  1. googled it... just got a bunch of game screenshots...
  2. How low?
  3. I merged with a Mig-29 last night, had 2 HARMs, 4xMK-82 and a bag... still could turn fast enough to get off a 9x before he could get me... that 9x is a game changer. Without them, I'd have had to emergency dump.
  4. Chaff is really only effective if you notch. Volume of chaff makes no difference, as you demonstrated. Chaff is not a magic, make the missile miss, button. It really only works if you turn and fly 90 degrees tangent to the face of the Radar (missile or plane firing depending on the missile), and drop 2 or 3 chaff as you approach the 90. The R-77 will lose you and go for the chaff if you're flying 90 degrees to the missile, then you can re-engage. Tangent to the face of the missile or radar emitter means any direction, by the way... could be turn right 90 degrees, could be aim for the deck... any orientation that puts your velocity vector a 90 degree tangent to the plane of the radar face. Typically, at least a shallow dive helps in notching, because then you also have background (ground clutter) working in your favor too.
  5. Multiplayer is not popular, either... single player makes up like 90% of the player base... so there's that. I really don't get the problem with having the option to disable Jester.
  6. You'd think Wags would want to be around for a launch as exciting as the F-14 (he said he's out this week), plus HB basically guaranteed that there would be no F-14 in February. So I wouldn't get your hopes up. It may look nice in Jabbers' vids, but that's the point of them to get you hyped! There are still a LOT of bugs for HB to iron out in the 14. I don't think F-14 will coincide with with typical patch schedule, either, but that's purely my conjecture.
  7. I'm gonna be honest... i don't have time to keep track of forum activity, and quite frankly, the search function is awful. Thanks tho.
  8. Can the AIM-9 seeker head be slaved to a radar locked target? Or is it limited to the boresight / small search area modes?
  9. I get your sentiment, but staring at a clock for 10 minutes is not my idea of fun. It's not all about "air quake". Some of us want to enjoy different parts of the simulation more than others. Following your logic, they should get rid of air-starts too...
  10. I find it ironic that you say that, then go on to make a bunch of claims / statements about SAM avoidance, having never done it yourself. It's definitely possible to notch / spoof an SA-15... there are plenty of youtube vids of it happening. Bottom line, IRL, if you believe you're in danger of dying, you're going to mash the admiral's doorbell (as mentioned earlier)... IRL you're not just going to dump tanks while cruising like many of us do in DCS once they're empty. FWIW, i have no problem dodging SA-15's in DCS inside 8 miles with 4 mavs and centerline tank on... no real reason to dump it unless i get caught with my pants down... and if that's the case, i'm probably just gonna die...
  11. this /thread
  12. FWIW, it was almost a year from pre-purchase date until we could launch an A-G missile in the F-18.... that's pretty slow. They lost a big chunk of time when a lead developer passed away, and much of the hornet development has been systems that will be used by multiple aircraft. I expect the F-16 EA period to see much more rapid updates because the back-bone was created during the f-18 development. But this is an F-14 thread... I'm super hyped, and think being a RIO may actually be more fun than pilot. :joystick:
  13. I'm sad about the AIM-7.
  14. I can see why someone would want AIM-7's on an f-16 to coincide with an 80's weapons rules scenario... even if not 100% realistic.
  15. 100% this! He could also ask my how my day is going... I'm a person, after all.
  16. this... also, just turn the warning volume down when practicing carrier traps... it'll save your sanity.
  17. If you watch Wags' video, his high drag pass misses by like 50 ft. He calls "Direct hit," but it's nowhere close... so I'd say this is still a WIP at best.
  18. It means that if you turn your plane to heading 085, you'll be heading directly at the bandit, who is 110 miles away. It doesn't mean the bandit is heading toward you, however.
  19. Just don't be late for your date... and shower before you go, for god's sake!
  20. typically every 2 weeks, and there was an update last week....
  21. GBU's needed mfuze to "OFF" as of the last patch... FYI
  22. We regret to inform you that your thread is dead.... because it was stupid (joking... sort of...) :) I'm hyped too.
  23. Not unless you target it with some sort of ranging device or weapons.
  24. If he's less than 15 miles behind you and trying to kill you, re-engaging is going to be very difficult if he's fully loaded with death sticks. It's possible you could turn back and fire an emergency mad dog amraam at him then immediately disengage, hoping he's target fixated (this works on the 104 pretty well), but you're going to need at least 10 miles separation distance for that, because as soon as your Vc drops (indicating you're turning), he's going to fire... i would, anyway. Your mileage may vary...
