If I recal correctly, remember reading at some forum that it wasn't exactly much maneuverable or easy to fly in Flanker 2.5... that's all.
-
In that case that's a pity, but I fully understand the economics factor behind decisions of this nature.
-
This I didn't know... Thank you for the heads up.
-
... and I'm all for trying the MIG-29K's turning capabilities, as the the A variant was a bit of a let down for what I expected IRL.
-
Completely agree. But it seems, part of those specific behaviors are also the very nature of both jets however... If I'm not mistaken, in real life the F-15C does hold the better T/W ratio and wing loading values, than: F-14 A/B, F-16C, F/A-18C, MiG-29A and even the Su-27... (Only the Mirage 2000 does have better wing loading values than the Eagle.) Also wrote here in the past, that indeed the Eagle's nose pointing capability / authority does feel easier than the MiG-29's one. Probably because of the AoA limiter in the MiG's flight control system, which automatically produce a pitch down input command almost always the stick is pulled back (or something like this)... causing a tracking guns solution to frequently end up in a wobbling / oscillating nose motion.

Man... +1 here, in the long gone early 1990's. Rest in peace. -
...forget the wallpaper. It was probably the 'options.lua' file and the 'full screen' option... I suppose.
-
Just to share my experience on this issue. DCS fail to boot (only at the 2nd session once PC is started), completely black screen and theme music keeps playing. - only happened after buying and installing Mi-8 MTV2 a couple days ago and : only if I use the Mi-8 MTV2 wallpaper. After some 7 or 8 sessions using a wallpaper other than the Mi-8's, DCS starts without any problem so far.

Thank you all for the insight! Yep it takes patience, coordination and slow command inputs. Managed to fly it in a more or less controled fashion (without ruining the generators) most of the time, also took it to around 19.000ft, but the landings are very poor yet. Also read Chuck's manual on it, and I'm also aware of VRS.
-
Hello, Yes, now there will be some reading of the manual's and stuf as it's due. Well, if you don't like some model very much, then you don't like it - that's a subjective matter of personal preference only, I see no problem at all. ( As long as one doesn't start too objective / specific claims like: "fighter A" does have better radar and missiles, and maneuvers much better that "fighter B" ; I don't see why people would get 'mad'. ) About not liking some module, what I do before spending money is very simple: Do I like this jet / helicopter in the real life, a little bit ? If yes, then I might buy it; otherwise I don't. That said, my very first ED DCS module was: MiG-21bis, and FC3 came second as I missed flying the MiG-29 and F-15 also. In the same way you don't see any propellers on my signature, as they are not much my thing.
-
Thank you guys. ...well, in the meanwhile I've just bought my first ED DCS helicopter a few minutes ago: Mi-8 MTV2. Although I always was more of a "jet fighter" guy, I'm also not strange to 1 or 2 helicopter sim / game, so I 'pulled the trigger' in a too good to let pass price on the Mi-8.

Hello, In the middle of everything, I'm a bit lost regarding a forecast on the release date; is there anything more concrete on this ? Thank you.
-
-
Most probably because of the TF-30 engine's significantly delayed response time, and therefore you are over-correcting throttle input...
-
Tipically I'll use: - a 6 to 8 degrees pitch angle when landing (either in Carrier or Airbase); - small and few adjustments on the throttle; - point the flight path marker (velocity vector), to the beggining of the runway (or to the end if landing at the Carrier).
-
I suppose the O.P. is refering to the tendency the F-15C has to start drifting left and right (sometimes briskly), at the tarmac when aplying the wheel brakes. This drift tendency, can eventually cause the airframe to roll and the wings will collide with the tarmac.

This is I love this sim. Edited the F-14A's Case 1 Carrier Landing Instant action, changed it to bad weather... it loooks like a completely new mission ! (Also tried at first to create a mission by my own, but there was no communication with the Carrier, neither the same immersion feeling as in the Instant Action mission.)
-
Also heard that one from him when doing a very soft landing at the airbase's tarmac. Today I've heard the following, after missing the carrier wires several times in bad weather: " Could you please take us down the next time; I really have to take a s***. "
-
Very good ! Thank you for the insight.

I'm very much enjoying the reading, so I also believe you guys can keep this 'technical'. As far as I can remember from another recent Mi-24 Hind sim, the chin-turret moveable gun does indeed have its own appeal... but this is a somewhat subjective aspect, as some of us are more into these 'avioncs quirks' and others not so much. It was a nice feature, with the gun being aimed through it own sights on the cockpit and all that stuf. However this has been talked about here before, and is obviously down to each one's personal preference. That said, I must admit that playing it in single player wasn't very easy / practical though. As I barely recall, to aim and employ effectively the gun, one had to give commands to the AI back-seater constantly, or to the auto-pilot, or something like that, to try keep the enemy on your forward quarter FOV... which isn't much convenient when trying to shoot down a moving target (i.e. enemy helicopter) which is also shooting back at you. Also: using the 12.7mm gun at enemy helos, took a considerable amount of rounds to cause some damage; very probably because of what has been said here: the 12.7mm gun not being powerful enough. (To the point that, sometimes I even questioned myself if I was hitting the target at all.)

Preciselly the same issue I've had, and this solved it: https://forums.eagle.ru/forum/english/dcs-world-topics/mods-and-apps/liveries-skinning/f-14/7147603-how-to-proceed-to-get-a-3rd-party-livery-repaired?p=7152178#post7152178

Not too impressed with the A model and new sounds....

That specifically is for me "the million-dollar question".
