  1. We have tried connect by IP but that does not work.. always says "server offline." Should the person joining use the IP that is specified in the server hosting page prior to starting the server?
  2. About a year ago, seemingly out of the blue but maybe correlating with an open beta update, other users were no longer able to see my server that I would host. I had not previously had to do any port forwarding but opened 10308 for both TCP/UDP for my ASUS router. I’ve tried adding firewall outbound allowances and tried everything I could think. Still people cannot see my server. Any tips or suggestions? windows 10, asus gt-ac5300 router, latest firmware, latest open beta versions. I have a separate modem/router. Thanks for any assistance
  3. Nobody has been able to see my server for over a year now.. happened after an update I believe. Have tried every port forwarding trick I can find..
  4. Agreed. Thanks for the sale. Missing the deadline while unfortunate is understandable to many given current events. There are plenty of reasons that could be listed as to why the deadline will be missed and everybody would be very understanding right now! ..but it being missed because "We do not launch large products during an ongoing sale event" is laughable. I will not go as far as to call it misleading, but its certainly a poor policy at best. Own up to being late and move on and meet the new self-imposed April 15th deadline please.
  5. Sorry man but you are quite mistaken; look at some real life examples if you like on the google for military aircrew/aircraft. Flag flies with the wind..
  6. I’d prioritize fixing the backwards flag on the pilots shoulder over the mask change personally. But that is also probably pretty low on the priority list.
  7. Precisely. My reason for no longer supporting early access is I see myself reducing incentive for rapid progress if I keep sending my money to partially completed modules.. the more people buy early access the more incentive they will have to create more early access products where most likely a large portion of funds come from. If nobody holds developers accountable then the problem only gets worse for the customer. I originally bought in to early access for many products I was not very interested in to “support the developer” but I can see I was probably hurting my chances of seeing TWS in a hornet within 2 years of release to EA. Don’t get me wrong.. I love DCS and am extremely impressed with what has been accomplished. But by my standards it’s unacceptable that I cannot engage multiple targets in a hornet 16 months after release. As a long time paying customer and supporter I have no problem voicing my opinion and concerns and hope that people do not always roll over and give developers a pass. Of course I want ED and DCS to succeed and prosper, but in the end I am a customer paying for a product and I am concerned with the direction some things have turned.
  8. Hopefully TWS arrives for the hornet soon! I made a promise to myself a long time ago that I would not buy another open beta module until TWS arrives for the Hornet which released to open beta 16 months ago. Unfortunately with hornet team members pulled for another open beta module release it may take longer than I feared. Once again I will adjust my expectations slightly.
  9. After jettisoning AIM-9s, I still get SHPI and tone even though I have no AIM-9s. Happens every time for me. Also flag is backwards on the hornet pilot's arm.. should fly with the wind ;)
  10. I’m sure they could. Just saying it’s never happened to me while behind a tanker big or small ;). Still cool they are trying to model this stuff.
  11. The effect is greatly exaggerated at least in some situations in its current form. I am sure it is still being worked on. Somebody else can explain the science but a hornet should not be experiencing extreme turbulence/ 90 deg roll while approaching the drogue on any big wing tanker. Assuming fair weather of course. Behind small aircraft the effect seems very realistic however and is a great touch! Great work and keep the updates coming!
  12. Disregard figured it out.. needed to have winzip or something like it.. came compresses. Instructions work with that thanks.
  13. So I downloaded gizmondo’s mod.. how exactly do you install it? This stuff is slightly tough for new guys haha
  14. For me at least, the slight “crying” is purely to let folks know that I do not intend to purchase more items until I feel satisfied with the state of the stuff I bought over a year ago. I 100% understood that EA is a buyer beware situation. However, I also realize that my biggest influence here is how I spend my money. I understand that one person doesn’t have much of an impact but out of principal and respect for this company I don’t want them to be confused by any lack of apparent interest in these new modules even from die hard fans as I would consider myself. This is an opportunity for people’s voices to be heard and should not be dismissed too quickly. Some people have valid, rational, and respectful criticisms and still wish for this game’s great success!
