When Jester shifts the radar from "center" to "high middle", there's a large gap in vertical volume between the 2 scan zones. At ~6k ft, 50 mile range, the elevation max and min when "centered" was 27 / 0. When instructed to move the radar to "high middle", the max and min jumped to 93 / 47. That leaves a massive volume un-scanned... this is making it very difficult to instruct jester to point the radar cone at D/L bandits that are barely above or below the "center" scan zone... leaving the only option to retreat and get more distance, then STT lock them, completely negating the benefit of TWS among other things.. This is RIO 101 stuff here... bandit at 50 miles on D/L, hot, hey Jester, how about you point the radar cone at him... pls and thanks or just let me slew it myself :P

And the all seeing eye of DCS AI is better how? Like it or not, the trade off for using jester does not add realism. Having a human have to manipulate the radar, regardless whether it's pilot or RIO is more realistic in any situation than an AI

LOL... Now that's funny and true

good FPS (performance) improve after update ?

Tcs not dropping frame rate nearly as much for me -
at least 90% of the time my INS is toast after the first hit... assuming I'm still flying... that means no more AIM-54's. And after that, I usually lose at least one engine, and about 50% of the time hydraulics go out within 20 seconds, and it's punch out from there... posting a couple examples of F-14's surviving hits from 120's or r-60's isn't really significant. As someone that's spent well over 1,000 hours in our 14, she does not like to be shot... and almost every time suffers battle ending damage or significantly reduces her performance / capability to the point that RTB is in order. I can count on one hand the times I've been shot and stayed effective in a fight.

So tedious... feels like watching my mom surf the internet... @QuiGon, I agree with you 99% of the time on here, and I'm all for realism, but Jester is not even close to realistic, and quite honestly, the net effect on MP servers of solo pilots having HOTAS control of the radar and pod up front is probably more realistic than Jester doing it. AI in DCS is either super stupid or has GOD vision... That said, I think it'll be interesting how HB continues to develop Jester over time... but like with all things DCS, i'll be skeptical until I see it in action.

100% agree... wish I could slew the damned radar myself.

Telling jester to move the pod with a button on my HOTAS is different from moving the pod with my HOTAS how exactly?
-
Lots of tie fighter lookin 18's flying around on MP servers since last update.

this is also not true. It can be mounted on the cheek stations and wing pylons. Wags even said this capability is coming. Jeez there's a lot of mis-information about this.

I was quite surprised by the volume of changes in the last patch and the lack of game crushing bugs... I'm all for waiting if it means they don't break 1/2 of everything.

MP? You might learn a lot faster with help / feedback from another perspective, and the only thing more fun than smashing into the back of the deck 20 times is doing it with friends :)

If it weren't for all the outcry and criticism, think of where development would be. EA is dangerous for consumers. Instead of paying for a product, you're paying for a promise, and if the developer slacks, what can you do, aside from complain on forums? The outcry is a good thing, when it's not toxic bickering. It's not the forums' fault RAZBAM finds itself in the company of DayZ, Starbound, and other devs that made a pile of cash from an EA on promises and took way too long to deliver. At least Star Citizen lets you get a refund... Sadist may be right... maybe they don't deserve the criticism right now. Maybe they got their act together, but I'll believe it when I see it. I've been burned by EA's for so many years hearing so many promises from software developers that there's just no more credit for works in progress. Once the trust is questioned, it is very hard to get it back.

Chemicals... it's made out of chemicals.

Wags or someone else edited his post. This is the current text and was NOT the original text: "This is an introduction video regarding use of the AGM-154C JSOW for DCS: F/A-18C Hornet. The AGM-154C is planned to be included in the a later Open Beta release." notice the typo? It's really simple. You said at 8:30 AM that we'd get the JSOW in the NEXT OB patch, then at noon said we wouldn't. It's really not that big of a deal. Software development is a crazy beast, but releasing a statement publicly that's incorrect is what it is... and trying to hide it is silly...

It's not really standard to tell users they're getting functionality in the next patch then 4 hours later retract it... what's standard is to have your teams on the same page about what's in a product release. #SCRUM

Is the Tomcat finally getting an update tomorrow?
Banzaiib replied to key_stroked's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
FYI, the F-14 is not unique in making more thrust near mach 1 than at sub sonic speeds. The F-18, 16, and 15 all benefit from this same phenomenon. -
I would imagine he read about setting up the overhead break properly so getting into the groove is not so hard... or he figured out ICLS :)
