  1. Gear folds into the body and the under carriage becomes completelly without any "stuff" there. Maybe its placed on the side to keep it clean so they can just go very very low without being afraid to damage expensive and life saving gear? lol nah i got no idea. Best would be to be able to move a gun around i guess. But those ruski pilots are very good at flying so turning to the side might be as good. :)
  2. Way to go ED! But... I think that would been awesome to do a mission with pilots and people on the gun stations. For a bit of variation :)
  3. Since you play BF2, Armed Assault might be something interesting. Only for tactics though as the FM and avionics is much like BF2. But you got huge areas to test tactics in and also a bigger variety of helis. And they got more functions i guess. Some mods installed from the community and you got many different helis, countermeasures, ejection seat on the KA50 etc. And ofcourse you dont have to do the flag capturing business, but more mission based gameplay where you can support a convoy or just do CAS to a bunch of players taking a town etc etc. You can also be resposible for moving players and gear to the front in BH's or MI's. Black Hawks can transport hummers and artillery etc. Again its not realistic when it comes to the air, but you sure can train some tactics and have a lot of fun during the wait for the real deal. ;)
  4. Great artwork. Was also drawing back in the day but stopped - stupid. +1 for larger pics of those if you dont mind. Desktop image :) Regards Alex
  5. Have you tried VLC player? Havent needed a codec in years with this player. Very simple and yet complicated if you want. Can do it all. Test it if you havent. http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
  6. About addons being used on servers as super weapons etc, ArmA is a good example how they solved it. The server should have options (in server config) to allow or disallow addons. "mods=1" or "mods=0". Addon makers should be given a tool where they can "sign" their work so no one can tamper with the addon without breaking the "seal". The signed file is a small extra file that comes with the addon wich contains info about the addon. Addon makers also will be able to make a "server key" to that addon so that the server can add that key to their list and thus only that addon will pass, not a modified version and not any other addons but that one. When it passes, the server checkes its key with the addon and then if it has its signed file. If all is ok - you get into the server. More keys can be added to the server ofcourse so more addons can be used at the same time. This in ArmA has eliminated cheaters and hackers that tampered with addons before (since addons were a vessel/trojan horse to sneak bullshit in). In short, this system gives the server all power to choose what, if any, addons will pass. However, this deals with public servers and wont be needed on private passworded servers i guess. But for pub servers this is at least 1 good way to do it. Regards Alex
  7. Talking about popping smoke - will smoke be view blocked for AI? Im guessing no as the smoke pillars arent that high nor reacting to wind in this engine. Would be nice for the upcoming engine though. So we can pop up behind some huge fire/smoke pillar and infantry etc cant see you. In armed assault we can do this. If there is huge fuel dumps on fire and wind so the smoke is bent in the wind, we can fly with a heli beside it and enemy AI cant see us. Something to think about maybe for future release? ;)
  8. I will have to upgrade hard. LOMAC doesnt run good at all on my machine. F4AF after i installed dual core ran like a dream. Campaign with loads of aircraft taxiing, taking off and land before X2 was about 8-12fps. With X2 installed it was between 30-40fps boost. Couldnt believe my eyes :) Only good thing is that a helicopter dont fly as fast and thus doesnt have to load in terrain, objects and textures at the same rate. Ah we will see. Will put cash on standby to get a new system.
