  1. Same as above for Slaw. My pedals had a damaged piece after delivery but Slaw spent quite a bit of time identifying the problem and setting me up with replacement parts and a discount. Top notch guy.
  2. Nothing is sturdier than Slaw's pedals. Absolutely the best. (Though Baur's pedals have their own Russian cool-factor.) Crosswinds are toys for boys! Real men use metal pedals. :D
  3. Pretty much never works but it sure makes their life more stressful.
  4. Pickle. http://www.navy.mil/ah_online/deptStory.asp?dep=3&id=75777
  5. Yeah, it sucks. ED hasn't seemed to have made a dent in that problem, even with the gamma slider implemented. I should probably explain what shaders are and that of course VR supports shaders, but it's easier to just say that no, SweetFX and ReShade will not work in VR. (They're shader injectors. https://reshade.me/forum/suggestions/1611-regarding-the-oculus-rift)
  6. Good, the VPC grip looks absurdly tall, even without an extension.
  7. To me it looks phenomenal! The labels wont match my assignments, in all likelyhood, but I love the look.
  8. These model import mods are out of control. :megalol:
  9. No! It really doesn't. Although you're likely to spend a lot more time squinting at cockpit labels.
  10. Dude... you're the opposite of PR for VKB. I don't know if it's the language barrier, or what, but you just keep coming across as a jerk.
  11. I get it! Didn't mean to imply that you were complaining, that's on me. I think ED's choice just makes groups like yours less likely. No intent to derail your thread.
  12. ...and this is how ED will gradually, unintentionally, strangle all 3rd parties.
  13. Excellent, thank you for the update!
  14. Submarines?! Sooner or later, you're going to run out of models. :megalol:
  15. Without a doubt, an inauspicious start. I think the extensive concurrency in the F-35's design tends to magnify the number of problems when combined with the broad requirements. When you look at the capabilities of the originally fielded F-16A compared to the Block 15 delivered 3 years later, the first delivered jets look like prototypes. I think the F-35 is facing the same struggle in some areas, but part of the challenge is that the baseline IOT&E requirement is much broader than last generation's multi-role jets. In short, delivering a true multi-role airplane should be expected to take a while. It took the Hornet and Viper years to get where they are today, and we're asking the F-35 to do that from day 1. The more defendable counter-argument, of course, is that we should not ask the F-35 to do that many missions to begin with. That's why I wonder if it's part of the natural progression of strike aviation toward the "quarterback" role that 5th gen guys are playing with right now. We'll adapt! The latter is undeniable! Whether the Rhino is more well-rounded may be tough to say, but it's certainly more mature. Thanks for your replies!
  16. Mission specific design for the F/A-18? While it is true that the F-16 had a mandate as a lightweight air defense fighter in line with Boyd's (Sprey's) thinking, the F/A-18 may be considered the first true multi-role fighter. It fell neither solely within the fleet air defense nor attack roles, and was produced with compromises made to perform its multiple roles. Do you not feel the multi-role concept (and compromises required) has been validated by the Hornet and subsequently by the Viper? But that's huge! It also was fielded with the intentionally heavily de-rated F404 and could not originally carry a missile larger than Sparrow with which to perform its FADF role. (Which I imagine was one of the reasons every Tomcat guy was lining up to take a shot at your jet.) I read all of your comments with some fascination and I'm interested to know more about your thoughts on the multi-role concept as it relates to design compromise. Is it not reasonable to say that the same hard choices were made on the F-35? It indicates the trend of the strike aviation platform toward active ISR, battle management, and precision deep strike. This, to me, reflects the progress of technology and the killing business. Follow-up question: do you think the fog of war is inevitable for strike aviation? Can the F-35's touted SA and information-gathering capabilities offset its shortcomings in maneuver?
  17. Happy birthday, FM meister! с днем рождения!
  18. Great information, thank you! Unfortunately, I wouldn't hope for the 2.0/2.5 engine to provide better CPU utilization.
  19. It's philosophically different. If you like your force sensing stick, stay with it. The ability to combine a pressure feedback with a travel feedback is what makes many pilots (at least initially) prefer a traditional full motion stick to a force-transducer type.
  20. Ah. Yeah, a philosophically different design choice.
  21. I own the VKB Gunfighter. It's magnificent, I highly recommend it. It made flight sims fun again for me. Everyone, boo this man!
  22. Same thing happened to VKB, and the Gunfighter is not their first product. I was very concerned also, but their customer service kept me engaged and the product MORE than made up for the disappointment in shipping delays. I'm sure this stick will be worth the wait also.
  23. Holy marketing graphic, Batman! ;)
