  1. May it be that the Black Patos pit does no longer work since a few DCS updates? I enabled it in OVGME the way I always do after an update, but the pit remains gray (and it also seems that it's missing the windows now). Since they once fixed that "no windows" problem, I suppose they changed some stuff in the file structure? Edit: Just noticed that there was a conflict with another mod. It's black again now.
  2. Unfortunately, I can't help you with this problem (my pedals stay in position, therefore I don't need trim). However, I think the Ka-50 doesn't need a lot of pedal input. It's flying pretty straight due to the two rotor blades. I hope you'll get it sorted out. Isn't there a checkbox in the "special options" which allows you to use trim on the pedals? At least that's how I remember it with the Huey.
  3. Well, "Route" worked fine for me (most of the times). However, you I also tried to fly with Flight Director Mode because I sometimes prefer to fly the Ka-50 myself instead of just letting the Ka-50 flyining "itself". It happened with both modes though.
  4. I didn't fly the Ka-50 that often, so maybe I'm just doing something wrong (maybe blade angle too high and some damage)? It happened several times now to me that the Ka-50 suddenly starts losing altitude and no matter what I do, VSI won't recover. Either I'm really too stupid and I get into VRS with the Ka-50 or it's something else? I doubt it's VRS though because I still had enough speed - I must admit that I did not careafully check the airspeed though.
  5. I now flew CP1, CP2 and CP3 and the ship appeared. Nevertheless, while the voice over for the the beacon is triggered after CP3, the signal (green light) definitively already appears earlier (between CP1 and CP2). Therefore it's a bit misleading that you anyway have to continue the search pattern even though you have the SOS signal (the compass indicator shows you the direction to the ship). To me, it was simply logical to follow the beacon as soon as I had the green signal. Anyway, mission accomplished - looking forward to mission 3.
  6. Good summary. As discussed in this thread: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=3623112#post3623112 mouse view won't work anymore in F2 after you use RShift-F2 though.
  7. Yes, all they'd have to do is take your file and replace their existing one. Problem solved. No idea why it's never done.
  8. OvGME is always good ;-) You simply have to deal with mods if you fly online with some groups. Good thing with OvGME is that you simply disable the program mods before updating (I also use OvGME for the saved game mods). After the update, enable everything again. However, IF this file would change again in a future update, you'd have to adjust the mod again. That's why I became a bit careful with "control input mods".
  9. I'll have to try. I think I also went to the "adjust controls" yesterday (because I was searching for "mouse"). I also did not change anything and left with ESC, but it did not help. I ended up moving the cam with the keybard which was not very precise. Definitively not useable if you want to create a video.... Thanks, I'll have a look at the file. I also once included the cargo view, but then there once was an update where firing rockets didn't work anymore. That's when I reverted to the original DCS file. Since it's simply RShift-T, I may go with Voice Attack.
  10. Well, looking around in F2 with the mouse definitively won't work if you disable trackIR aiming with RShift-T :(
  11. Ok, I'll also try again. Thanks for the explanation. I turned off the soundtrack though. I thought when I get the green light on channel 4, then it's the SOS signal - especially because the needle also turned to the correct position. I did not listen to the morse code though. I'll pay attention on on the sound on my next run.
  12. I only played the first 2 missions so far which means I can't comment that much so far. However, my first impressions: Mission 1: - enjoyable and challenging - with Doppler maybe a bit hard to find the 2nd last oil rig, but not impossible. I think many less experienced pilots may have problems with that though. Maybe this mission might be too hard as "mission 1". Start "easy" and increase difficulty over time ;-) Don't get me wrong though - I like difficult missions, but this one feels more like it should be "Mission 5". Mission 2: - flight to search pattern is a bit long if you don't use time compression - it's a bit confusing because you're told to enable the beacon/ARC-UD, but you're not allowed to follow the signal until you passed CW1-CW3. The triggers should be adjusted there General: - I'd prefer if you'd have to RTB. - cold start with startup voice overs like in Oilfield Campaign would be great. - 16 missions for the campaign seems fair - not yet sure if I like the "mixed helicopter" thing, but it at least forces me to finally deal more with the Ka-50.
  13. Thank you, I'll try it again. In that case, the problem really was that I've received the signal "too early" and therfore I turned toward the ship without passing CP2 and CP3. Maybe the trigger zone is too big though? I was between CP1 and CP2 (checked it with Garmin) but I was told to turn on the ARC-UD. And since I already received a signal there, I simply decided to follow it.
  14. Thanks for the information. I'll probably anyway RTB.

