  1. Yeah that mod actually makes things as smooth as with motion smoothing, but without all the visual artifacts. The only annoyance is having to reload it up again and delete all the terrain metacaches each time there is a DCS update. Anyone have any idea when Vulkan will land?
  2. It'll be worth it in the end I think especially when, or hopefully when Vulcan is released! Recommend Kingdom Come Deliverance Dburne beautiful and fantastic game. Mod that shit and its jaw dropping.
  3. I'm not even tempted. If there were obvious gains that took me out of reprojection I might be, but it's increasingly obvious that improvements will have to come from the software side of things, the game and VR technology itself. Recently it seems the steam VR is making some very nice changes (if they can iron out the wrinkles for DCS) with motion smoothing and I have more hope for Vulcan than I would a new graphics card.
  4. Never mind found I can turn it off in the steam VR application menu.
  5. DCS is better of without it for the time being. I only really seem to have problem with spitfire at the moment but havent tried enough different modules to say for sure. Even so spitfire is essential!
  6. Do you know a way to change it back?
  7. I'd rather not have it if so. But not sure about that as I get no artifacts with Il2, or with the other planes, only the spitfiire so my guess is its on the games end of things. Hope so!
  8. Dont know if this is the new motion smoothing and it only seems to affect the spitfire but I am getting horrible spitfire artifacts and jiggling when ever the propeller is in backdrop to another object (plane gun reticle etc). I am on the VIVE, anyone else having this problem and know how to fix it. As it only seems to happen with Spitfire, I am assuming/preying its the game and not the new motion smoothing! Any ideas?
  9. I'm getting alot of jiggling propeller artifacts but only it seems in the spitfire, especially with the gunsight reticle, so I cant be sure its a steam VR thing. Performance seems very good with the smoothing. Those artifacts are distracting though and DCS spitfire is my fave module of any flightsim. Anyone having the same problem? I am using the shader mod...might try to disable. It doesnt seem to affect other planes, but I did hear rift user always get propeller artifacts. I hope this doesent mean that now VIVE users also have them?
  10. Most people myself included were able to get a virpil no problem. Just checked the website and it says in stock so not sure whats wrong. Is this an availability issue in the US or something? VKB is known to be a nightmare to actually get the product (I wouldnt bother with them as it takes ages, and then if something goes wrong...) but Virpil I thought have a great rep in that regard. It took me about a month to get my order. If you can hang on or get hold of a VKP or Virpil though I do advise you do so, as they are a new/next generation of flight stick, and far superior to the old warthog
  11. Yeah thats what it was I think. Strange had to turn it down, in the game after having crashed and then loading up again it worked! Thanks mate!
  12. This is suddenly just happening and I havent had any input. The game just starts after a few seconds I hear a warning sound and the orange light at the top of the front dash starts flashing, and before I even get off the ground the engine dies! Anyone know what I am doing wrong. Just seems to have started happening cause earlier today it was fine!
  13. I have the old jetseat. Anyone know if the knew one, besides having more motors will be a better technology than the old one? I guess it will be more comfortable, but aside that anyone who has the old, think it's worth buying the new? I guess I will wait for reviews!
  14. One plus for the vive that, as we dont get any artifacts. Have to say though hippo I use 4x MSSA (with no PD) and honestly I don't feel any difference than how it used to perform without DS, and think its better if anything. For me you can have PD x2 and MSSA X2 or MSSA x4 with no PD Overall I think the later looks/performs much better but its all subjective I dont remember even without DS, DCS ever being able to maintain a constant 90 FPS for any significant portion of time though. And although I can no longer use a PD of like 1.4 in game, I do honestly think it's no longer needed as the graphics have really improved resolution wise. Flew vegas after a long time today and was very impressed by how great it looks with a default PD. Without DS it used to look so grey and washed out...
  15. lol I'm going to take a stab in the dark and guess that no that won't be possible!
