I'm going to go out on a limb here, and possibly look a bit silly, but, in step 6, you have the AC l/r generators turned on incorrectly ...these do not generate power until the L and R engines are running (at least a far as I understand) The "APU gen" switch powers the AC bus when the APU is running The "AC gen" switches power the AC bus when the corresponding engine is at full RPM I believe your procedure should be: -... -... - start APU, wait for full rpm - APU Gen switch to on (AC power is generated) -.. -.. - Left Engine Start, wait for idle rpm - AC Gen left to on (left engine now generates AC power...APU Gen Caution sounds) - Press Master caution to silence APU Gen caution - Right Engine Start, wait for idle rpm - AC Gen right to on (Right engine now generates AC power) - APU Gen switch to Off .. ..

Important Change in A-10C Startup--Please read!
nemises replied to WarriorX's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
<pure guess> because the EGI was an upgrade/addition to the A10a avionics suite, whereas HARS has always been the default prior to the C. Less changes to default settings = less re-training for pilots -
elevation / slant angle issue?...are marks calculated using an absolute position, or a relative ray cast ?
-
hmmm, strange...I know that a lot of changes did get made to the sound code, but I believe it was to IMPROVE positional audio, not the opposite. I believe there are new audio options to support all kinds of speaker configurations, and that the positional audio / occlusion stuff has been tweaked...I don't know how that might interact with your own environment though sorry.

Total Velocity Vector (TVV) missing after patch 1.1.0.8
nemises replied to maxmax's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
dont worry, it took me a few days to realise what was going wrong when it was first introduced into the test build....and I was too embarrassed to ask the other testers ;) -

(you might have to revise the sequence a little after the 1108 patch, some changes to the APU and engine AC generators)

"Hook" means to select an Object on the TAD. However, in order to "hook" an object, there must be one there in teh first place! Valid objects to hook are: - Aircraft symbols - Steerpoint symbols - transmitted SPI symbols (mini wedding cakes) -Bullseye symbols - and , most importantly for you, MARK symbols Try this, -Set the TAD as SOI, and slew the cursor to where you are interested. - set the TAD display to "Mark" display mode (func+8 I think on the UFC...it'll say "mark" on the correct UFC button anyway) - press TMS-Right_Short , and it will drop a "MARK" symbol on the TAD...this can now be selected as a steerpoint, or made a SPI, to which you can slew your Mav , TGP and HUD designator to. Good luck!

Hi Ghillied, First off, have a look in Options / Credits, this will tell you the current version. I believe the "Full" version (ie. post Beta) is 1105 Since then, patch 1106 and 1107 have been released, and patch 1108 is only a few days away from being released (hopefully!). If you have the beta version still (ie a version that is lower than 1105) , then my advise is to download the full 1107 (or if you can wait a few days, the full 1108) release from: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com Log into the main page and click on "downloads" and "Software" to see all the available downloads. You can download the patches seperately, but it will be much easier to get the whole 1107 (or 1108) release instead, with the patches integrated already.

I was close, there was key presses involved!

yes it is possible!..I just cant remember the key combo sorry!...check in the "view" commands though..I think it's something like ctrl-k or ctrl-alt-pause or some such!

Yeah fair enough, and if ED were to find a way to allow for it, I'd gladly pay 99c, I just worry (and it's just my worry, I've not heard or seen nor do I know anything of ED's policies or legal requirements)..I just worry that "selling" something which uses copyrited material might cross a barrier from a business legal perspective, where, even if they wanted to allow it they couldn't...unless they would enter into some sort of business arrangement. ... whereas, if it is free, it's possibly covered under the fair usage (?) or some such other implied legal category .. but yeah, fingers crossed that something can be worked out with minimum fuss for all concerned :) .. I'd love to use the app

FPS doubles after a fresh computer restart. why?
nemises replied to Kevlon's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
the windows OS is a bloated heap of *#£$ , and over time, invariably performance will degrade as process after process after process fails to either flush memory correctly, or fragments memory and page space so badly it becomes a question of IO throughput to the disk sub-system, rather than the main memory bus. ..long story short, get more memory (which will disguise the issue only for a bit longer), FREQUENTLY de-frag your disks.... have a dedicated and Fast disk for Paging, frequently reboot your machine, turn off any exterior real time activity while playing ze gamez (ie. realtime virus scanners, FTP / torrent downloading / seeding), change to a non windows OS (not really an option for us gamers :( ) or switch to a 64bit windows....consider restarting the Sim between each mission. -
Hi Sickdog, I'll post it on the testers forum to bring to attention of the producers... ..is the app going to be pay or add supported? (looks awesome by the way)
-
..hmm...seems like it could also be a hardware failure at your end..(or some sort of software / driver hiccup) The easiest way to see is in the post mission briefing, it will tell you if you suffered damage / failure or not. Hopefully it doesnt happen again. I used to get random disconnections of my HOTAS (including the axis...would get the USB bing-bong), but a firmware / driver update resolved

Hi Hamodi, The spash screen always says 1.0.1 regardless of what patch you have ... to see the version of the game you actually have, please either check the readme files in the game dir, or : - from menu open "mission editor" - from top menu select "about" - from menu select "credits" This will give you the patched version you have. I expect the problem you had was trying to patch a Beta release , rather than the full release. If you can wait for a few days (or a week) , then the FULL version with patch 1.1.0.8 integrated will be available to download, or , alternatively, download the full 1.1.0.7 release as linked above, and then download the 1.1.0.8 patch once it becomes available this week (hopefully) Either way, you cant avoid downloading the full version if all you have is one of the old Beta versions :) Good luck, and enjoy

fa-18 Interceptor on Amiga

look forward to seeing it!

Hiya AK, welcome eh ;) 1) Yes... there are some small file structure differences (it is a slightly different build), but functionally they are completely identical.... As a side note, the starforce that ED use now is NOTHING like the starforce of yesteryear ... there is no driver's or media checks, it is simply an avenue to enable content once a valid registration is achieved, a once only affair (unless you uninstal / change OS's) .. there's more info in the FAQ. 2) yes 3a) Probably not 3b) yes (flaming cliffs 2, multiplayer compatible) ... unknown if A10 compatibility patch will change that though Good luck on your paper!..sounds........involved!

..also, with regards to using the lights , they are controlled by the pinkie(?) switch on the hotas. The keyboard commands are ctrl-p = use as per panel settings shift-p = off alt-p = default setting This is from memory, someone will need to fact check that :) ...its in the manual somewhere! :)
