  1. Hi guys. Thanks for all the ideas. My proclip is lit up when it is plugged in even if the computer is not operating, probably because of some bios settings. I will change that, and I am prepared to leave my controllers plugged in from now on... As for using USB hub for all controllers, I have one doubt... All the controllers communicate with the CPU via one single USB port to which the USB hub is connected: Will they interfere with each other? Will reponse time for each controller be stretched? Will performance be affected in any way? Thanks again guys.
  2. Do you guys unplug your joysticks, trackir and rudder pedals every time you are done playing? I have been doing so because, a long time ago, I read in a thread that someone got his Warthog Hotas cooked, because his was plugged into the USB ports when the OS is loading, during which time the electric signal generated is too strong for the integrated circuits in Warthog (which is supposed to be a premium product!) I got scared and unplug my controllers before shutting down the computer, and plug them in only after the OS is fully loaded. I find that exceedingly troublesome. As for trackir, especially for the pro clip, I guess there is an additional reason to unplug it. The small bulbs generating IR signals have limited lifespan. When plugged in, the bulbs are lit up, and are wasting their life. So what are your experiences and suggestions? Thanks.
  3. Thanks for your help. I reinstalled the DX runtime libraries as directed by some other thread, and it worked. With the awesome sound, I finally started flying with the Su-27 PFM. And I already managed to crash once. :D EDIT: I just discovered that with DX runtime library reinstalled, I can apply the mods now. All my problems are cured with this one trick. Awesome.
  4. It's the week of black Friday... Go get some decent graphics card and ram. Won't cost you a fortune but can bring your sim exprience to another level. Also, there is a DCS sale going on. Take advantage of it.
  5. I guess it is just installation files, which anybody can download for free, burned to a DVD. It is not official because there is no official FC3 DVD. It is not piracy either because the installation files are official. Unless, of course, it comes with an "unofficial" serial number. You'll see when it arrives.
  6. I once collided with F-16 in Su-27. One of the wings of F-16 was cut in half, but no scratch was left on Su-27.
  7. I too have a windows 8.1 hybrid device. Might try it. thanks for info.
  8. Kudos to your excellent tutorial videos!
  9. Just downloaded it...
  10. The legendary Ironhand? Is this the one?
  11. There is always the command-line-dcs-updater route. It's never failed me so far. Check out one of the sticky thread for detail.
  12. It's simple... Find the DCS2.0 button on your graphics card, amd press it once. It should cure your problem... hppefully.
  13. Cobra maneuver at 1000km/h has little to do with either flight model (in game) or aerodynamic design (in real life). Rather, it has everything to do with onboard fly-by-wire computer, or the simulation of it in game, which should prevent such a maneuver at such extreme speed. IF, however, one is able to go around the control computer and attempt the Cobra maneuver at 1000km/h, then the overload will shatter the airframe in an instant. Again, in this latter case, it is not the flight model, but the damage model, that matters.
  14. Yes, there is a specific manual for Su-27 now. You can delete the non-beta install, and switch to OB entirely. But then you risk not being able to play at all, because OB by definition can be quite unstable (more so than released versions, I mean :D).
  15. Audio is not working for me... There is no sound. I tried Su-27 and Mig-21, neither makes any sound. My computer plays other sounds (music and system sounds) OK. Also, I tried a few mods (PeterP's HDR, SweetFX 1.4 and 1.5.1, and Mustang's shader mod. Yeah, yeah, I know. I am not suppose to use mods in ob. I just wanted to try.). DCS crashes, either without loading the main screen or when trying to load a mission. I have tried repairing the install to no avail. Any other idea? Thanks.
  16. DCS 1.2.11 is available in ob http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=2222580#post2222580 Finally my Su-27...
  17. FC3 level aircrafts are here to stay, because they serve many purposes. They are easier to develop, don't dig a hole in your wallet, and are easier to master. So they have a wider audience, attract new comers, and bring in funds to ED. They also fill many gaps (such as the lack of fast movers for the moment) which DCS level modules are unable to fill in time, because DCS modules take much more time to develop. That's what came to my mind. And by the way, FC3 level aircrafts are nothing like COD.
  18. You might as well get them now. The prices in future sales are hardly likely to be lower than they are in this sales.
  19. Nice... Price?
  20. Do you wish to have EDGE/DX11 support within this year (hopefully)? Or do you wish to have DX12-supported engin in another 5 years, while living with the current DX9 engine? P.S.: I feel excited every Thursday night, expecting the EDGE announcement the next day, and get disppointed the next morning. I hope at most I will be disappointed another 11 times?
  21. You are right not to be sure about it, because nobody is except a few chosen ones. This uncertainty is part of the fun... ;)
  22. Yes and no... Yes, it is a matter of individual preference, but no, it is not only about how much money one can/is willing to spend. For me, a simple seat and a table combined in a convenient form? Sure, it's good to have. But it won't be missed terribly because its alternatives are easily within reach. G-simulation however is another story. It is novel to me, and I am willing to spend on it, much more than I would be willing to spend on a playseat. Considering that a G-seat and the simple playseat suggested in this thread are alternatives to each other, i.e., they cannot be used together, I wouldn't even consider a simple playseat, in the hope of getting a G-seat in the near future. Now if only there is a playseat that comes with G-simulation...
  23. I get your point, and I agree with most of them. My point being that the price is too high for these mere incremental merits of the playseat system... And mind you, there is at least one member on this forum who has built a G-seat for himself. The cost is below that of the playseat system (disregarding the value of the time spent building it, of course), and imho it is THE other thing (in addition to DCS 2.0 and VR headset :D) that is missing which will render our DCS experience as close to reality as possible.
  24. Without simulating the G-force, what's the point of these seats at this price... My desk and chair suit me alright.
