It's working alright with the last week's 2.5.6.57264 Open Beta ( 04 / 11 / 20 ). As long as the sub-folders's content from USN and Master are in their respective PC folders, everything is there ( navy squadron insignias, medals, ranks, stripes, etc.) I'm not a programer so I don't know how much work does it take, but it would be awesome if ED incorporated the US Navy cathegory in the logbook. edit Oh I remember now, yes everytime there's a new patch for DCS it gets incompatible with IC. That's why they really could make it the US Navy a permanent cathegory.

The Legit Discussion for the D Model Tomcat
Top Jockey replied to HairyPOOnuggets's topic in Heatblur Simulations
There was even an officialy produced version for the FSX called "F-14X", it featured the F-14B version I believe. Although generally it was very good, several modes and functions were missing, one of the reasons told by one of the developers himself - the FSX engine only allowed a small number of functions. -
That's right. I use to keep: \Config\Input, and \MissionEditor (logbook) file.

Thank you for the insight r4y30n. Indeed I've looked at that diagram in the manual, but wasn't very sure - as there's also that vertical scan area, and the mode itself is designated as "boresight" afterall... On the bold, I really didn't know it.
-
That button switches between Normal and Boresight "missile modes". Using with AIM-9 : - NORM (Boresight SCAN mode) : the AIM-9 seeker head scans in a circular pattern - bigger area (although not represented in the HUD); - BRSIT (Boresight mode) : the AIM-9 seeker head looks straight ahead with the ADL cross (smaller and precise area). Using with AIM-7 : - NORM (Normal mode) : essentially the AIM-7 receives the input from Radar, for an already STT locked target; - BRSIT (Boresight mode) : kind of a manual missile guidance mode (without the need of a previous Radar Lock); In this mode there is a Radar flood area (I believe around the ADL cross), which must be pointed at the target until missile impact. Using with AIM-54 : (Didn't look much at the Boresight mode with the AIM-54 yet.)

Random F14 flyer, PLM does not show in HUD?
Top Jockey replied to majapahit's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Yep, that's right. The several different modes and functions, available in the Tomcat (and others) for weapons employment can easily lead to misinterpretations. What people do mix-up many times is: PLM (Pilot Lockon Mode) - Radar lock mode CAGE / SEAM - Sidewinder Seeker lock function Boresight / Boresight SCAN - Sidewinder Seeker search modes -
It does ! Maybe it will be quickier to copy paste the 2 files from the mod below. I've just installed the SD-10 air-to-air missile mod and let me tell you... this does give the J-11 another authority in BVR combat ! Eagle drivers beware. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3312566/ Thank you @raz410 !

Hello everyone, I do like what I've been reading here about the 80's; I do, afterall I'm from that time. But it seems to me there's a catch: In order the 70's and 80's era to be reasonably realistically featured in terms of 'hardware', (and I'm not talking about whishful "balance" while playing DCS), it would be ideal to have some more fighter / interceptor models for REDFOR. From quick recall I would say MiG-25, MiG-31, Su-15... because from the BLUEFOR there are several models already featured: - we have the US teen series complete already for instance, altough not exactly all the versions from the 80's era, but that's a start; - Mirage 2000C; - and there's the F-4 Phantom II and the Mirage F-1 coming eventually. On the other hand I feel the REDFOR only has the MiG-29 and Su-27 which make it under represented in the 80's era on DCS. I also know the MiG-23 Flogger will eventually arrive, but still.

Almost the same here: never had a tail hook rebound on the F-14, the F/A-18 on the other hand does it 50 % of my carrier landings. (I know I'm yet to perfect my carrier landings.) ... don't recal at the moment who exactly, but I remember reading here by someone that: " If it was up to him, he would order the ship's crew to engage the CIWS on anyone who would try to land not 'on speed' ".

Would very much like to help, as I also have my personal 'story' with joysticks (acquired my latest one merely 2 days ago), but I don't personally know that F22 joystick model. So where I would start is: assuming you feel comfortable at disassembling and tweaking with them, do both models gimbals look physically similar ?
-
Almost 90 hours in the F-14B here (with a pilot profile exclusivelly for it), and more than 400 landings mostly in the Carrier !
-
Oh I see, in those cases there was an F-16 or A-10 grip previously installed on that base. In that case I'll leave as it is, thank you for the insight.

DCS: F-14 Development Update - Enter the -A!
Top Jockey replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Previous page, from post # 67 onwards. -
Thank you Tundra. Yes it went exactly like that. Only installed the drivers though, about the firmware (don't exactly know what is does - updates drivers ?), I'll leave it for another time as the combo is working perfectly so far...
-
Would appreciate your advice please: - should I install: firmware, drivers or both ? - before or after, plugging the Hotas base USB to my PC ? - should the grip be mounted on the Hotas base already ? Thank you.
-
And Thrustmaster (again) it was. Was finally lucky to find a major online / street store company (here in Portugal), which indeed had both products in stock. And so, both the F/A-18C grip + Hotas magnetic base (only available through online order) arrived at the store today; merely 2 days after ordering... I guess contrary to other companies, these really had some stock on their warehouse. The prices ? F/A-18C grip : 181,90 € Hotas magnetic base : 119,90 €
-
No way; every time I go up in my F-14 I'm virtually invincible...

DCS: F-14 Development Update - Enter the -A!
Top Jockey replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Maybe not, maybe not. From the newsletter I get the impression the product is very much ready by now - and so I believe it really will be available at the 18th ! So I've used the humorous expression, as I have no doubt this time it will really be ready in two weeks ! -

Top Jockey replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Then, if anyone asks how long will it take for the A version to arrive: " Two Weeks. " TM -
I see now... yep shaddy ways of doing business in these times. My T.16000M and TWCS combo costed me 125 € here in Portugal 2 years ago - I even had to look to my bill again to believe it, because of the prices I see them asking today.
-
Hello again, would appreciate your advice pelase: It seems the Thrustmaster HOTAS magnetic base (and the F-18 grip) are getting somewhat scarce ? - my country's computer components shops only allow online order for these products... and although they initially say they have it in stock, after a while they admit they'll have to order it from the suppliers (and therefore taking I don't know how much time to eventually arrive) ; - at ebay and amazon, there are very few units (with the respective shipping and tax costs), or I'm I doing something wrong ? Does anyone of you know other options ? Thank you.
-
Indeed I'm curious to know which AIM-9 variants will be featured in the upcoming F-14A...
-
no such promise ever made COMPLETE F-16 in 2020?
Top Jockey replied to giullep's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
This ^ Indeed the AIM-9's modes and functions are waiting to be completed... -
The same impression here.
