  1. problem is i'm a notorious alt-tabber. i have chuck's guide i'm following along with plus youtube tutorials and research documents. i get real into it. but i never had the sim behave this way on me until recently, sort of the opposite of bell_rj. so strange
  2. no, it's not limp. however the forces acting on the stick were really wonky and unnatural feeling (really limp roll but much tighter pitch). thus the whole point of this thread was to ask other FFB users if the forces have been updated at all in the last 6 months to feel better as the jet is being constantly worked on
  3. glad it helped, but sad DCS hasn't solved this long standing bug
  4. Is this missile supposed to be backwards like this on the Iranian Patrol Boat? Is there a way to flip it around?
  5. Never too small
  6. wow can't believe i just discovered this. simply amazing!
  7. these look really interesting i'll check em out. cheers
  8. which download did you use for the smoke trails?
  9. Hey guys - I'm wanting to make a helicopter mission with a fancy yacht capable of having a helicopter land on a pad. Does anyone know if a boat addon exists that is a nice yacht like this? Thanks
  10. GUYS, I'VE SOLVED IT! For weeks now I thought maybe I was going crazy. But this evening when I booted up DCS and started a flight, it was silky smooth again, just the way I remembered it! I checked the frametimer and it was a constant 16ms, not jumping around like I posted about before. I was stunned. I go write and email and do a couple things then go back to the sim to continue my flight when, to my horror, the terrible jaggies are back . Something had changed again. The only thing I did was alt-tab out and in. So I pull a hail mary and searech "DCS world alt tab fps issue" and lo and behold, this is a long-standing bug in DCS I found a thread back in 2018: Their solution was to press "left alt + enter" to have sim switch screen types (windowed, full, etc) until, like magic, the smooth 60fps screen appears. This is the magic workaround you must do if the sim doesn't like whatever is going on with your screen. I've tried this multiple times and it seems to be working every time. I hope this helps someone else that was losing their damn mind like I was
  11. hey taz, did you get a chance to look at the short video i posted? i'm wondering if other folks' frametime also jumps around like that when displaying 60fps
  12. thanks ill try this. ive also read somewhere deleting some folders like fxo or metashaders or something can clear things out but not sure this is an interesting thread, thanks. yeah i'm wondering if this is the same bug i'm encountering
  13. yes these are the same. the "All Labels" is the main one folks use as it turns all of the labels on, then also cycles through the 4 different label types. Whereas there's a way to press "LShft + F10" to have all the labels turn on and then all the labels turn off. As it is now you have to cycle through the 4 different types each time you simply want to glance at the labels. It's pretty time consuming if you're in a tight spot
  14. no something has changed. it's like vsync isn't working. i have a strong rig and get 100+ fps normally but use vsync to lock it to 60hz as that makes it much more smooth. so while DCS still says it's running at 60fps its like its actually being rendered at 40. again this did not used to be like this. even flying the Christen Eagle through the Nevada desert (aka the easiest flight on your hardware) still makes DCS behave in this new, unsmooth fashion. i'm wondering if there a way to reset all of the graphics settings as maybe theres a bug
  15. no my old SSD broke so I couldn't salvage any of the modified DCS files so I'm having to get DCS back to the way I like it and my old age isn't helping my memory. i have modified the labels.lua file so I can see the labels further away, but i hate having to cycle through all the modes. i just want on or off
  16. it's working now. i restarted DCS and am able to freely move antenna elevation. looks like it was a glitch
  17. Quick q: before I had to reinstall DCS, I had it set up so pressing the "all labels" button would either turn on all of the labels or turn off all of the labels. Now after reinstalling DCS when pressing "all labels" it cycles through 4 different modes, all labels, distance, name, dot (or something like that). This adds a bunch of extra unnecessary button presses as I just want labels either on or off. How can you set up DCS to achieve this? I know it's possible as it's how I used to have it. I don't want to have to cycle all the label mods, I just want them all on or all off. Thanks!
  18. ok so i was checking these values out more and noticed somtimes if i took a screenshot it would say 24ms and sometimes it would say 16ms, while all the while reporting it was running at 60fps. Even when locked to 40fps this would happen. So I took a short video to show what I now see if it looking like it flips from 16ms to 24ms back and forth. I wonder if this is 1) normal for other people and 2) if this is what's causing the perceived fps drops in my sim? https://streamable.com/bqjnmz
  19. ok i limited via nvidia control panel to 40fps. Looks like Frametime is 25ms
  20. how does one go about forcing a lower fps in dcs?
  21. i ended up fixing it by doing a work around. 1) i removed the terrain from the mods folder and placed it on the desktop 2) started to download the terrain from scratch 3) after a few seconds I exited the sim 4) i then cut and pasted the terrain folder from the desktop into the _downloads folder 5) i then re-started the download, but DCS found my files and used them instead of re-downloading it all It took a couple mins to do all this but was still way faster than a complete re-download
  22. interesting. it looks like mine is saying 24ms frametime so that's pretty far from the 16 you mentioned. i wonder if that's causing the issues i'm reporting
  23. thats how i thought it's supposed to work (like the mi-8 and ka-50) however pressing the rudder trimmer button while twisting the joystick does not actually trim the mi-24 or keep the rudder at the position. so still not sure what the "rudder trimmer" checkbox does
  24. what am I looking for with frametime