  16. My performance feels about as good as it did in the days when there was no defered shading, although I dont use any pixel density. The test for myself is to turn my head to the side when in flight, and watch the buildings go by. Even without DS in the old days this used to cause stuttery ghosting, but now it seems smoother and with better performance than I have ever had, whatever the FPS counters say. And although its a personal thing I much prefer how the game looks with DS than without it. You gotta get over it, and accept defered shading is never coming back. The game is heading in a much better place with it than without it IMO, and its obvious they don't have the resources to maintain both. If it's 90 FPS or GTFO and you can't stomach reprojection, you might as well wait till the technology improves, and find somthing else to do, as even in the other sim, its just a fact of life. As Vulkan is coming as well, there may be cause to be optimistic and patient performance wise. As they are apparently working on it... Just gotta enjoy it for what it is at the moment and accept its limitations. The kind of people who obsess over 60 FPS in 2D (not saying thats you!) will drive themselves insane with VR, and might as well forget DCS VR for the time being and save themselves the frustration.
  17. Hello for seem reason simshaker/jetseat works in DCS when I start in the air, but doesent turn on when I take off from the ground or an airport. Any ideas?
  18. Concur! I just flew over the Persian gulf Dubai at night, in a Mi-8 with the cold wind (air con) blowing onto my face. Man night lighting, has improved so much compared to just a few weeks previous. With all it's faults god I love this sim! And yeah Dburne, the spit is just incredible!
  19. Is your performance really that bad? I'm guessing its an MP thing for you? To be honest I have problems with DCS like the rest of us, but I actually have a very smooth experience on the whole, although I mainly stick to WW2 and helicopter modules, avoid MP and try to design my own missions. I mean for me the positives FAR outweigh the negatives and I am very optimistic about where they are heading, as over this last year, especially after such a HUGE update (I mean how was that it itself not a sign of massive progress for the sim) there have been huge improvements made across the board (including WW2). Just a few months ago it was totally unplayable for me and my god did it look awful in VR too! The update was a massive undertaking, and its kinda as if people forget or take it for granted now, but at least IMO it does look so much better than it used to, and the fact they took that leap was for our benefit! But I do agree with alot of what you say. Every update and I still get stutters/flashes in VR, when pilots first eject grrrr! Large FPS drops the first time a pilot of each variation of WW2 plane ejects, and the same thing with clouds turned on (etc), or when using bombs in the viggen or mig 21, but my FPS and performance in general is not a problem for me. I get good performance, and never even check my FPS counters! I think theres defo some weird problem whereby (as an example) bombs and pilot ejections (clouds etc) seem to have to actually strenuously load up in game which causes some kind of momentary slow down, which then tanks FPS, and kills VR performance. For me this problem -and its been a problem for a long time that they dont seem able to fix- is the only thing they need to solve in order to attain VR perfection, as like I say I have no problem with FPS, or performance per say in general even with alot of assets around. So I also feel the devs do need to sit down and dedicate themselves to fixing these sudden perfromance drops, age old bugs (clouds), and graphical glitches. You can't really knock them for bringing out new modules (yak is a really nice flight model) as that is how they make their dough and although I totally understand the frustration, I'd say avoid buying alpha/beta products in future as that's just how they are. More people buy them the less incentive devs have to finish them!
  20. Sorry Bokeh? What is that? Is it just depth of field? Edit- NM found it checking it out, anyone know what it actually means?
  21. There are many problems that have been reported time and again, that don't ever seem to get addressed. The worst one for me -besides large FPS drops when pilots eject- is seeing momentary desert terrain flash up, when flying over the ocean. Real killer for immersion! Love DCS, have all of the terrains and a majority of the modules, but rather than new content I really hope there will be a big effort now to polish things up a bit especially for the 'release' version.
  22. Gotta link for this content you've dug up?
  23. Don't suppose we can get an update on what the devs are doing about this. From reading around the forums its been reported many times by many people and each update brings no change.
  24. You didn't specify your settings properly pixel density etc. But I can tell you from my own experience I used to have the i7 4770 and it was bad enough before defered shading became mandatory. The reason I didnt just buy a 1080Ti was for this very reason, as a good CPU and GPU are supposed to go hand in hand. But I would have thought without MSSA it should be playable. But running everything else fine means nothing, DCS is the most demanding game/sim I own nothing else even comes close. It also depends what missions you are flying, you cant really play DCS VR as you would in 2D, or have the same expectations. You need to use the mission editor and make adjustments, which ussually means things like turning clouds off, and limiting the number of assets or other things that might tank performance. How does the other sim perform?
  25. Oh yes its nothing to do with that. To be honest it wouldnt even be an issue in 2D but in VR/HTC VIVE such problems are very noticible as they cause the basestations to flash or even exhibit momentary loading screens.
