First of all, THANK YOU to all of the mission builders. Without you the World of DCS would be frankly stagnent. Now. I have VERY little knowledge of programming, but have a tiny request if at all possible. I'm, like many of you deep into the systems and operations of aircraft. However, I really don't like starting my missions from the ramp. Specifically I've been looking at FALCAW's campaign for the desert FA-18. In the ATO Flight plan scraipt there is this bit of code for take off and landing. I spotted this take off section: ************************** --take off and landing if flight[f].route[w].id == "Taxi" or flight[f].route[w].id == "Intercept" then waypoints[w]["type"] = "TakeOffParking" waypoints[w]["action"] = "From Parking Area" waypoints[w]["airdromeId"] = flight[f].airdromeId --if defined in camp, player flight starts with engines running if flight[f].player == true and camp.hotstart then waypoints[w]["action"] = "From Parking Area Hot" waypoints[w]["type"] = "TakeOffParkingHot" end ************************** I saw that camps allow planes to take off hot, and tried swapping intercept to Fighter Sweep (as thats the first mission) and replace the takeoffparking to "hot". It doesn't seem to work ( unsurpisingly as I'm a dipstick)! :music_whistling: Is there a way to tweak a campaign (for personal solo use only) to allow starting for all aircraft hot? I'm sure there are 100s of repurcussions for the mission, but though I would give it a go.

Got the F/A-18 version working, looking great. Sorry to be "the pain that didn't read the whole thread"....but is there a way to set the mission start on the runway? I'm not the kind of guy that goes through cold start all of the time. Thanks. Got it. Edited the mission, then entered campaign. Coolio

Logitech X-56 vs Warthog joystick
MrReynolds replied to MrReynolds's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
Just what I'm after Hallister, keep the comments coming chaps  I've read the USB issue is fixed if connected to USB3. -
TL: DR I really would love to hear from X-56 owners about the hardware quality and Programmability of the software - particularly with regards to shift modifiers ***** I didn't want to start spamming other threads, so have made a new one up here. (please no joystick wars lol). My Warthog Joystick is dead, so I need a replacement. I've got 3 options: £350 to buy a new Warthog set £250 for a new warthog joystick £220 for a Logitch X56 joystick and throttle. I put the first option in as my joystick originally died after the throttle was playing up. IF I were to buy a new joystick and use the OLD throttle I don't know how much life is left in her. It's working now, although it did start disconnecting over the last couple of days. Warthog vs X56. My pros and cons. Warthog: PROs I already have everything in place for a new stick I've already got my programs set up It's TOP quality It has 4 joystick hat switches CONS It's expensive No rudder The feeling of spending money on something I "already have" X-56 PROs It has a rudder (rotaries - NOT fussed about the twist stick) It saves me £100 over buying TM pedals It's "cheap" It comes with a joystick AND throttle It'll be a new toy to learn (if it's powerful enough) CONs DOES the software allow for the pinky to be used as a modifier? Modes: Having the toggle on the base of the throttle as opposed to the 3-way switch is a bad thing for me. Has the "new" x-56 really fixed the original's hardware wiring "faults". ( https://www.logitechg.com/en-gb/product/x56-space-flight-vr-simulator-controller) Losing the 4th hat button on the joystick. The 4th hat on the joystick seems to be only a button. Who on earth decided on that! Plastic / cheaper construction I'll have to buy direct from Logitech - losing out on good old Amazon's amazing returns service Honestly, I'm heading towards the X-56, but I'm weary if it will work as "fluid" as I like. I have the TM set up to macro different A-A/A-G key presses on the 3 way rocker switch. Also, I've read some comments "somewhere" about the pinky modifier not actually allowing shifting. Is this an issue? I really would love to hear from X-56 owners about the hardware quality and Programmability of the software. (mainly using the pinky for shifting I think). MANY many thanks for any thoughts and opinions, Mr.R. :pilotfly: (ps- buying tonight)!!!

