Right. Got a new theory and it's bizarre!!! I have backups on an old HDD. F:\My Documents\my old documents move to new c\Saved Games\DCS This saved games folder has the chess pieces icon like Windows likes. It DOES have modified DCS folders in it fromwhat I've loaded just now. I have a feeling the game is looking for that folder, instead of my c:users folder which has had the DCS folders renamed...... Now I've got Stable running, I'm re-downloading Beta to see if it now works having renamed THESE folders! Unfortunatley I've just used SkateZilla's GUI utilility to change stable to Beta, but since they're the same number at the moment I don't know which is which lol............................. TL : DR - I think the game was NOT looking at the c:/users folder but another one! EDIT: Just renamed the DCS folder in that backup folder and graphics settings etc we reset, so I'm thinking that's it! Only 14 gigs of download left to check beta!

BUT - and I'm sure you're right about the graphics driver, it was from a crash in mission after the game had loaded up, not upon boot up which is the problem here.

Yep. Was up to date. Uninstalled via device manager and reinstalled. Deleted Beta again, and now installed vanilla. Upon installation I get a box for username and password which I didn't for Beta. ......................and it's loaded up............................ What does THAT suggest??? Stable fine, Beta sits there doing nothing! There's got to be a corrupted "something" - "somewhere" in the Beta folders somewhere in my system. Even though I installed it on to a different SSD.

Well Well Well. Mr "I've buggered so many things up in the past I know to keep backups" comes through again. This isn't a crash log for the current issue as it isn't making any. Windows 10 and it should be up to date. It's intriguing me as I want to fix it for fixing sake!!! :D

Thanks BIGNEWY, but there are none at present. 1) I deleted the DCS saved folder in users. 2) I've now put it back, but nothings being written. I guess because there isn't any crashing as there isn't any program... crashing. It's just sitting there. I've tried the recycle bin but there are no logs! The thing is that everything WAS fine. If it was a new install for the first ever time I could understand. Is there a way of forcing a log (ooh-er)! I right click and close the DCS program on the task bar to close it down as it just sits there. I'm going to make a support ticket with a link to this thread. Yesterday I had a couple of crashes for the first time in ages. Then in the evening I was asked to log in to the account on load up, and from then on DCS won't load. I've cleaned the install. Completed 2 repairs. Deleted the save folder. Reinstalled on a totally different SSD Reparied THAT install! Delted the graphics config I've tried running at a different resolution. Left the box open to let it install any shaders that may be needed............... I've deleted my graphics card and re-installed drivers. Still a blank, 1/4 sized box in the centre of the screen with my FPS of 3000+ in the bottom left (Afterburner - NOT overclocked). I don't think I've missed anything unless there are other hidden folders I need to completely deleted in the registry or something. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm now left to play................games!!!! Thanks. ** Extra info: When I open the program it says logging in, the getting authorisation info. Then I get the black screen with nothing excpet my FPS counter in the bottom left. Now. With a totally fresh install, where did it get my log in info from? are there more folders I need to manually delete to completely reinstall?

VERY interesting. Can't try this yet, but does it save the state of mission at the end of each flight? If so, I think this is JUST what I've been looking for. I've been waiting ages for a system to log flights and destruction at the end of missions. I don't see a dynamic campaign coming to fruition until ED get their system in place, but if it's like F-16 Combat pilots where you fly missions and attrition is counted for future flights that would be GREAT!

In 2021 when we get mark points would we be able to ripple through these points of reference? If mark points are used like wayoints we could pickle, change mark and so on. Let's hope hey!

Me three. There's too many other games to play at present for me to bug test JDAMs and learning procedures that may or may not be changed. I keep thinking I'll wait for the dynamic campaign and be done with it.........

I must say I've had trouble with JDAMS like this. Same procedure all times, sometimes 100%, others dropping well short. It's as if the GPS coordinates were deliberately set there (but they wern't). These are on non-moving targets. I've also accounted for slew angle - with maybe 10 meters off for the long range / lowish altitude (the hits were WAY more than any weird targetting issue).

Now that the Viper is out I look forward to the accelerated development of the Hornet and her systems...........

LOL Maybe NOT buy so many different types of aircraft per base? Actually I'm being too smart for my own good and apologise! Are these now inherited? as I myself now seem to have some russian aircraft in my selection. Can you go to the base and SELL them? Answer: yes. Go to the base, sell some stuff then gain some space :-)

I guess that's where hacking around with your joystick's programming comes in to it's own. I've set things up to use HOTAS as much as possible. When (if) A-G radar gets implemented that'll be another development in the integration process !!! :lol:

Totally spitballing - but my money would be on the carrier before we finally see a TGP. Wags does like to preview the wares on YouTube before releasing and I 'aint seen nuffink of no TGP yet. The carrier however..................

Do you mean the STORES button over on the left, or GBU button at the top? You sometimes have to swap out of MAV view by pressing it's selector button again to go back to basic stores page. Not in front of computer so can't be more precise. Sorry.

Thanks so much for this. Even if you feel the need / call to abandon it I've really appreciated flying the campaign. Yes- the VR patch is coming soon with allegedly rather good results (I don't VR at the moment, but if it keeps you in the game ;-) )!!! Thanks again :-)

Bugger. Was just downloading and reading the instructions for DAWS to then notice the release dates. It would be a great first step for a small campaign being able to save states after landing. Hey ho, back to the single mission concept.

I'm ready to pre-order the dynamic campaign please :D Oh to merge falcon's campaign with DCS aircraft.

1) With the Hornet using MDI buttons for things like next waypoint, radar range etc I've set up the HOTAS to use MDI 1 and 2 for a multitude of these buttons. I've just kept things simple using the 2. Even having cougar MFDs I prefere using HOTAS as much as possible. 2) "my" field of view discounts the lower MDI. Having to look down is so tiresome (again, having a laugh at myself here lol). I guess having had a "few" years of flying simulators I've got my own setup in my head. Navigation on the left, radar/MAV etc on the right. I know I should have the SA on the middle one, just like it on the left.

I too am not happy about this (in a hyperbolic way mind you :thumbup: ) I don't use the middle Middle MDI so would love it in a gaming sense to be shown on the left. Such is life :)

Sorry. Can't help. I think I had troubles with my stick disconnecting when I first got it and it ironed itself out. I don't think I did anything.
