Good thread, I thought there was something off but couldn't put my finger on it. ^

The volume goes to tape just fine, you can hear the signatures and lock tones have proper sound levels and tone in the video at the . That also indicates the volume knob is set to above medium. I think the volume knob controls all the Aim-9 tones including the high & low growls and lock tone if I'm not mistaken.

DCS used by Real World F-18 pilot Carrier Ops Instructional vid

According to & video, the tone being quiet in game is realistic. You can see, or rather hear, that the tone is quiet when there is little to no heat signature, and as some signature is detected it starts growling and a solid tone is heard when you lock the seeker to the target, this is how it's modelled in the game as well.

Thanks 476th, keep up the good work!

I thought that was fixed in the last patch. As for a pitch up moment on flaps full, real former Hornet pilots like IvanK & neofightr (A.E. W in a video) have said that it's true to life behaviour:
-
It's probably still work in progress.

I believe you can toggle this off by unchecking the 'Hear like in Helmet' option in (I think) audio options. Also keep in mind that that's closer to real life than other jets in DCS that you can hear the RPM change 'clearly'. Put in mind that you're simulating a pilot that has earplugs in his ears, plus a helmet designed to cancel noise, plus a canopy and frame that are designed to withstand the forces that come with a supersonic all-weather multipurpose fighter jet. Yeah that muffles a lot of noise. There's a post by a RL F-15C pilot (which I didn't save so I can't reference, unfortunately) saying that they can't really hear the transition to AB in the air, but they know they're in there either by feeling the 'kick' from it or by glancing at the nozzles or fuel flow indications. PS: I'm not a pilot, that's just what I learned from reading available fighter pilots' postings online among other things.

Thanks, that explains a lot. Thank you for doing your best, I appreciate A LOT your attention to details in your modules. I guess that means the human eye can adapt to a flat screen then.. Not even kidding, if you get it out of your mind that the HUD is too dark (which may or may not be true) you can get used to it and actually don't bother with it at all. For example: I didn't really notice or pay attention to the darkness (not the tint/hue) in the HUD for the first almost a week, until I saw the threads here mentioning it.
-
The violet-y tint seems to agree pretty much with the videos/images, but I think IMO the the light going through the HUD is reduced a little too much that it is in reality, it's not that obvious until you do a mission with various scenery in front of the HUD to take note of it.

Thanks for your input IvanK. I thought as well that it didn't 'seem' realistic, even though I'm not a pilot, that the plane chases the set AoA in such a way, that just made no sense to me that the real jet would do that as well. I completely trust the team are working hard on this and will eventually get it right.
-
What isn't exactly? 1. You can't be sure of that, because you can't see if that's due to FCS, outside forces or the pilot actually commanding the move with the stick. But according to nefighter/AEW, there should be a little pitch up when flaps down, but no mention of other forces after the initial flaps deployment. 2. Not denying that. 3. Not denying that.
-
Regardless of the method the Hornet is supposed to be landed, I think, but not 100% sure, that the real Hornet with gears & flaps down doesn't chase the trimmed AoA that violently (if at all) where with a given trim setting when you power up the plane will pitch up, and when you power down the jet pitches down, but in contrast: when it powers up/down the FCS tries to keep the pitch constant with the velocity vector changing up/down depending on power increase/decrease. That would make a lot of sense since the pilot wouldn't be fighting the FCS all the time where he fights a pitch up when power is increased and fights a pitch down when power is decreased which I guess leads to PIO. If a real Hornet pilot sees this I hope they can confirm or refute this.
-
Yes, it is. But I truly hope they don't stop there until they get it just right, because I don't think the FCS is supposed to fight the pilot, it's supposed to make his life easier.

What's the difference between undesignate and the TDC pushbutton, for radar controls? Also I'm not sure how to reproduce this yet, but sometimes when going to NAV mode from AA mode the radar stays in ACM and no matter if I press undesignate or TDC push, it still won't go out and will lock contacts in its view.
-
It's visible when your VV is HUD limited as well (out of frame), that's when the pitch ladder gets referenced to the 'waterline' (W) instead of the VV. It's in the NATOPS, definition of the velocity vector part.

If you do any decent lifting it shouldn't be. ;)

What realism corners? neofighter/A.E. W., a former Navy Hornet pilot, said on one of his youtube videos that the finger lifts were only for going from idle to off.

Mk-151 Rocket pods not loading the correct weight
SCU replied to ScopeDope's topic in Bugs and Problems
If that's the case, I think this should be high ED's priority to look into since it might be the/a cause for many of the troubles that people face in landing & takeoff regimes. -
Will be in the Hornet later today, will this not require us to press a button in order to go AB with weight on wheels?
-
As always, thanks for the updates. All the best for the team and their well-being and peace of mind is much more important than what I wish for a game, their work is very appreciated!
-
They've branded this as [REPORTED] in all caps, these people have thousands of things in their to-do list(s), it will be there in a future update, it doesn't have to be the nearest one. You have to be patient.
-
I know, I'm not saying you did.. I'm talking about other people.
-
Sandman I'm not hating, I want IFF as much as the next person. But going on the forum almost demanding it from ED isn't the way to go. Maybe it's in in today's update, who knows, but I think the team's priorities right now is fixing current systems before implementing new ones. That's all.
