Its a clear WiP thing...even the lex effect needs work...the "overwing" one needs more but I think it also needs visual work as it looks too turbulent and messy imo...
-
Agree. Not sure if they are larger but they are MUCH thinner, thats for sure (it would be nice to have some kind of variable thickness on them btw)...also the behaviour has been improved such as when rolling the plane, which made them make unrealistic curves...however, they are still behaving like this, just its less evident but the problem is still there. A thing thats been fixed is that the trails in the Hornet are no longer angled outwards, which was incorrect, now they are paralel or slightly inwards as it should.

just noticed that the head movement of the pilot now also supports up and down!! very cool for multiplayer!

I dont think so...couldnt find a single one in Normandy nor caucasus...might be wrong though...

Could you please give some info about the state of the clean (no pylons) FM for the Hornet? thanks!

It looks nice, though maybe its too "blurry", but imho these are not overwing vapours but more the vapour generated behind the lerx, over the joint between wings and body, at extreme alpha and only when there is a very humid ambient, like this: ...with overwing vapour I expected something like this: A more "close to the surfaces" effect. Maybe its not yet finished, I hope so...the effect on the lex looks better imo. Anyway, keep up the good job!!:)

New option in the ME for dust and smoke...finally the date is now in the weather tab which also has a new icon with a clock and a cloud...nice!!! EDIT:also some over wing vapour fx are present though look very WiP yet.

Afterburner FX for the M2000? When?
Ala12Rv-watermanpc replied to Ala12Rv-watermanpc's topic in M-2000
Juznco, the sparkles in your screen are just rain drops being illuminated by the fire...as far as I know no module yet have that effect. The hornet have some similar fx (but not exactly the one I mean) when you look the nozzles slightly from the side which is very well done btw. I was refering to the fire sparks that usually are visible in hte M2000 engine when in afterburner. All a/c emit them but in hte mirage 2000 are more abundant and you can constantly see very sharp flames being spit...here you have a video showing it: About the "disk", I mean this: the texture of the disk is the afterburner FX of the F-15 last time I checked it, so is invoked in some lua file iirc. Curiously enough in the F-15 it has the same issue, its behind the engine parts mesh and so BLOCKED by these parts instead of being placed OVER them using the alpha channel to become more or less transparent according to the afterburner intensity. So basically, the afterburner in the m2000 is really messed now and after so many time, and knowing this is only an art thing, I think its time to get this fixed/done already please. Thanks! -
Hi guys, since the release of the module something that has been bugging me is the lack of a proper (made for the m2000 instead of using the F-15 one) afterburner FX :(...it looks like the "disk" with the texture representing the AB is behind the engine parts and so its not visible correctly. I wonder when are we getting a proper AB FX for the M2000??, with custom textures according to the particularities of the mirage and if possible some kind of improved/new animations with sparkles, smooth transitions and such. After so many years i think is time to deliver what the product description says about this: "Realistic afterburner and over-wing vapour effects". There is not even an afterburner FX at all so... Please Razbam, any info on this? thanks!

Since the release of the Hornet i have seen a couple of new commands in its sdef's files which Im not sure what they do so I wonder if someone can explain a bit what they control: -distance_filter_offset -silence_radius -peak_radius I can imagine a bit for their names but would like to have a more detailed info if possible. Thanks!

Flight Model Change in 8/15 Open Beta update?
Ala12Rv-watermanpc replied to San Patricio's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
The FM was also changed a couple of updates ago and didnt remember so many people talking about it. The increased "wobble" and roll "instability" feels correct to me, before it felt too "perfect" or artificial now the plane feels in general snappier with slightly more pitch authority. I have no numbers nor in depth info but according to videos the latest FM feels quite close except in extreme low speed-out of the envelope maneuvers where I would love to know (once for all) if the version simulated is capable of performing some of the maneuvers performed in these videos or there is some software updates in these hornets in order to enable them: Here at 1:26: I know Matt made a video doing this but while i could get closer to what you can see on the video, its still quite far from the footage...the plane seems to lack that final tail "drift"...at very low speed it seems like that final "push" is not possible, like the horizontal stabs dont want to deflect enough. I tried at a variety of fuel configs and speeds. Another maneuver that I cant replicate is one even showed in the DCS hornet flight demo at 1:30: Here is in real life (3:27): While I get close I cant manage to make it as "aggresively" as shown in the videos, again, the final "tail drift" rotation to almost zero speed is much slower and the rotated angle not so big in DCS. I thought it could also be the camera angle but after LOTS of different viewing angles I definitely cant perform that maneuver in that way. In DCS the Hornet wants to continue the loop in a "circle" way instead of "breaking" the loop and suddenly set itself at 90º with respect the followed trajectory in the last second. Also, I wonder if that last bit of performance is lost because the NO PYLONS FM is not yet present?...any info about the state of this configuration's FM would be great. -
Nice work mate!!, thanks for it! :)

Oh, ok, I thought it was an actual "page" not the use of the TCD to control the options in the perimeter of the radar's page...sorry then!, and thanks for the help to both! Btw, I was interested on this because when slewing in the hud to designate ground targets for "AUTO" bombing mode, at least for me, the TDC moves EXTREMELY sensitive while not the case when slewing the cursor on the radar page which is fine once configured in the control settings but as they are the same control I cant configure the cursor for ground designation separately thats why I thought maybe there was a page where you could configure the TDC, kind of the one in the A-10C where you can choose sensitivity... thanks!

In the latest news letter it says: "Added Hornet radar page TDC control" Can someone please tell me where is that DDI psage and what is supposed to do? thanks!

[FIXED INTERNALLY] Static Object <10 mile Visibility Distance
Ala12Rv-watermanpc replied to SonofEil's topic in General Bugs
+1, also the explosions effect dissapears at very close distances, then you zoom quite a bit and suddenly the smoke/explosion itself appears abruptly again. Also noticed a noticeable decrease of trees at some places.
