioned the paddle switch in the hornet, pulling it would likewise result in a quick trip to the COs office and a review of your qualifications and future flying the jet. I guarantee any intentional breaches of NATOPS or any other fleet guidelines we're treated with the same professionalism in the tomcat community.
  18. Yeah if you have to break the jet every time to win, your really not a good pilot period. Because they're plenty of turkey lovers out there that can both win and stay within the aircraft's limitations.
  19. Toxicity levels rising...Rose colored glasses activated
  20. Sounds like my comment stung a little...sorry didn't mean bug ya'll I'll buzz off. :D
  21. They flash for me, you need to have anti-collision off for them to work though. Can't do both at the same time.
  22. Yep the ONLY fight the tomcat can win ;P
  23. Confirmed seeing the same thing in SP for me too
  24. I just think they look cool, that's why I want them lol
