1. As well as what Warrior has said, you could be seeing a Gimbal Lock (the words "Gimbal" will appear on the TGP's page.. Gimbal lock occurs when two or more of the rotational axis align....Boresiting the TGP or counter rolling should free it up. See here for a better explanation of gimbal lock: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gimbal_lock
2. Good video Nom, appreciate the time you took to make it ...will try to remember to book mark as a good reference for new pilots to understand a fundamental of the system.
3. ...." Tower, this is Ghost Rider requesting a flyby" "That's a negative, Ghost Rider, the pattern is full"
4. isn't there a "visible before active" (or equivalent) check box ?...there certainly used to be.. Then do the usual (set hold time for 23 hours or whatever....trigger to activate)
5. The reason for this is so you can go backwards form the beginning (if you like) ... ie. if you start the campaign, and fail the first mission, you can still drop a Tier. If you started at A-P1-1 , then you could only go "forward" in the campaign, which doesn't allow for failure.
6. I also use x52 + rudders.. I use key presses for Idle detent and CMS only, everything else is mapped ala HOTAS + the addition of speed brake controls (although using the stick toggles on the X52 means taking one hand or the other off which I don't really like)
7. isnt the warthog grip removable ? (I'd heard you can switch in the Cougar grip for eg).. ...if thats the case, couldn't TM just release an F-1/8 grip only option for eg.. ? ....?
8. the campaign is semi dynamic. As you start a "tier" , you will randomly get given one of the missions in the Tier. If you succeed, you will go up a Tier and get given a random mission from that tier..if you fail you will go down a tier, and if you just do 50% you will stay on the tier you are on. If you look at the file structure of the campain missions (%blacksharkdir%\missions\campain\) , you'll see 100 of the following files: ATO-A-xxx.miz ATO-B-xxx.miz ATO-C-xxx.miz the A, B and C refer to the 3 "stages" of the campain (can be played seperately or as 1 large campaign) The campaign file of the "Grand Campaign" specifies the following: campaign = { directory = "C:/Program Files/Black Shark/Missions/Campaigns/", startStage = 3, [3] = { name = "A 3", missions = { [1] = { interval = { [1] = 0, [2] = 50, }, -- end of interval file = "ATO-A-P3.1.miz", ..... Which starts you at the middle mission set (3) on the first tier (a) .. It then randomly (technically dependant on your previous mission success/failure) chooses a sub-mission and starts you there. This is a non-linear way of making sure that each time you play the champaign it is different, yet still valid and sequential (in terms of phases of the battle), allthough your role within in it is defined by your performance. Anyway, Thats a long explanation for a simple answer....because the campaign is non-linear , there is no proper "first mission"...only a mission in the first tier
9. hmmm.. Is it then possible to set a low yield "explosion" trigger action to a moving trigger zone centred on the unit in question ? ... that would damage the unit (but not in a specific way I supposed) yeah, some sortof "Set Damage" trigger for non player units...hmm
10. hmm...well, to be honest, you could do the same thing with a normal track and a fixed snap-view ? I dig where your coming from though, but yeah, I'm not sure that'd be a worthwhile addition when it can already be done more-or-less with the existing tool set.
11. Hi FEFX There is at least 10 other threads discussing this :) The QFE readback from the ATC is broken (when it says 3774 , it generally means 2774)..this is being addressed in the next patch (probably!) On the runway, use the altimeter pressure adjustment knob to set your barometric altitude to 0000 (this gives you the QFE setting at the current time for the runway you are on) On inbound the ATC should give you correct QFE, but ,again, it is broken at the moment
12. Same, Pretty old machine by todays standards... If I set everything up High, its a bit of a jerk-fest, but if I tweak down a few items to Medium, it is smooth as butter, and barely distinguishable graphically from setting high. ...It's of course personal choice, but, holding out for optimisations at this stage is a fools game...the game is very optimised already.
13. This is the way I do it also. Step 4 (of first procedure) is necessary, as you will need the Mav to be SOI so you can TMS-U-S to have it attempt an image capture.
14. best indicator is to watch your TAD whilst slewing the TGP as SPI around.. You'll see the wedding cake symbol move around as you slew. Same goes for if you designate the HUD as SPI and slew the HUD target designator It won't, however follow the TAD target designator around if it the TAD is SPI..the TAD can only hook "symbols" and use that as SPI designation.
15. are your Radios powered on ?
16. dang...hmm, I have definitely tested it, but I'm not sure what build sorry. Let me check now in 1107 *edit* agreed, just had a check in 1107 and the intercom ILS switch doesn't stop the ILS signal playing over the intercom. I'll have a quick look in the bug tracking database to confirm its still to be fixed
17. like tying a piece of buttered toast to a cats back , buttered side up... ...perpetual motion machine
18. nice...good investigation there mate
19. there's a dial bottom left of the MFD
20. Correct, this had never been planned to be or in the 1107 patch.. Wags is always quite a few builds ahead, and the testers tend to be 1 and 2 builds ahead or so
21. no volume, as already discussed, just off and on
22. Hi Stang, You could also consider using "Labels" at first. You can turn these on / off by pressing left-shift + f10 This is an intensely complicated Sim, and it simply isn't possible to jump in and start shooting bad guys on full realism as you've discovered. Luckily for us all, there are a few "helpers" (such as labels) that we can use to help us fly and enjoy the game without having to have mastered everything all at once. The pleasure in flying this beast is in slowly mastering each of the individual systems, until one day , you suddenly realise that you really do understand what is going on, and need no helpers. ..
23. Hi Alex, As Quirk has said, you would need to manually modify the campaign missions in the Mission Editor.. It is pretty straight forward to do, you just need to select the Aircraft Icon that represents you (you will see the AI Type of "Player" ) , and change the initial point to "Runway" from "Ramp Start" Just be aware that the timing of the mission could be messed up a little bit as a result. You should also create backups of the mission files before modifying them just in case! It isn't yet possible to do this in the Mission Planner (ala Falcon4)
24. I don't believe it has a (functioning) volume control, but you should be able to click on the Intercom ILS volume knob to disable it...not had a chance to test it myself on 1107 , but it has worked that way in other builds.
25. its no worries mate, this is a complicated system with a LOT of little things, and we're all still learning.
