  1. Noob question here... if i set "ssb.enabledFlagValue = 2", does that mean a flag value of 0 or 1 will enable a slot? I'd like to lock a slot based on an increase in flag values if they cross a certain threshold... without making a send trigger if possible.

    F-15E?

I could not agree more. Also, herein lies the inherent problem with paying for something before it's complete. I'm not saying I'm not grateful for having access to modules before they're 100% complete, but I'm also saying that human nature is to focus on the next big carrot, instead of the one you've already eaten.
  3. not to hijack this thread, but what does that do?
  4. From what I can find, the SD-10's range, which I'm assuming is max performance at altitude against headon bandits, is around 60 miles, and the AIM-120C is around 55 miles... which is fairly "close"when comparing them against eachother... (we all know that no AIM-120C is going 55 miles in DCS) Let's just say for the sake of argument, that according to the unclassified info i have, the SD-10 has about 10% more range than a 120C fired in exactly the same parameters (altiuted, aspect, etc)... if you have other information, i'd love to see it... my point is that in DCS, the SD-10 is WAAAAAY more than 10% longer range than the 120C (all things being equal). That's what i mean by "not even close". NOw, i could be completely wrong about the comparison of the 2, but 1.16 does make it difficult to discuss this...
  5. sylkhan... i think what some people are trying to convey to you is that IronMike has incredibly detailed information from numerous subject matter experts that directly contradict you. He has offered evidence, logic, and multiple reasons why the AIM-54 was an excellent choice for killing fighters, yet you still keep saying it was really only for bombers. That may be the "common sense" or common perception, but that doesn't make it right.
  6. If the bandit notches, then there's a really good chance it'll go for the chaff... that's still a win, though, because now he's defensive and you can press without getting shot at...
  7. ED missiles (120, R-27, R77, AIM-7) all feel like they're flying through peanut butter... there have been so many posts on this and the main issue is the drag coefficients... they just don't fly like the unclassified data and charts suggest they should. Not even close... and this is especially noticeable when they pull g's during the final phase of guidance... they bleed so much energy it's insane. That's why the AIM-7 misses so much, it just runs out of energy right when it needs it (the same is true of the F-18, btw, it bleeds way too much energy in turns) I truly hope the HB team can have some influence over the flight dynamics and guidance of AIM-7s... because it's generally useless in combat right now. Less than 10% of mine connect when fired at 10 miles headon with bandits... It's not even worth carrying them. Just look at the flight profile of a DCS JF-17 CHAMRAAM vs a 120C... it's appauling... and they're supposed to be pretty close in performance.
  8. Not the one we are flying... the ailerons aren't linked to the roll inputs... or maybe it's digital but it's not the same FCS the D had... there were so many block changes and upgrades that didn't correlate to version letters, it's really hard to keep track.
  9. yep, the 14D has a completely different flight control system than the A and B and most of the documentation on it is classified. <looks at Iran> I wouldn't expect them to ever do the 14D.
  10. I think you're assuming a lot there... I'd rather be pleasantly surprised than disappointed... so I'll continue expecting DCS Vulkan after Star Citizen is finished. <shots fired>
  11. As a mission maker for a very large community of DCS pilots, this is very disappointing, and instead of encouraging us to buy it, this actually discourages it. We're not going to fracture our community over a boat. Why not just reduce the MP spawn slots available, mesh and texture quality and remove visibility for the deck crew for non-owners or something... this feels quite draconian and very single-player-minded-cash-grabby... there are other solutions that would not divide the user base and would still encourage people to buy it...
  12. In an effort to set the ED record for necro-posting... (more than 7 years :) ) How long does the [sMOKE MARKER] trigger action remain before it disappears?
  13. Yeah, this isn't the first time they've mentioned Vulkan... just like they started hyping the F-18 nearly 3 years before the EA started... then it was 8 months before you could fire a Maverick. I'm not complaining, just letting you know some previous time-lines. This stuff takes a while to develop. I'm also very excited about it... but not holding my breath.
  14. Delays are never pleasant, but I do like that the new missile API not working in multiplayer implies that they are fixing or at least working on systems that may fix the horrible desync in multiplayer. Thanks for all the hard work HB. I love the 14B, can't wait to kill myself in the 14A!
  15. I'd rather have the system modeled properly and released with no instructions, than the system modeled improperly with instructions... Back in the day, none of us used ED / Wags's videos to learn the F-15 radar... we turned to the old flanker vids... :)
  16. if the boat's moving into the wind, then you have a 9 degree crosswind... so the flight path marker is going to be off to the right side of the landing area when you're on approach (if you're lined up correctly)
  17. I am astounded both at the accuracy with which you can fly the Tomcat, OP, and the incredible rudeness of Mr. Big. I know we've all moved on, but reading through this thread was difficult without vomiting. Some people were not beaten enough as children... or maybe too much? That aside, I hope they get this fixed. I, too have 100's (not 1000's) of traps in the Tomcat, and plan on many more with a real LSO. Echoing r7y30n, thank you for this explanation!
  18. I 100% understand what you're saying. When guided by a PD lock, yes, the AIM-7 (or any missile) will have its own notch filter, and can be notched independently of the AWG-9 or illuminating radar. But, when guided by a pulse lock, wouldn't it stand to reason that it (the AIM-7) also disables its notch filter? Or at least alters its tracking / guidance model and performance? I guess what I'm saying is, the missile guidance performance does not change with the type of lock in the F-14, and I believe it should.
  19. yes, and that debate aside, lets assume that the -7M can be guided by a CW (PSTT) lock. It would follow that if the AWG-9 STT lock is more resistant to the notch in PSTT, then the AIM-7 should also be much more resistant to the notch if the bandit is above the F-14. Or am I missing something? "Should" being the operative word here. I am aware that once an AIM-7 leaves the F-14, ED's guidance code takes over, and it does not care what radar is illuminating it... it treats them all the same.
  20. so this means guidance by PSTT locks is not possible (or not actually simulated)? maybe under then new guidance SDK / API?
  21. If pulse STT locks are such an iron grip... and I have certainly seen that if I'm below a bandit, he simply cannot notch me, which is awesome... but, then why do AIM-7's still get notched so easily when guided by PSTT locks?
  22. Flip the MLC to off... they'll show up then. You'll get some strange returns on the TID, because you're essentially turning off the notch / ground clutter filter... but the choppers will show up. Anything that moves slower than 100 kts in relation to the ground will get filtered out by the AWG-9's MLC filter... turning it off will help... but you'll also pay a penalty.
  23. Are you guys talking about two different things? It's entirely possible that the ECU adjusts based on lots of different factors, including combinations of AOA, altitutde, airspeed, etc.
  24. there's a reason the go full mil power on every CASE I... even a "proper" one...
