i ended up fixing it by doing a work around.
1) i removed the terrain from the mods folder and placed it on the desktop
2) started to download the terrain from scratch
3) after a few seconds I exited the sim
4) i then cut and pasted the terrain folder from the desktop into the _downloads folder
5) i then re-started the download, but DCS found my files and used them instead of re-downloading it all
It took a couple mins to do all this but was still way faster than a complete re-download
interesting. it looks like mine is saying 24ms frametime so that's pretty far from the 16 you mentioned. i wonder if that's causing the issues i'm reporting
thats how i thought it's supposed to work (like the mi-8 and ka-50) however pressing the rudder trimmer button while twisting the joystick does not actually trim the mi-24 or keep the rudder at the position.
so still not sure what the "rudder trimmer" checkbox does
Since the normal rudder trimmer isn't working for a twist stick, wondering what the "Rudder Trimmer" option in the special menu actually does? I tried flying with it checked and unchecked but don't see a difference
So having a strange issue that just began this week. I have a 60hz monitor and v-sync enabled so the frame rate tries to stay at 60fps.
In the sim I enable frame rate displayed in the corner. Beginning this week, it says 60fps but the sim seems to slow down to below that when over dense areas. So the fps seems to drop down to like 30-40fps however it still says 60fps.
60fps in DCS looks pretty darn smooth and that's what I'm used to. So I noticed when the sim feels to have dropped down below that. Anyone had this happen to them before? It's frusterating to not know the true frame rate so I can diagnose the issue.
i tried this at 10am in late december and cloudy. what's the rule for petrovich to be able to see and give targets? i mean they're 1 mile right in front of me but he won't provide a target list.
is it the cloud cover? does it have to be clear? trying to figure out the rules here
Hey guys - so my PC broke and I re-installed windows on a new SSD (same PC) and reinstalled DCS but copied the channel and jf-17 first to an external ssd so i wouldn't have to re-download them and save some time. however now i'm geting this. how can i re-authorize them without uninstallnig and redownloading?
"And they're all connected so if I make the big one smaller, then small one gets even smaller. And vice versa." - that's really interesting. i didn't realize different armor vehicles had preprogrammed different sized fire and smokes. i guess that's just to mix things up so there's a variety of smokes going on at the same time?
I'm wanting to use the shkval to point to an enemy group's position on the ground and create a target or nav point that I can then quickly reference later during battle. How can this be done?
Thanks!
strange. i loaded up the caucuses map with just a few vehicles and this is what it looks like now. does this look correct? These are both small armor vehicles. is the smoke suppose to be different widths?
Which keyboard command is this called? If you search for its exact name it does not exist. The switch to the right exists, but not the 3 way switch here. What is it called?
Hey guys. I want to make a carrier template that has my carrier group along with its support and static vehicles so I can place it in different missions. They take quite a long time to build and get right. Currently I have only figured out how to save the carrier group template but none of its support vehicles are with it
Thanks
Hmm, just installed the mod and blew up a truck but the fire looks insanely massive, not like the screenshots on the front page. that fire looks like a nuclear meltdown and the smoke from an entire forest on fire
is this right?
yep that mod works. i actually saw it before but saw the date from 2015 so skipped over it, but then on another glance i see he updated it in 2020 so much better chance of working