Possible dead Warthog? (help please)
MrReynolds replied to MrReynolds's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
Thanks for that help. I too thought about too many USBs - so have taken lots out. Didn't go as far as to try a clean computer. However.....Shall we say the stick has taken a knock and has physically....broken now. Snapped off from the base. If it did get working again it would have to have to really powerful glue holding it on lol.... -
SAITEK X55-Rhino Device Profile for F/A-18C HOTAS
MrReynolds replied to BiBa's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
Thanks Crab, more data to put into the variable pot....................... I'm tempted with the roatries on the throttle - they served me REALLY well as rudders in the good old Cougar days. If I could trust the wire issue being solved I'm tempted with this one over the warthog. -

Many thanks, will have to decide on Tuesday I think..... -
SAITEK X55-Rhino Device Profile for F/A-18C HOTAS
MrReynolds replied to BiBa's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
Hey chaps. My Warthog joystick's just dead and have to get a new stick. I've read about the "wiring" issues with these sticks. Any thoughts? For the same proce as a new Warthog stick I can pick up one of these (joystick and throttle). I would prefer Thrustmaster, but the rotaries on this appeal to me too............. -
Possible dead Warthog? (help please)
MrReynolds replied to MrReynolds's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
Thanks for the bad news ;) I can't really afford a new joystick as I was saving for pedals and maybe a new graphics card.................. - and like you I've had it for years! Just run the firmware update and get a bootloader failure code 0x00000000c So.......... Also - Thrustmaster do recognise a dead formware - although there is no mention of windows 10. Maybe if I find a Windows 7 machine it could flash it???? -
Afternoon all, My Throttle started to "cut-out" during gameplay. Stopping and running TARGET again fixed it, but I decided to check the firmware. I started the update procedure, but it "hung" when preparing, so I stopped the process. Nothing seemed to have started. I'm pretty sure I started up DCS and all was fine. I played something else, and now - to my surprise the joystick is now longer working. I have uninstalled both the drivers and TARGET. Reinstalling only gets the throttle recognised. I have tried manually flashing the firmware upon a restart ( http://ts.thrustmaster.com/faqs/eng/thr_eng_00136.pdf ). When I do this, I hear the du.dududu....of a USB connection, but no driver install popup. Now. Here's the weird thing. Windows sees the joystick in the Human interface devices, but NOT the throttle. However, TARGET only sees the throttle. In the Windows game controller list the throttle is recognised (and works) but not the joystick....... I'm beginning to panic now as I really hope the joystick isn't dead!! Any help or advice will be most greatly appreciated - and just as I was nailing those pesky carrier landings!!!!

Thrustmaster Hotas Warthog mapping not working
MrReynolds replied to operatorone's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
I've been slowly making up my target profile and have had some weird issues. Usually a PULSE for a keypress works (and it does). However, for some functions I've had to program a press, then release command for the key to work in game. It seems like the button is broken. I think the default pulse is 25ms - setting a release after 100ms works. Totally weird as some pulses work, and others....don't. -
Isn't this crying out for a separate "popout" window? That'll be useful. By the way - Fantastic release so far. LOVING the carrier landings.

Thanks for trying. I copied all of the folders across from Chat enhancer to no avail. (Thank goodness for backup folders)! It actually made me lose the message text to the left. Think I'll leave it and use my ear lol! SCRAP THAT - it worked! The ME doesn't - but the radio reply is now legible. Thanks all (although the little bit of autism in me want to know WHERE I edit the font size for this text ;-) )
-
Hi chaps. I've recently upgraded to 4K and I am having "huge" problems reading the 9 line replies from the AFAC due to the tiny font size. I've searched the Web for an answer - and have managed to alter the radio command input font size. *** I however cannot for the life of me manage to edit the replies that go in the top left? *** Any links to the answer would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance :-)

Yep. Game updated ----> queue wife bleating "Is that you making those noises up there?" Thanks guys, working really well. Everything maxed and as good as I guess the DK2 will give me :)
-
Thanks. I've noticed that DCS wasn't "auto"-updated. Updating now so probably that'll make things work. Maybe............
-
Right. Spent a while reinstalling everything and just don't know where I'm going wrong. I have a DK2 - so don't know which set of instructions to use. I have the oculus software running. I can look around the store and everything. DCS is up and running, with auto-detect oculus ticked. Mission loads up and nothing. Just the standard monitor screen. There is a set of instructions mentioning Bilago's runtime manager but the program can't find the oculus runtime and I don't know where to point it to. Is the DK2 being killed off by oculus? Been out of the loop for a while. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks.

