Just flew it twice today (once "original" and once with different weather winter/strong wind). Really nice mission. I enjoyed it and the triggers worked fine for me. I identified the train before the 2nd bridge though. On my first attempt, there was a voice over that tells you that you're running out of time though. It's said you'll have to abort the mission if you don't do it before the 2nd bridge.

Which training missions come with the mi8

I can only recommend it :-) Went through the whole "flight school" at the 8Mates... -
What to do in Mission 5?
rge75 replied to rge75's topic in Mi-8MTV2 and Ka-50 Memory of a Hero Campaign
Thanks for the explanation. It seems lack of skills from my side. I never manage to get a lock on the Mi-24 even though I enabled A/A. -
Mission 9 "Whiskey" trees problems with 2.5
rge75 replied to Bigozor's topic in Missions and Campaigns
After succesfully playing it two more times, I agree with you. In fact there's even plenty of space. There are only two big trees, but you fit easily in there. I uploaded a short video where you can also see the external view. If you do an approach from East to West (even though it's not into the wind), then you should be fine. Just avoid the big trees. Note: I think I flew away a bit too early in this attempt... simply hover until you're told to leave again. -
Mission 9 "Whiskey" trees problems with 2.5
rge75 replied to Bigozor's topic in Missions and Campaigns
Well, actually you don't have to land. Just hover there. It can be done (see screenshot). In the beginning I also thought "wtf, don't tell me to go lower, there are trees all around"... However, I also agree that they should adjust this. -
What to do in Mission 5?
rge75 replied to rge75's topic in Mi-8MTV2 and Ka-50 Memory of a Hero Campaign
I still have problems with this mission (don't manage to lock the Mi-24). Is there somewhere a video of this mission around how to do this mission? -
I posted a video of the mission in the "Mi-8 video thread", but I guess it's ok to also post it here:

Mission 13 of the Campaign "Memory of a Hero":
-
I noticed this in mission 13 of the Memory of a Hero campaign (but I doubt it's mission related). The door gunner keeps firing even if you put him on hold. If you turn away from the target, he still keeps firing "into the air" or wherever he's pointing. He keeps firing until he rans out of ammo. Also, you can't hear the door gunner sound. Watch the video to see the glitch in action:
-
Just another question. Once you pick up the downed pilot and you're told to climb to 600 / heading 24. What do we have to do next? On the video, the other guy flies back to LZ1 and lands "in the same area". I did not see a "Mission accomplished" message though. Edit: Found out myself. You have to land on the LZ of the first landing again and you get the "Mission accomplished" and 100 points ;-)
-
Well, I encountered that problem sometimes with the Huey now (only in multiplayer). With the Mi-8 it's the other way round though - most of the time NO door gunner sound at all. Also, if you fire some rockets immediately, you may also lose the sound. Long story short, they definitively should have a look at the sound issues. I created a new thread for another issue which also includes the sound problem though: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=3661858#post3661858

FARP Hollywood 003 - Battle of Bulitsku - Huey Medevac
rge75 replied to ElementLT's topic in User Created Missions General
It's for sure easier with the "Set Marker" because all you have to do is to set the F10 to "map only". With the "hide on map", you'd have to do it with every object/aircraft you don't want to see. -
The video is helpful, but he goes really close to the Cobras. Not sure if you'd really get that close to the enemy. If the AI would be on "Excellent", you might not survive that attack. However, he did quite accurate shots! The 4 minutes were not a problem to me. Time was enough for 3 runs, but I ran out of rockets. On the other hand, I was told that I should have had 6 rocket pads an not only 4 (I opened the mission in mission editor and started it from there because I'm not yet that far in the campaign). Edit: BTW, I would have landed into wind on LZ ;-)

Another option (if you want to show e.g. FARP and other important things) would be to simply chose "hide on map" for the players aircraft. This shall work again (not tested yet though). Thus gives you more flexibility. Edit: I almost prefer the option "Set marker" though to show things on the map. -
Well, if you have the map options to "map only" then it's sometimes difficult to find the start location if there are no marks at all on the map. Aside that, I fully agree. Before you start your flight, draw your route with the rule and place ACP. To me, using "map only" changed the way I play DCS. Of course you could still use the "mark position" feature on the kneeboard to get an idea where you are. Some consider it as cheating, some say the co-pilot would always follow the route on his map with his finger.
-
You could use two beacons to find out your position on the map, but you should at least have a rough idea where you are. Find a beacon on the map, set your Radio Homing. Draw a line on the F10 map. Do the same for the 2nd beacon. You should be where the two lines cross. Unfortunately you can't have two lines visible at the same time in DCS. Thus, you'd have to set some markers. It's for sure best to land somewhere where you have some significant landarks (e.g. crossing roads and river, powerlines...stuff like that). Once you know where you are, finding the bullseye is just normal pilotage. Set some ACP on the map and fly on sight. Edit: And if all fails, you can still load the mission in the mission editor to determine your start position.

FARP Hollywood 003 - Battle of Bulitsku - Huey Medevac

You're my man! :-) I absolutely like to play DCS this way. I'll test it out this week. -
- I often use 1 salvo first, adjust, 2 salvo, break, repeat - same with 2nd run - for the 3rd run, you'll only have 2 shots left Like you said, one problem is that the vehicles start moving after first attack. The AI enemy doesn't seem to be very strong though and I even once flew over them (yeah, you shouldn't) and let the door gunner do some stuff. At the end of the day, I still haven't destroyed all 3 vehicules though. Maybe I should once try 16 rockets instead of 4 ;-) I mean, if all fails, try something different...

No doubt...and I'm pretty sure we might see quite some missions for this map, once it's being released. -

The problem is that not everybody owns the map. That's why we use Caucasus to fly online most of the time. However, this is not an issue for Single Player/offline ;-) Also Nevada and Normandy almost feel "abandonned" for helicopters. Main problem is because Caucasus offers quite a lot (different seasons, flat areas, mountains, sea....) -
When I ran out of rockets, nothing happend....and I suppose the 4 minutes passed because I did 3 rocket runs. Did you get a message like mission failed? Or did you simply quit and then you've got the 50%? Yeah, let's see if we got some additional help apart from my hints which I already PM you yesterday. Just for information if somebody else is interested: - 3km distance to target, stable flight: - VSI 0 - Speed 120-150 km/h - 300 m AGL - ball centered - 2.5 km distance, Tip In - 10-15° pitch (normal dive) or 30° (steep dive) - don't touch collective anymore - aim "high" and fire one salvo - check inpact, adjust, fire - 1 km distance (light arms) oder 1.5 km distance (heavy arms), break 90° - at least 6 Sek. Nap On Earth, Max. Speed - 30° turn for 3 Sec - climb - repeat attack Furthermore, let your rear door gunner fire while you break However, I also did not manage to kill all 3 vehicules and I ran out of rockets.

Awesome news about the PG campaign :-) We simply don't have enough PG missions so far even though it's a nice map. -

Did I have to use the comms in this mission? I did not set the frequency but there was no need to talk to the FARP. -

Good to hear. Not sure if my accent would fit... you may look for people with English as native language IMO.
