The DCS AI is the DCS AI, unfortunately things like this inevitably happen, although rarely. Invulnerability is your best bet. Make sure you follow the procedures and instructions on screen when refueling, normally your wingman shouldn't be anywhere near you when it's your turn to plug. Was it your turn? Check out this video:

i’m 100% with you. Only if you ever made a skin can you really appreciate the effect of not having a model viewer. Making a skin is like completing a 1000 piece puzzle. Without the MV it’s like a 1000 piece puzzle with all pieces painted black. Is it possible to complete it? Sure. Am I going to do it? No way. look at this skin. Those camo lines are split by the UV map in over a hunderd places and alignment is done by trial and error, resaving the skin and refreshing the editor. Even seeing the immediate effect it’s beyond tedious. and we can’t call using the game itself the ‘old school way’ either. Old school skins were made of a single texture file that kept most parts together. Times have changed, we have 4-5 files with every panel scattered all over creation. I understand the need to protect 3d models but I definitely value my free time more than creating skins under such conditions. It’s a real pity.

One version uses speculars the other roughmets. One will always look strange. ah you mean 2 versions of each skin? Gotcha!

This needs to be sorted ASAP please. I spent 3 weeks making 5 realistic skins for my upcoming Red Flag 81-2 campaign. After the remaster I found that they don't work with the new version. Now we got the template, so I could potentially spend another month redoing them from scratch, except we can't see it in the model viewer, we can't check existing remastered skins because it's all encrypted. So it's basically impossible. Even if ED 'declassifies' the 3D model and I redo these skins from scratch, they won't work for those who didn't pay for the remaster. If I don't update, they won't work for those who upgraded. Lose-lose situation. Alternatively I could rework all my missions to use the F-5E FC version, so everybody would see the skins (it still uses the old version), but who knows if and when that will be updated model-wise. I never understood all the negativity around the F-5E upgrade, for 10 bucks it's a steal and I'm so happy that module got some attention. However, from a content creator point of view I can't imagine a worse, more destructive way of implementing it. Makes me think twice before hoping for other modules to get the 'remastered' treatment.

Maybe Scooter's JDAM took out the radar too -
DCS crash after reloading the next task
Reflected replied to Callinator's topic in F-14 Speed & Angels Campaign
Hi. Can you please post your crashlog here? https://forum.dcs.world/forum/482-game-crash/ When DCS crashes it's either because there is a bug in the core of the game or your install is corrupted - in which case a slow repair should have helped. I really can't de anything in the mission editor to cause or prevent them from happening. I'm simply telling DCS to load mission XYZ. If it can't, there's no other way for me to ask. So it's best if ED is made aware so they can sort out their code. Thanks! -
If I had, would I be posting here? @Gunfreak I really hope that's not the case. Just because Il-2 is/was a competition for DCS WW2 it doesn't mean it could ever replace DCS for me. I'm sure the same will be true for CP. I just love the study level environment of DCS so much that I want to experience the PTO here. I don't care if another title has more content. Once you get hooked onto the complexity and realism of DCS it's very hard to take a few steps back. So I truly hope it's going to happen, I have big plans for the PTO campaign-wise.

Quick review - great campaign
Reflected replied to Waffle 1-1's topic in Spitfire LF Mk.IX Beware! Beware! Campaign
Thank you and congratulations on completing it! Funny you mention the mission design and the boredom vs action. The best part of historical campaigns like this is that I had nothing to do with this sort of 'dramaturgy'. I merely followed the combat reports and squadron records. Sometimes real life is stranger than fiction -
I think it happened to me once during all of the testing. It's weird because I cannot make an AI shoot down a friendly in the mission editor, and consequently I cannot prevent the AI either. It's something that should be brought to ED's attention with a track. Then again, it's not entirely unheard of in the real world either.

Any update on the remastered template please?

That's my guess too. I can't believe a few islands with a few buildings takes longer than giving us Afghanistan and Iraq. Maybe they're really just waiting for everything to be ready, map, modules, assets. Pure speculation, but maybe the Corsair is waiting to be part of this package too? Anyhow if this is the case I quite disagree, I'd prefer to have the modules as they are ready. We can practice flying the Hellcat on different maps to be ready for the WW2 Marianas when it comes. Or, I'd be happy to explore the WW2 Marianas in a P-47 waiting for the Hellcat to come. I remember the times when all I could do in a P-51 was shooting Doras over Novorossiysk, and DCS still became my favorite WW2 sim then and there.

Hey Jet, sorry I've just seen this. I just double checked the headings, and they're correct, they're the magnetic heading to the R/V point. There are many other variables though: crosswind factor, or maybe your directional gyro was off a bit to begin with? I always check it against the info bar after startup. As for the external tanks, you need the engine running above a certain RPM to drive the pump that feeds fuel from them. Idling at 1000 RPM is not enough. Anyhow, thank you for the kind words, I'm really glad you enjoyed the experience, and thank you for sharing your impressions. There are several great memoirs written by USAAF pilots, my favorites are Thunderbolt by Robert Johnson, Tumult in the Clouds by Jim Goodson and Ace in a Day by Wayne Blickenstaff. Good luck with your next campaigns, they may not offer as 'balanced' an experience as BNBOB does, because most of them are historical campaigns, while BNBOB is historical fiction. But hopefully you're going to like them even more because of it.

Wait...are you waiting for the crew chief to give you startup cleareance? Just flip every switch into the position mentioned by the message on screen. If the message doesn't disappear it's because you missed one of them.

It would also be nice to know the area covered.

Short review - excellent campaign
Reflected replied to Waffle 1-1's topic in P-47D Wolfpack Campaign
Thanks so much for the review, I hope you don't mind if I share it? You'll be happy to hear that in the next patch Wolfpack is getting a big update - lots of minor changes that make the whole thing more immersive -
Thanks! Should I not use OTT then? The headset has plenty of battery power left. Why did you set PD in both your Oculus app and debug tool? And different ones at that?
-
Can we please get an official word on this after nearly a year now?
-
I give up. I'm buying a new headset. Meta can go f themselves. This is totally unplayable like this.
-
Have you watched the video? The \ only works on the ground where you can speak to others without a radio. In the air you need to press the radio transmit button in your aircraft. It's not an ED nor an Ugra problem

I haven't heard of anything like that. Would be nice though.
-
There is no call from the leader. There is a briefed checkin time, you need to be ready by then that’s all.

OK it's driving me crazy. Apparently when the game freezes for a bit because of the GPU usage, sometimes the link connection gets degraded, and that's when it starts to happen. I could decrease the frequency of it happening by dumbing down my graphic settings, but still. DCS is silky smooth in VR already, but if a stutter/spike happens, it becomes a 240p youtube video. Meta is completely unable and unwilling to help. I'll never purchase a product from them ever again. their customer service is a disaster. I guess the VRAM leaks in DCS don't help either...
