  1. So it has a data card just like the A-10 and there is a page on the DDIs where you load it all up just like the A-10 (its not available in DCS yet), But IRL you not really going to be editing a bunch of things on the ramp while waiting around on alert or whatever and if you need to, then you can hook up ground power and use the power panel to power up the systems you need to mess with. Unlike the A-10 The APU was not designed to provide electrical power/ECS cooling to the avionics its just meant to start the engines. This has to do with the intended role of the hornet. It is not meant to operate at a FOB or do quick turn around battlefield CAS missions. Its primarily a strike fighter. With the A-10 and Harrier they want the jet to be usable in areas where they may not have access to a bunch of airfield equipment, so they specifically made it that way. The idea of landing and re-arming and immediately taking off again for another mission is the part that's not really realistic for the hornet. I'm sure they could make that happen if they needed but its not really done nor was it an operational design requirement like it was for the Hog and Harrier. Also to your OP the Map on the MPCD is hard to read in the real jet too. Often USN pilots won't bother with it. But the gain rocker on the lower left of the screen is your best friend if you want to use the map.
  2. We're getting warmer, Yeah I doubt EE Lightning would come first, The F-15E has been in their plans a lot longer.
  3. I think a flyable version of their AI A-6 would be really well received. We already have other third parties developing the A-7 and F-8, there is the community A-4. So I think more cold war USN assets are quickly going to take over DCS.
  4. Ok the temp setting was 20C in ME, I have not had a chance to try mission in the Caucasus yet, but I just re-tried my NTTR mission with the same settings: OAT - 20C (80% fuel, with 2xAim-54C on station 6/3, 2xAim-7MH, 2xAim-9Ms, 2xTanks emptied during the mission, with the rear phoenix pylons on 4/5 removed.) and I couldn't reproduce the spike. I'll try the Caucasus and report back. Also this was a cold start mission. I could be mistaken, but I think when it happened before I had less the 1G on the jet, I was trying to unload when I noticed it, But when I tried this time I replicated the exact same situation as before and I couldn't get it to happen even when pushing over at .9M in zone 5.
  5. For me the average PK seems has gone up. They seem to much closer to the hornets and Eagles now. Good work HB.
  6. My spike happened on the NV map during summer FWIW. But either way, good work, this fix is a huge step in the right direction. I can actually go fast in the A now!
  7. Sparrows seem to be working well again. The engine fires so far has not been an issue for me. But I did notice a rather drastic TIT spike in one instance while flying in the transonic, I chopped the throttles and brought them back and that seemed to make it go away. I unfortunately didn't save the track, but It took place after a BVR engagement in SP where I was flying sustained supersonic above 30K for a few minutes with no issue.
  8. Thank you so much!
  9. Too bad its not the MKI...No thrust vectoring, Canards, or LITENING pod for MKK.
  10. Thanks for listening, Just trying to be honest, I'm sure you guys will get it figured out. I think the F-14 is one of, if not the best available product in DCS, and the new sound update is fantastic along as well as the 3D art for the the TF-30s and new AB effects.
  11. If i'm going to give honest feedback on about this update, I'm quite disappointed. 1) Engines catch on fire 2) Aim-7s don't behave 3) Aim-54s don't behave 4) Turn rate doesn't match the performance charts So basically all forms of combat are inhibited by some form of unintended behavior or bug. I would say that I understand that it's WIP and early Access but many of these issues we have been dealing with for a month now, and some of which are brand new, and now its another month before we can even hope for a fix. So well I know its not HB's intent and It's not personal against them. I'm very upset and disappointed with overall F-14A release So far. Once again it's critical bug after critical bug with months between potential fixes.
  12. I'm sure they are already doing the most modern version they can, it probably has to do with available data. My personal choice would be a Mig-29K but again they can only do what they can do.
  13. For a cold war gone hot scenario yes that's true ( FC3 F-15C aside because it's sort of frankenstein's fighter right now). But for the Gulf War, we're pretty darn close, F-16CJ showed up in 93, so just 2 years Late from potentially meeting Iraqi MiG-29 9.12Bs Obviously the in game version we have represent Mid 2000s spec'd F-16CJs But you can certainly play around with the mission editor and pretend well enough IMHO. The Hornet not as much but again It's still much closer then fighting MiG-19/21s as norbot pointed out. We also have plenty of weapons from the early MiG-29A's time period available to create stand ins for earlier versions of the more modern blue side Lightweights. It's not 100 percent fidelity but it's certainly not outrageous either. Plus plenty of other countries, to this day, still operate old outdated MiG-29s And Like you said; the in game tomcat IS a straight up contemporary of the 29 9.12 A/B. What really interests me is possibility of a Luftwaffe version with western equipment but we'll have to see what ED comes up with.
  14. It's one hell of a dogfighter. I see TONs of potential with this version, even with respect to BLK 50 Viper and LOT 20 bug. If we can get a good representation of GCI along with it, it will still be a pretty creditable threat in cold war situations, and there is certainly lots of potential for historical/hypothetical Asymmetric warfare. With the Persian Gulf map and the super carrier. Very excited for the MiG-29.

    IFF

  16. I guess I just don't understand where the demand for more helicopters comes from. People have been screaming for modern Russian fighters for years and they are finally in a position to deliver one evidently but NOPE KA-50...again lol...but I guess mama ED knows best.
  17. Well as long as MiG-29A is happening still I can allow AH-64D
  18. Stupid Apache
  19. Yeah I could see why they would be blank on start up without power if the button has multiple pages for the ODUs. But It still confusing and I can see people getting mad or not being able to get their IFF on if they don't know. The updated manual doesn't say anything about the Push button at all. I only found out because in my cold started mission, I wasn't getting any IFF squawks so I started mashing buttons. I first thought that the button wasn't working during post start, because of the new Auto IFF for AZ/EL but It in fact still needs to be turned on like before for IFF to work. Maybe a public service announcement is in order, either that, or its not supposed to be like that in which case this needs to be ushered over to the bugs section.
  20. After today's update the IFF ODU button doesn't work anymore. Is this intended? *Edit* SO it seems the functionality of the ODU button is indeed working but to get the osb window options to display you have to hit on/off after pressing IFF. Then the windows are populated and each IFF mode can be colonized. But Hitting IFF first the windows are blank so it seems like its not working until you hit on/off. Not sure if this is intended behavior. Or WIP, the options are new and can selected individually unlike before. This is during a mission with a cold start where the IFF needs to be turned on. Also it seems when the IFF is turned off with on/off and the osb windows are cleared with CLR the Situation is replicated.
  21. I think it's quite relevant because that's the whole reason we're even arguing. They set a time period which defines what the jet can and cannot have. Change that and they can do whatever they want, they did the exact same thing with A-10C
  22. And what I'm saying is If they were to just change the label from mid 2000s hornet to 2012 hornet I guarantee no one here would recognize the differences. And poof GBU-54s would be realistic. What we have now is not 100 percent true to reality. Bru-55s are just one example. They stretch things in the name of gameplay all the time.
  23. Well IRL GBU-54s are basically the aircrafts bread and butter for strikes these days. I know it’s not realistic for our jet. But how big of stretch is it, really. And to to be fair our hornet is definitely not compatible with BRU-55s either for sure. Yet here they are. “Gameplay consideration” so is it too much to ask? Because that is probably the one of the most prolific weapons for all modern day hornets and it’s already in the game.
