The math for this is not difficult it is first year college engineering calculus, high school trigonometry, and physics. I would hope any flight sim development team would have this capability in house. Also the formulas are all over the internet in physics/math forums as its just a standard math and geometry problem.

100% agree with everything here. Their previous experience is with MSFS which for the most part is a pretty simplistic sim. I think they saw another market but unfortunately thought their previous methodology would be good enough for DCS. I think they have found that the DCS community is vastly different then the majority of the MSFS customer that are just fine with a simple model. While I think Nineline and Bignewy have done a tremendous amount to get the general bugs looked at instead of ignored I have little confidence in RAZBAM's ability to deliver the Harrier with all its major systems modeled correctly (e.g. ARBS). I doubt they have access to the needed documents as most are off limits to export. Therefore the way I see it this module should have been either advertised as FlamingCliffs level or never seen the light of day. No matter how much begging in the Heatblur forum for the F-14D the team is not budging from their not going to make it decision. They can't get the needed documents to make a DCS level representation of the aircraft and its systems so its not happening.

ADMIRAL189'S CORNER - INCOMING SHIP MODELS
ruxtmp replied to Admiral189's topic in Static/AI Mods for DCS World
I believe there is already a Los Angeles class sub mod. I know I had it loaded at one point but since its never really doing anything I uninstalled it. -
Bignewy and Nineline, I want to take the time to thank you for reviewing these long lasting issues and concerns with the Harrier module. I do not envy your positions but I am very thankful that you two are looking into addressing and hopefully helping to have the community's concerns with this module resolved. Thanks again.

Unfortunately at this point I feel RAZSCAM is running similar to a ponzi scheme. They need the funds from new modules in order to support the old ones. It is just a matter of time before it implodes as they will not be able to keep robbing from their new products to finish the old ones. The whole Early Access scheme generally pushes this model of operation. I fully expect them to release the Mig-23 and the F-15E before any real work is done on the AV-8. Then the community will start to ask for things on these and the cycle will start all over again.
-
Take a look at the Still Alive thread. The module is far from complete and the developer appears to be having great difficulty implementing systems and correcting issues. I would not expect much of anything from the developer in terms of a more complex aircraft.
-
Well that seals it for me. Never buying from this developer again. I would not even call the AV-8 Early Access its closer to Early Alpha but whatever. Live and learn I suppose. The good thing is I have enough other modules to fly but I would seriously like my money back.
-
I agree, at this point I think only ED can fix the Harrier. I wouldn't worry about RAZBAM failing though, they have an entire new flight sim market to sell to. This will either be a good thing as it will give them a massive influx of cash that they could use to support their DCS products or they may stay the same course and just do what they are currently doing. All I can say is that until the harrier is completed I won't be purchasing any of their products unless they have stellar reviews and are out of beta.

At this point the module is best used as AI, static object, or maybe in the simple mode. RAZBAM indicated during a podcast that the module is, or maybe was a learning tool for their team with no clear timeline to finish if ever. I would think that they will be quickly sticking their fingers in the lucrative new commercial and private plane simulator that features the whole world as a 150GB download. That is where the money is going to be for the next few years so I am not expecting anything from this team anytime soon.

These would work nice for the Al-Zara Thermal Power Plant. The map has town objects depicting the power plant now.

I am in the slow process of placing the SAM sites and military targets as per some location maps available online. Nice thing with this map is that the dirt mounds are visible for many of the SA-3 and SA-2 sites
-
RAZBAM does not really use this forum you maybe luckier if you try their facebook page I think that is what they use to communicate about their products.
-
While all those places would be great I think this map was made to only represent the Strait itself. Of all the listed location in OP I think these location would be really all that is needed as well as a more detailed radar sites and fixed SAM locations.

In my opinion this module is still very buggy and remains in early alpha/release or whatever they want to call it. Others say its perfect and works exactly as its supposed to minus the incomplete items, so your results may vary. There have been some minor fixes but a lot is still undone or not functioning well, again in my opinion. I only use it as AI to avoid the frustration in SP. You need to script a lot of things to get the AI to work well but this is the case for most AI and not specifically module related.
-
It's a plopter. And the whole RAZBAM AV-8B N/A is a mess and likely will never be finished, I already hung it up to dry as an AI module. Even RAZBAM admitted that it was a module they intended to use as a learning platform and has no completion date. I dont even think they have the appropriate documentation to finish it and are apparently waiting for some kind of military training contract to come in to get the info. Or at least that is the best I could make from the podcast.

Not sure if I downloaded a corrupt zip or installed it wrong but if I load this mod it prevents any non-static object from existing in the sim. I can place the objects in mission editor but they are not rendered in the sim. Only player aircraft and static objects load into running mission with this mod. Deleting the mod and associated objects resolves the issue.
-
I am pretty sure the nozzles were at 0 degrees each time. The whole module seems buggy, maybe when its out of early access and beta I will try it again.
-
I have had this issue as well in SP when I flew this module instead of just using it as AI. Best I can tell it is a random issue. About 50/50 chance the IRMAV will fire when locked on a target. I watched all the youtube videos and read the procedures and followed them to the letter. Sometimes the missile launches and sometimes it does not. Changing targets does nothing, only thing I can do is restart the mission and try again. Usually that works but sometimes I had to quit and restart DCS.

USS Oak Hill Coming Soon!!
ruxtmp replied to Admiral189's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Admiral, awesome work and thank you for this wonderful contribution to the sim. -
I am trying to learn blender to make some new building. I think that it will be the mod community that will need to bring new targets into the sim. I wish I was a modeler because it is not as easy as it appears. I want to make some port facility objects and oil refineries for the PG map as well as some buildings to bomb in the Bandar Abbas area.

Will we get Persian Gulf Instant Action missions?
ruxtmp replied to key_stroked's topic in AV-8B N/A
With only about 10% of the 180 reported AV-8 N/A bugs resolved I think the team has more pressing priorities, like rolling out early alpha versions of the F-15E and Mig-23 to keep the team funded for their next module development. :megalol: -
USS Oak Hill Coming Soon!!
ruxtmp replied to Admiral189's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I am not holding my breath on that since its a RAZBAM ship and their ability to fix issues is slow at best. -

ruxtmp replied to Admiral189's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I agree this is a much needed ship but if I had a vote I would pick LPD 4 Austin class over the San Antonio. It just seems more period correct for the planes we currently have in DCS. But I will take whatever Admiral decides to make. -
Johnny, can you show us a video of this thing in action? It would be so cool to see this plane flying around low level in the valleys of the Caucus map.