    Sling load

Agreed, that's another solution - unless it's picking up something from a location where you can't land next to the cargo. Learning it online with other, experienced people really seems a good option though.

Do you mean tutorial missions or simply videos? I don't think there are tutorial missions but you can easily find videos on YouTube IMO. The quality may vary. They probably more or less say to have reference points (e.g. a building, lines on the ground). First thing to learn for sure is to master a clean hover. I'm no RL pilot nor a pro but what I do is simply go to a hover in front of the cargo, facing into the wind. Then slightly move forward, listening to the commands (forward, 10) and of course very sutbile inputs. Some only do a short forward and then back again. Depending on your controls, I recommend to use trim a log - unless you have a cyclic with no spring that stays in position.
  17. Ah, I see. So the campaign would proceed because the score is >50. However, I want to do it complete and I also want the full 100 percent. It just doesn't feel right if I only hover around red smoke. Also, I think I paid for the full mission ;-) With that said, I'll have to wait for a fix by the devs or I'll have to fly the full pattern, hoping that it would trigger the events. Maybe NOT using the ARC-UD would help because MrDieng did not have a signal and it was working for him.... And yes, I also get the signal on the first search leg. That's why I never flew the full pattern.
  18. Allright, it's the one North, 360, the 3rd leg of the search pattern (I think WP 4 to 5).
  19. With the 2nd leg, you mean the one to the North, heading 0° (3rd leg of the search pattern) or really the 2nd leg (heading East, 90°)? Yeah, it's a bit sad that we're currently left alone. Off-topic: The number of players would be interesting. I recently discussed it with somebody else. So of the whole DCS community, only a small part plays helicopter. Of this small group, only a small part have the Mi-8 and of this even smaller group, even fewer people are active on the forum. That's why we end up at 3 people only discussing in this sub-forum.
  20. Thanks for the information. That's the same spot where the red smoke is - and that's also where the ship should be according the mission editor. I really think there's a trigger somewhere who should activate the ship; and maybe it won't trigger unless you fly to e.g. WP8. However, I'm just guessing. In my 2 attempts, I always turned North-East somewhere in the middle of the leg "WP2-WP3" (the first leg of the search pattern, heading 180°). I'll probably wait for a feedback of the dev before trying again.
  21. Ok, I tried the RShift-T...seems to work. I noticed that I was not able to look around in the F2 anymore though because it still didn't work when I pressed RShift-T again. Therefore I'm not sure if it was related to RShift-T or not. I'll have to test it again another day.
  22. Thanks for the information. I tried it a 2nd time and this time I made sure I did not turn set anything on the ARC-UD before I was told to. It even told me "CHECK RADIO BEACON SEARCH SETTINGS". Once set up, it disappered. Yes, WP2 and WP3 is the first leg of the search pattern. I always get the "signal" between WP2 and WP3 and that's why I start turning toward the signal. When getting closer, I get all the messages like "30th, it's "Scout 5th", we haev found SOS signal; we are going in it's direction. Weill report on discovering". So it seems like all the events get triggered. The last messages I get is "30th, it's "Scout 5th"; I confirm, it's Lihovets. It's adrift, there are people on deck. They have given red smoke, I'm coming closer, will drop the radio." and "Got you! We send rescue boats to your position. Do your job, "Scout 5th" However, the ship is NOT there. Only the red smoke. In the mission editor, I saw that the ship does not have a route, thus it should be there. However, it's also set to late activation. No matter what it is, I can't complete this mission because no more events are triggered. I hovered above the red smoke and nothing happened. If the devs need to have a deeper look into it - I can send the trk file and I could also upload a video (recorded the whole session). There's definitively something not working.
  23. The comparison is interesting. I don't have 1.5 installed anymore, but your screenshot really shows the difference from 1.5 to 2.5. It would be nice if ED could fix the lighting, but I think this should be discussed in the general ED forum? Maybe you should add the link to your post in one of the threads about the lighting? Having a "stronger" light would be nice during many night missions (also with the Huey). If you watch some movies, then the search light is always extremely bright and it iluminates the target very well.
  24. if you use NVG, dim the cockpit lights. You should be able to "estimate" the instruments. Also, you can watch "below" the NVG to see some of the gauges. So you should be able to cleary see the VSI. If the dimmed instruments are too "dark", then you can still use the flashlight to enlight e.g. the VSI.
  25. I agree on the lighting problems. It's a general DCS problem though and not Mi-8 related afaik. For night operation, keep in mind that you can use your NVG.
