  1. Wow, I didn't realize the Labels.lua had changed. If the dot is actually in the center of the target, that's a game changer!! Thank you!! UPDATE: I also removed the distance tag and blended both sides back to a more neutral color. It works great in VR with a single dot. So great!!
  2. I wish they would stop trying to self-shadow and light trees. It has never looked natural in any game I've ever played. Just change the trees to a nice dark green and be done with them. Also the way the trees LOD pop when flying low drives me up the wall. I would rather have a lowpoly basic tree with no LOD than to have to watch the popcorn show. The lighting I'm still up in the air on, but my Normandy looks nothing like the quality that was shown in the ED videos. Truthfully, the Caucus map with Starways textures is more pleasing to the eye. I really don't want to have to run early morning or late afternoon just so the whole scene doesn't get washed out. The best thing would be to give the user some control over the lighting and tone mapping. The ability to turn off tree self shadowing and tree lighting would be great also. I think that would make a lot of people happy.
  3. Excellent, thank you!!
  4. You can do that. Just press F1 twice.
  5. He didn't really ask for the historical adversary, he asked for an easy one to begin training with. The air to ground aircraft are far too slow for you to get any kind of practical experience. I find the MIG 21 hard to catch in the F-5. The best thing to do might be to fight another fully fueled F-5 while you fly an F-5 with 20% fuel (you'll need unlimited fuel enabled.) Put the AI on the easiest level as well. Then you can progressively bring up the AI level or your combat weight as you progress and feel more competitive in a dogfight.
  6. Yeah, I was pretty much talking about 1 vs 1 or 1 vs 2. The Sabre AI pilots are pretty bad. It's why I fly solo!!
  7. I find that the MIGs love to boom and zoom. Never follow them into the vertical. I keep them in sight while they roll over for another dive and try to roll in on them as they descend (just make sure they have no angle on you when they start the dive). If you time it just right you can gain enough speed at the bottom to follow them up through half of their ascent to the top. You may have just a few seconds to squeeze off rounds on them. I usually have to set this up several times before I get a successful hit. The biggest problem is they are like flying tanks and can take a massive amount of rounds. I happened to see a Sabre pilots strategy on the show Dog Fights and have started using it to some success. I let a MIG on my six while flying low and go into a turning vertical corkscrew (wide and shallow) I watch him by looking over my shoulder until he can almost pull a bead on me then I drop power and roll over the top. The AI can't handle this maneuver and if you can pull it off it leaves them out of energy and in front of you. I practice it and it works pretty well.
  8. I just made a batch file to open them both at the same time.
  9. SkateZilla, I love your app. Could you please add one setting? It would minimize the window automatically when you launch the game. In VR, the mouse has a tendency to escape the DCS window from time to time. It happened in the mission editor and I guess I clicked on the Repair button while in VR. It actually tried to do a repair while in game!! Some stuff got overridden but some failed do to being in use. Anyway now I just close the window real quick after I launch so that doesn't happen again, but it would be nice if the app minimized itself after the game is launched. Thanks!!
  10. Project Cars (a racing game) has a pause page VR setting called "world scale" or something similar, I forget. Playing it I felt the cockpit looked oversized as real race cars are quite small. Adjusting this setting down to 80 from 100 actually shrunk the whole cockpit!! So there is something in the Oculus SDK that can change your perception of the size of things around you.
  11. Then they have royally screwed up this whole thing and put his work at risk. From their past work on the terrain textures I'd say to them "don't waste your time" and just use his.
  12. All he needs is a simple webpage with a paypal link. At least to get started. You have to trust that there are many more upstanding people in this community than potential pirates. This thread should be proof enough that people are willing to pay for this. I'd pay you $15 dollars for it right now, but I'm not sure about some crowdfunding scheme that leaves the end result up in the air.
  13. It's not a proper stabilization system. I was an Abrams crewman for 4 years and, what they implemented, isn't even close.
  14. I really don't think there are any children in here. As grown adults I think we can make the decision for ourselves if we want to run the mod or not. Not everyone submits bug reports (such as myself) so the point is pretty mute.
  15. Nice Work, going to try it now!!
  16. Thanks SiTh, I am also interested in printing the F-15C manual.
  17. Wow, this sounds pretty cool.
  18. The folder for these cockpit mods have changed. Fix the folder and they will work. The old folder layouts: 1- Mods\aircraft\SU-25T\Cockpit\Resources\Model\Textures\ 2- Mods\aircraft\Flaming Cliffs\Cockpit\Resources\Model\Textures\ New folder layouts: 1 -Mods\aircraft\SU-25T\Cockpit\Textures\ 2- Mods\aircraft\Flaming Cliffs\Cockpit\Textures\ ( all Flaming Cliffs cockpit textures go in this folder ) They basically got rid of the "Resources" and "Model" folders.
  19. I think this is part of the "flat terrain shadows" setting. They don't conform to the terrain.
  20. I think it was a joke. He's talking about the training hood.
  21. From what I've seen, the "flat shadows" don't conform to the terrain as the regular shadows do. You can test it by going into a mountainous area and flying really low. You will see the shadows from the hill tops actually lay flat out over the side of the hill like an awning. They are in mid air. You'll need the sun in a low position to see this.
  22. Yep, I have this problem too. They are not playing.
