  1. Precisely. This is my vary point. An option allows for all users to curtail that varying milage. You've appeared to have missed the core concept of my post. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  2. The HMCS projects into the right side but there is an option to project to the left or or even both. Keyboards are not in (most) aircraft, yet are programmable in the Sim. HOTAS buttons, shifted layers and cockpit switches aren't customizable to each pilot in real life, yet they are in the Sim. My point being, realism only works if it does. PC gaming hardware is not set up for this function, using a separate button is a work around that may work for some. But a special option solves the issue. Then you can continue using it like you like to, and everyone else can do the same, as they please. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  3. Yeah, I reset my space bar to the helmet device for easy access to turn them on and off as I need. Though maybe just a false screen with focus on everything might be a little easier to work with, this works for now.
  4. Me too. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  5. Agreed, a special option would be useful to the vast majority of users. Realism to a fault is a detriment. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  6. Same for me. This is one of those things that works in real life because the aircraft has hardware to support it. I agree that an option should be made available do not require the button be depressed. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  7. There was, the update in post #35 didn't make it to the sim and were included today.
  8. I saw an increase. Had to go change all my tanker fuel levels. They were sitting at 100% before the update and 69% after. ~22,000lbs more fuel
  9. https://www.janes.com/article/85013/usmc-seeks-hmcs-for-harrier-ii-aircraft "An HMCS is one of the enhancements for the Harrier that NAVAIR has been considering over recent years as it looks to maintain the platform out to its planned retirement date of 2026. Other enhancements include Link 16 (approved as part of the OFP H6.2 capability drop in 2016) and Variable Message Format (VMF) integration for digital interoperability; expansion of the AIM-120 Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missile (AMRAAM) envelope; and radar relevance and sustainment." 10. So should be coming soon then? Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  11. This is a dual post. First, the landing light texture appears to be missing a component (Seen SS bellow) Second A Case Study in landing light position. I believe the landing light in the harrier is pointed too low. More specifically I think the lighting dynamics in DCS are a bit wonky, but the end result is the landing light needs to be aimed higher. I have always noticed in ED modules, spefically the A-10 and later the hornet that the laninding light was very thin, much thinner than what they are in real life. This was a clue. The harrier landing light, while it has the right lateral displacement (roughly), it is very dim, so dim as to be useless actually. I have found, based on circumstantial evidence alone, ED must aim their landing lights horizontally at or near the horizon, which gives the light a further range to illuminate in front of you. RAZBAM has realistically aimed their landing light, but is producing a unrealistic result. Thus, the aim point for the landing light should be raised to at or near the horizon. So I loaded the harrier and hornet into the same night mission and noticed that the harrier landing light did not illuminate the airborne fog effect as far at the hornet did (pay attention to the clouds in the air over the ramp) I also noticed the landing light intersects the ground a lot closer than the hornet's does. Now, I realize there are differences in the lamp position, I understand that. But the difference in where the ray of light hits the ground should not be that pronounced. Not do to a light difference of a few inches. I also recognize that maybe RAZBAM and ED are using different light effects. Quite possible, I can't tell. But judging by the A-10 and the F-18 having very similar if not identical landings lights, there is either one effect and RAZBAM has aimed it differently or there are different effects. Lastly, I'll show this, the texture missing gives a good idea of where the light is aiming. You can clearly see the light is aimed slightly down (makes sense in real life). I also know if an A-10 or F-18 with a landing light on behind you points their nose towards your cockpit, your cockpit will be flooded with light (which is why in real life they are aimed down). I summarize, based on completely circumstantial evidence, ED must aim their landing lights at or very near the horizon. Which allows them to illuminate further. RAZBAM has aimed their landing lights realistically, but it is producing an unrealistic result. Thus, RAZBAM should aim their landing light at or near the horizon to achieve a better, more realistic result.
  12. I was playing around with this last night and did find that with LMAVs and the TPOD when the TPOD is in HTS mode pressing the TDC in will cause the aircraft to lock the DNT on the FPM if it is over land. This is incorrect behavior Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  13. That's backwards. The Y band doesn't work. The X band does Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  14. Bump. OP might want to PM Decoy this one. It'd be really nice. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  15. +1 Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  16. You need to be close enough for the system to pick up the contrast in the image. So, kind of. Most times you still need to depress the TDC to lock. Sometimes it'll lock by itself. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  17. No. You don't need to. The system slews a little slower for finer control while the TDC is depressed. When released, yes the system will lock. But you can slew without depressing the TDC and the system will still lock (albeit after a second or two). In practice I haven't seen much of a difference between sleeping with the TDC depressed or not in the Sim. But that is how it should work. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  18. Yes. Two different sensors are providing those feeds Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  19. Which DMT button are you pressing? SSS Down or TDC down? Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  20. That's a Hornet issue. The Mavericks on the Harrier work fine. My guess is he's probably trying to use the right MCPD to view the seeker head.
  21. Haha, The mavericks in the hornet are WAY worse.
  22. You can also "feel" the switch when the cursor turns greens and locks to the switch. You're in a swivel chair with a headset on, you don't have 30 pounds of flight equipment including a helmet, face mask, LPU, and combat lifesaving equipment all handing in your chest after having walked across the tarmac for. 5 miles in 110 degree heat, preflighting and climbing into, then strapping on the jet. All with the pressure of the rest of your flight rushing to make a takeoff time. Haha. The struggle is all relative. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  23. Does it change the light color?
  24. Thanks, I've used something like these before but lost the links, I'll use these now. Still should be available in game.
  25. I'm with you. WUT IN ELFNATION Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
