Ya, you could always hear the 14s whining when they were coming in. The pitch(sound) went up and down a lot while they were the groove. So ya, I think they were really working those throttles. The only thing louder was the J52's on an A6. But none of them had the whine of the 14. Good magazine by the way! haha, YA! But once they got the bravos with the 110s and DFCS I think it was a huge improvement, flying wise that is. Maintenance on the 14 (all versions)was a WHOLE different story... That's fine, but I think we were all talking about real life stuff and the article, which is the topic.

nah, the 404 spools up pretty fast and definitely faster than the tf30. It's the same engine that was in the A7, Mirage 3, F111s and so on (w/ an afterburner attached to it.) it was already old going into the 14. And when your turbine blades disintegrate you will drop like a rock. Also, I don't ever recall an 18 dropping like a rock(alphas or charlies) when I was in. 404s were pretty reliable. I think I recall some 18Ds crashing a few years after I got out but I don't recall any18A or Cs crashing. I am sure some did but I think very few. I know a bunch of 14As took at dirt nap with the TF30

Ya, Alpha was pretty scary at times from what I was told. Fellow AD's that were 14b mechs and that had also worked on alphas told me how bad the TF30s were. And you can hear from an actual well known Navy pilot that talks about the alpha. He seemed(at least to, me) like that was his least "favorite" plane to fly. __

The Pentagon's Weapons Are 'Easily Hacked' With 'Basic Tools'
dopebogey replied to Hawkeye60's topic in Military and Aviation
Haha...Agreed! GAO is FAR from non-partisan...haha In fact, saying any government agency is non-partisan is funny. They all take sides. They all have agendas. ;) ...plus look who wrote the article...vice, what a joke. -
Why there isn't this antenna on DCS Stennis?
dopebogey replied to tifafan's topic in Bugs and Problems
Ya, so he created another one....haha:D https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=222380 ... -
Gotcha. Yea, I agree with you. I understand how they do it, but I personally would have a hard time with that. Seems like the time it would take me to fumble around to grab the controller would be the amount of time it takes my plane to take me into a dirt nap...haha :D

Here we see the mighty carrier working his second job on the weekends as an auto ferry to earn a little extra spending money -

So if we DO at some point get the Vulkan engine and can utlize more cores what is better then? Intel or Ryzen? I keep hearing diffent things. I have heard some say ryzen and some say intel. Get's a little confusing.

It's not too bad, but I agree with you fmedges. We were always too tired/busy for any of that stuff. Not sure how that had time for all that hubub...haha:D (PBS added a bit of fiction to it I think ;) )

Hi Fael...Do you mean you want to know how to activate them in DCS or just how people have been implementing them?

Anything with the Fulda gap I am for! That would be the be all end all campaign for me. (A GIUK gap map would be my second choice)

Yep, I think a lot of VR users use Voice Attack with the Vaicom add-on. Most everything that I don't have on my hotas is set up on voice attack. And Voice Attack is perfect for comms!

Ya, that's all we need is some government getting pissed off and making one of these aerospace company that ED works with clam up and shut their doors to them. :banned: ugh! It has always surprised me how much "unclassified" documentation is floating around out there on the interwebs

Exactly! VR isn't perfect. It's got it's flaws. But VR immersion? It's like a fat kid on a see-saw. It just out weighs everything else.:hehe:

This is great! Thank you Mr. Fitness!

I concur. I have both the rift and Odyssey, both are awesome. In fact, I assume most other HMDs are too compared to a regular monitor. I am sure you would be happy with any of them. THE real question is when you get one. You will be asking yourself "why wasn't I doing this sooner?!!!":D

I hope it's for consumer use. That would be awesome. Their commercial sets are pretty sweet. That add is pretty cryptic though:shifty:

Hi Andre, What is discontinued? The G-feeling effect in sim shaker? Just asking because I am going to pre-order the new ForceFeel from Realteus and just wondering what will be different in the software for that product :)