  15. I realize this is a complex sim. I appreciate the incredible work that has gone in to the hornet so far. I am confident they will eventually complete enough features that even the most in depth study folks will be satisfied with the end product. My problem is that as much as we have been told other projects won’t affect work on the hornet, common sense tells us otherwise and this is a good example. I appreciate the transparency, I really do. Making their business work in the long run is critical, and evidently lots of people will continue to buy early access modules regardless of how long it takes to get mostly feature complete. Unfortunately I will not be purchasing anything else until I can properly use the Hornet. For me that means I can fight BVR with at least TWS. I realize there was no promised timeline, but I never imagined that one year after buying this that there would still not be a way to engage multiple enemies BVR, no FLIR, and no way to input the grid coordinates given by the JTAC in hornet missions. Being completely honest I thought by now I’d have a real campaign and nearly feature complete but I do not blame ED for my expectations. The hornet is amazing and this game in general is on track for amazing things.. perhaps my perspective was off. JSOW not coming out when a rough schedule predicted does not bother me that much. However, any indications that other projects slow the hornet any more does bother me and makes me reluctant to support these (im looking at you f-16.). Rant complete and rest assured I am a huge fan and want DCS to succeed. Keep up the great work.
  16. I didn’t see this chat so I will post this here: The recent update video on new carrier communication was impressive. I realize this is a work in progress but was wondering why the video says “zip-lip” when they are calling the ball rather than using cut lights. Also it says “non CQ” conditions. Will cyclic ops be implemented? If so no tower communication should be necessary.. rather just collapse the stack? My last nitpick is that the lengthy check in with tower should certainly be shortened. Completely appropriate for marshal but not tower. All together impressive so far though.. certainly on track for some extreme realism. I wouldn’t be so picky if they hadn’t put the details before the video which seem to contradict what is happening a bit. Keep up the great work.. this+ animated flight deck sounds ground breaking. Hope they can figure out how to implement Marshall timing and have AI work in this environment.. cannot possibly be an easy task so good luck.

  18. However it will unfortunately not be the ATFLIR anytime soon. As much as I appreciate the module and the incredible strides that have been made.. I would have expected an ATFLIR a year after release. TWS should be the priority though in my opinion. I hope very little time is wasted on the incorrect targeting pod as a hold over. Great work on everything that is done so far.. I intend to continue to support DCS world however I cannot buy an f-16 out of principal until some key features for the f18 are complete. Air to air is juvenile without the ability to engage or track multiple targets. Give me tws and a cas page and a campaign and I will be happy. We don’t need a thousand fancy weapons that have never been employed by the f18 in my opinion.. at least not before getting the basic air to air functionality. Having a targeting pod while would be great is not a requirement to employ the aircraft properly. Rant complete. Keep up the great work though for real.
  19. So I have been trying on a mission with an S-3.. the knee board card says the tacan is 1Y for the tanker.. I set 1Y on the tacan and set the tacan to A/A... in my understanding air to air tacan should not give a bearing only distance.. or do they just model a full fledged tacan on the tanker.. with distance and bearing?
  20. Is there a way to find the tanker in the game yet? AWACS reports the position using bullseye and in some missions the briefing doesn’t tell you what the bullseye is to my knowledge..
  21. Anybody able to explain how to find the tanker? When I ask awacs it tells me a bullseye location but I do not know how to see that with the f14 displays.. anybody able to explain the bullseye functionality or another way to find the tanker? When I contact the tanker they just tell me altitude.
  22. Just saw this.. so air tacan only gives you distance that is normal and actually realistic. Hope that helps!
  23. So obviously if I could have the fully hotas setup for the hornet i would rather they do that.. but the A-10 stick is close enough in function to the hornet. I'd way rather have the correct throttles. We need proper AB detent in order to fly the hornet properly and more of the hotas is plain different on the throttle in my opinion.. id like to see both but if i had to pick one, hornet throttles is more important than having a stick that looks correct..
  24. As much as it would be nice if the pylons being removed would make the flight model more comparable to the demos shown in this thread, the real issue is the original flight model. It’s good but flawed with hornets that are less draggy than reality and hornets with less pitch authority and high alpha capability than reality. It’s still great though! My 2 cents.
  25. There is definitely a violent shake.. significant bounce at the beginning and then a pretty violent shake off the end. difficult to clearly read airspeed through entire shot but doable.
