  1. Sounds like some good proposals. I simply "gave up" on this mission and the whole campaign and played Huey/Mi-8 again... even though there are people who managed to finish this misssion with success, it simply may be impossible for some others. It would be nice if the convoy would stop.
  2. ...in fact ever since 1.5.2 or 1.5.3 :(
  3. Glad you found out yourself. I remember searching that, too...years ago.
  4. My video for the "Grim Reapers' video challange" (30 seconds, low level flying, ANY aircraft. This includes the Huey ;-)
  5. Unfortunately, it's not permanentely fixed. At next startup, the mirrors were red again. Even disabling/restarting/enabling didn't help this time. Edit: I'm using Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 with the latest drivers.
  6. I did not test it yet, but since it worked permanently the first time, I'm pretty sure it also works permanently this time. It only seems to break again sometimes with the updates.
  7. Same problem again in 2.5.2.1837 (this time the mirrors are just red). Disabling them, restarting DCS and enabling them fixes the problem again.
  8. I noticed that, too. I simply raise the collective only slightly. The rpm seems to increase after that. When the rpm is high enough, I commence the take-off. Most of the time I anyway do a cold start. However, it's indeed something that could be improved.
  9. Cinematic version of 5th to 9th mission of the Argo campaign are now also online:
  10. In the briefing it's said to land next to the cargo to hook it. That doesn't seem to work (and I really landed very close to it). In the end I had to hover above it to hook it. Maybe the rope is simply too short? Anybody managed to hook it while landing next to it? Either way, sling load still needs some attention. Depending on rope lenght and weight of the cargo, it can still start to swing around unrealisticly.
  11. I can confirm those mentioned problems. it would be nice if it would be possible to contact Batumi because it's really very dark and it's hard to see the runway.
  12. I just had a look at the trk and this time it worked fine. In other words, sometimes it's just "bad luck" with the AI....
  13. I just played it and there are still some issues in DCS 2.5.2.17559 Open Beta. From the take off at the green LZ, it took 10 minutes until I finally got the message "Team is reaching the target area". They were standing around at the railroad for quite a while and didn't seem to do anything. After the next message "They're trying to escape, Engaging now", nothing happened. After orbiting for another 12 minutes, I decided to land and to have a look at the scenario with the ctrl-F11 cam. I then noticed that the soldiers were just standing around even though there were 2 more insurgents around (see screenshots). One was on the silo (should be moved IMO). I took out the one on the silo and let the co-pilot do the 2nd one. After that, the mission continued as intended ("We took down the insurgents"). In other words, the problem is that the AI doesn't manage to kill all the insurgents. I recorded the whole session as .trk (not yet tested if it's working or not) and as .mp4 (32 GB though)...just in case.
  14. When checking the F10 map on Caucasus (during Argo campaign mission 7) in DCS 2.5.2.17599 Open Beta, I missed most of those blue airbase symbols. Only very few AB had the symbol (see screenshot). Therefor it's also not possible to click on the AB to get the Airdrome data for most AB. Sukhumi and some in the South seem to be the only AB with the symbol anymore. Batumi and all the others don't have the symbol anymore.
  15. Just wondering if ADF 688 does work for the others? It appears like there are two ADF...one around 680 and one around 690 (more or less). Both don't point to Senaki though. The first shows NW which would be more or less the correct direction, but you'll miss the AB quite a lot to the West. And the latter points to the East. It's no problem; I simply flew by ACP, but I was surprised that I can't find an ADF that leads me to the AB.
  16. I played through mission 6 a couple of times and I noticed that sometimes you get the message about the mortars too early IMO. Or in other words, you're told too head NW and after that, you get the message to orbit around the FOB. It seems this especially happens if you enable the door gunners quite quick and if you also start quite quick. Maybe the door gunner kills the enemies too fast and messes up the whole idea of the story. Maybe you should add an extra trigger to NOT trigger the mortar message before the orbit message happened? Otherwise it's really confusing when you head for the mortars and you're then told to orbit over the FARP to kill remaining enemies. Just an idea ;-) The triggers/message order worked fine if I first armed my weapons and set up the HUD before taking off. This probably gave the terrorists more time to do their job before the door gunner does his duty. It's of course not game breaking but IMO simply slightly confusing.
  17. That's also exactly what I'd like to do!
  18. I still don't think it will over a lot for helicopter only pilots but I anyway bought it. I'm sure I'll find some nice landing spots anyway.
  19. Just wondering about the sling load in mission 5. It says 453.592kg...is this more or less the maximum? I think it was quite difficult to lift it and to stay within EGT limits. I had to go into transitional flight pretty quick and in fact I almost tilted the cargo... Lifting was one thing, but dropping the cargo was another story. In my first attempt, I wanted to go into a hover to drop the cargo right at the smoke, but I was still descending (VSI around -1 or -2m/sec) with EGT over 7500...I knew this can't last for long. So yeah, the nice "Fire" alert appeared. 2nd attempt, I simply went with 20 knots and decelelerated in the last moment. However, VSI was 5-7m/sec and I still had slight transitional flight when the cargo hit the ground. I was surprised the cargo wasn't damaged, but I would rate the landing as a "lession how to not make it" (?). Just for demonstration, here's the landing part: Long story short...how do you drop the cargo with that weight correctly? My intention was to go into a groundeffect hover right before the cargo hit the ground, but the timing wasn't right. Also, not sure if the rope isn't too long for ground effect?
  20. And here's the cinematic version of the 4th mission of the Argo campaign:
  21. Yes, I can imagine. Maybe it would make sense to change the message text though. Currently it says "*** Mission failed - Return to briefing room", therefore player might think they cannot continue the mission. Changing it to something like "they won't be pleased about the destroyed cargo" or "oh damn, couldn't you pay more attention?" without saying "Mission failed" would be a better solution IMO. And yeah, I fully agree on the Caucasus scenery :-)
  22. Thank you. I'm glad you like them :-) Yeah, I thought that reducing the rope lenght probably only is a "work around" and that sling load still may not work perfectly. So this means the cargo realy is destroyed even though it's not visible in DCS(normally the damaged cargo is "broken" on the ground)? As it can be seen in the video, the damage doesn't look broken at all though. I suppose sling load will still be developed within the future ;-) Since Argo has quite some sling load missions, it will be interesting to see how they will work.
  23. Cinematic video of the 3rd mission of the Argo campaign:
  24. Does this happend to the other, too? No matter how smooth I deploy the cargo, I always get the message "***Mission failed. Cargo is destroyed". Is isn't damaged though - the cargo looks ok as seen in the screenshot (I also have a video that shows how smooth I deployed it). The mission also can be continued without problem and you still get 100 points. Maybe the trigger simply isn't correct there?
  25. It indeed seems to work in mission 3 of the Argo campaign now :-) Finally it's possible to continue the campaign.
