So I understand that the true positions of radar emitters change on the RWR as the tailerons move around (as the sensors are built into their trailing back edge). So I had 2 questions. 1. Do the true positions of the Radar emitters also change depending on bank angle of the 14? 2. Is it possible to still discern the true positions during these maneuvers or taileron movements or is it just impossible and you just have to live with it being inaccurate until you level out and fly straight and level again?

Hi me and a partner fired a PH on an oil tanker and while the pilot saw the ph fly down into the target, the RIO saw the ph fly straight over the target, at ~10000 ft then disappear and saw the tanker beneath it explode. Will try to replicate and post a video of it later.

noted Would you want ANY heavy aircraft modules for DCS?
WelshZeCorgi replied to Wing's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Well, of course if it's done right. But with larger aircraft, there's always a bit of disagreement on how they're implemented, what role they would play in SP, MP, and technical issues to work out in an already buggy, slightly incomplete sim. I myself would love an E3 Hawkeye E2C/D so we can have player controlled AWACS, but how would 5 player multicrew work? (well, maybe you can chop it down to 3 player multicrew with 5 stations, as I doubt you would find 2 players willing to fly in tracks for hours.) How would side by side pilot-copilot controls work? The Huey does it kinda, sorta okay, I guess. Not sure how that would port over to heavy aircraft. So am I interested? Sure, I'm up for anything. Would I backpedal on this comment faster than Usain Bolt if it's done poorly? Absolutely. -
Ground units are really passive and mindless in DCS. They never really react to anything other than scattering if a friendly nearby is hit. If they see a missile being fired at them, they won't pop smoke and reverse into cover, (or use other known countermeasures like ir dazzlers, see below) they keep attacking even if the rest of their entire battalion is destroyed, They don't find hull down positions or retreat of overrun. Something like this, AI reacting and being proactive like player controlled ground units. Hiding behind buildings, repositioning after firing, evading incoming missiles with countermeasures and cover. Instead of what we have now, basically standing around waiting to be plonked by anti tank missiles.

I'll give it a shot

How do you cat launch after landing the 1st case 1? The deck crew are in the recovery configuration and won't come out to hook up and shoot the 14 you're in.

So is there going to be a ww2 version of this map? A lot of people are pushing modern and ww2 carrier ops as a selling point but the map in its current implementation seems to be set just in the modern era.

From the Heatblur manual: The JAMMER section controls the ejection of jammer cartridges in programmed mode. QTY sets how many jammer cartridges to eject, possible settings are 1-4. INTV uses all three indicated thumbwheels to set time in seconds between each ejection in the program. Settings from 1 to 299 possible in 1 second increments. Note Jammer cartridges not currently implemented in DCS.

Are we getting jamming cartridges?

Is it easier to break spikes with the jammer on? So if I was defending a fox 1, and I go to the notch, would doing so with the jammer on be more effective than with the jammer off?

So is there a "default" campaign planned that's going to come with the harrier? (like cage the bear for the F-14)

@swordsman422 F-111 or tornado would be my guess.

length and heading associated with waypoint?
WelshZeCorgi replied to Snakeice's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
It seems like the length of the vector seems to be capped around 3000? or so SPD. Is that a limitation on the real 14? -
Does the radar use a cone, like on the F14, or does it kinda, 'ping' in all directions like active sonar? I ask cause sometimes it looks like it's tracking a target near 60-70 degrees off the missiles nose. And how wide is the cone?

I mean I'll still buy it. If it ends up bugging me that much, I'll buy the first standalone throttle grips and use those or mix and match them up.

I think the jester radial menu should just display the order numbers on the TID, since the pilot has the repeater, he can look down and see which number he want's jester to next launch on, so he selects that one and it becomes the new next target: example: Say there are 3 targets, flying champaign, normally, the WCS will just automatically prioritize them based on distance. So let's say left is 1, right is 2, and center trail is 3. If I want to select center trail 3 as my next target, I pull up the jester menu and select 3. Priority 3 now becomes Priority 1 on the TID and you fire. I think this is also how Jester should PDSTT targets, as the AZ ALT, BRG info in the current version can just get too confusing.

I kinda agree, really draws the eye and not in a good way.

I'm guessing we're not going to have this level of damage detail until they work in the new damage model and make the visual assets to replicate these kinds of damages.
-
Wow, any info on how it got that? AAA, SAM, AA or mid air collision?

is the PH capable of pulse modes?
-
Would be interesting if with the other player's permission, you can switch seats. (pilot goes to RIO, rio goes to pilot). Though I kinda think that might be "cheating" in a sense.
-
So what can you get away with in terms of damage? I guess theoretically you could lose a taileron or a vertical stabilizer and still be okay, but could you still fly with half a wing? Also have you guys seen damage like mentioned above in DCS? I don't think I've seen battle damage other than the wings being completely clipped off.

Question, how does the Ph onboard radar work? Is it always on PD mode? Does it have HOJ capabilities?
-
I guess I kind of have to agree, as the navy's prime intercepter, this feature is essential for intercepting a target.