Many thanks. It would appear that running my AMD 290 I need to run the game (NOT) full screen. So far I have edited training missions and now I have created a new mission from a training one and it works. WINDOWED mode for me is the answer if ever anyone else gets this. Maybe I should have put full specs in!

Any help very much appreciated with this please. I have just re-installed DCS World with A10 and CA this morning. Totally new computer AND DCS. Clean environment and drivers up to date. Other games run fine. I CAN load a training mission if I Alt-Tab out after it loads. This brings me to cockpit and everything works WELL. HOWEVER, if I make a mission (literally just an A10 ready to land) the game freezes at the yellow "loading" screen. When the training works, the screen flickers and loads up the SIM part of the game. This doesn't happen from missions. I have to end task from task manager and the game asks if I want to quit. I even loaded a training mission from within the editor and it hung. Went back to training and it loaded! The ONLY variable I HAVE changed is that I have moved saved games from my SSD (C: ) to my storage drive (F: ). Although I notice the training missions are stored in the games drive (in my case the gaming SSD d: ). Any ideas? Many thanks. Edit 1: Loaded a training mission from within the editor - DIDN'T edit it and it loaded after alt-tabbing out. Saved it as... to the A10 folder a few levels up and it hung again. Edit 2: Loaded up unguided bombs training, moved a target and saved. This also worked....... Made a NEW missions and saved it in the training folder............WON'T LOAD. Highly interesting as we know there is going to be an UBER simple solution!!!!!

Indeed they don't, but the FA-18 certainly does. Got my eye on that bugger! edit, lol. I was "hinting" that those two features have been missing for far too long..........................................
-
mmmmmmm, I think I'll give it a miss. I get co-ordinates from JTAC in DCS A-10. Would have been nice to combine the two. Looking forward to maybe a better (dynamic) campaign and A-G radar being implemented. If ever.:music_whistling:
-
Okay. I fly the A-10 single player. Absolutely NO interest in the long start up list and a 20 minute flight to the FLOT. I'm also not really interested in Tanking. I generally edit missions to start <20 miles out of the target and use waypoints and the JTAC to spot targets. (oh if only JTAC would automatically target SAMs before a column of trucks :-s {without having to set it in the planner} ) I fly using all complex settings and enjoy the difficulty of target searching etc using coordinates. Now..... If I were to buy Combined arms, a) Will I be able to manipulate the ground forces from my A-10 in map mode? and more importantly b) COULD I be a sneaky JTAC in a jeep, search for a SAM battery and use the coordinates gained for my attack profile in the A-10? Even better, could I aim the laser sight, and then jump into the hog and use THAT as my designator? I "think" I've read that JTAC isn't implemented in single player yet, but if I could hop between JTAC and pilot I think that'll be okay for me.... Thanks for any replies.... :P

Lol. I'm a doofus. The moaning at the start of my "silly" post was a joke aimed at the others that have complained before. I am happy, and all is cool with the world. So sorry for upsetting some of you. I'm not quite the dickhead I seemed. Guess that's what you get when you make a quick comment and post without thinking.
-
Well i am very angry at the delay. It's just not acceptable. This is a joke. The funny thing is I've decided to skip the last patch and concentrate on my steam Christmas bargains until the new one is out. Looking for a nice improvement / 64 bit with track ir etc etc. Sods law is that it's been since before Chrimbo that I last flew lol.............. :music_whistling: i'm determined to last it out though

"Vergeev Group" campaign demo version
MrReynolds replied to FGSchtuzer's topic in User Created Missions General
For my system, to hear the audio I need to pause the sim. My surround sound has the engines too loud (I don't THINK I have this problem in other missions......) :music_whistling: I generally read the text. I did fly the second mission, but there was nothing to blow up. I thought maybe the helicopters or ships were going to be attacked. I then looked at the mission in the editor and saw there was nothing apart from the ring of zu-23s I guess are for another in the future. I love the idea of a chronological "persistent" campaign structure and certainly look forward to more missions. As I have said before, without the holy grail of dynamic campaigns we really are at the beg and mercy of good people as yourselves in making more missions to fly. So thanks again!