  9. I think its ok for ED to get a piece of it as they made the initial work and will give us tools to make addons with. I only have experience from armed assault and no one makes addons that you have to pay for. This is because its not legal to do so, you can only make free addons. But when you can get some money from it, i think third party addons can be of highest quality. And for ED to get a slice of that when they braught us the foundation is totally ok to me. It will be a bit weird to me as ArmA player since we get new addons everyday, literally, without any cost. But a group of addon makers that can get some money for their addon can put in more effort and time thanks to that. At least thats what i think. I wont have any problems paying for addons either as long as they are of quality and interest. DCS:BS is the big thing im waiting for. Its going to be a huge part of my life ;) Regards Alex
  10. The mission editor has triggers as i read, and with that we can really make things random. I make missions in armed assault and using triggers to set off different attacks at random times and random places (but within an area that makes sense, like from what direction the attackers come from). You will never be able to memorize anything. Only that there will be a certain type of vehicles/infantry, but how many, from where and when...? Different everytime the same mission is started. At least i hope this is what the triggers can do. If its anything like armed assault (VBS) then mission making is going to be very fun. Alex
  11. Im doing sounds for armed assault and are working on the ka50 atm. Its hard when the config is very limited and all material is from youtube etc. But its getting better and better. When it comes to weapons i got a lot of sounds, very realistic ones and will share with anyone wanting them. Im going to coninue to bring out a long good sample loop of the kamov and will ask someone here that have heard them in real life if its good enough :) Link: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=GOq8e0VZkQo Regards Alex
  12. My feelings exactlly. Bad ass cockpits! Also one cockpit i actually know what the buttons are for. :D Nice update! Regards Alex
  13. @Nemises Thanks for the tip about TS noise. ;)
  14. I dont know anything about copy protections, but for for example Live For Speed has a server(?) that keeps your login/password and if someone not have baught it try to go online, they simply cant as it doesnt recognize their name/pass. I dont know if that is a cheap and effective protection though? Maybe login/passwords can leak out if it gets hacked. (Shait hackers grrr). And if it can be downloaded and played easily it will overflow torrent sites with maybe the juicy name "Black Shark Attack Helicopter Simulator", and downloaders wont know it comes with a huge manual plus they might not take "complex" serious enough since you can set most systems to "easy" (i think?). If there will be public servers for BS then those servers can get seriously crippled with people that doesnt give a flying f*ck about team work etc. I just hope there will be some form of protection to secure online gaming, and securing that the money goes to the hard working devs. I dont want a hardcore protection that might mess things up either, but in some form yes.
  15. Great video Beach! I got butterflies in my stomach now. :) It would be very nice with an in game VOIP that when you push to talk would play that radio buzz. Even a bit canned sound when talking through it would also add to the feeling of being in there. Not too much ofcourse, dont want it to interfear. But a short buzz on button press and slight canned voice when talking would be very nice. EDIT: Thanks Shepski! Copy/pasting now. ;) Regards Alex
  16. That is awesome! And yes, nice landing indeed.
  17. The I-Glasses seems to be nice as well. Pricey but nice. Military uses them as you can see if you click around a bit. Think its 800x600 res that gives you an 80inch screen in front of your eyes. Dual screens gives stereo (3D) effect. Combined with TrackIR and your inside the sim completelly. http://www.i-glassesstore.com/iglassespc-3d.html
  18. Response to title of this thread: Ooh yes i will buy it allright. Even got a handfull of friends that will buy it as well. Hard working people bringing us candy like this deserve to get paid. :) Regards Alex
  19. I think it was taken care of in 1997 actually after a couple of updates of the FCS software.
  20. Just need to say: Truly amazing project Trigger! Wish i could do that as well. I'll settle for MFDs and some switches along with TiR and a buttkicker. Should get me "into action" a bit more at least. Awesome work!
  21. That was what you said in the post before me... right. Just being a bit slow mate. :) Buttkicker will be ordered!
  22. What about the "subtle" fast shake when firing the gun or letting rockets/missiles off? I just see it everytime i watch a video recording from cockpit. So since the persons hand that are filming it shakes ca 1 second i take it the whole heli shakes when firing? That wouldnt in my opinion be an annoying thing nor unrealistic. But again - i never flown an attack helicopter and even less fired rockets/guns/missiles from one.
  23. Sounds good. Would be nice when you fire as well that it shakes a bit on rocket release etc. Small subtle shakes. Maybe there allready is on firing? Im not too deep into whats done so far. Trying to keep up though. Nice idea however. Brings more realism for sure.
  24. Thanks for the warm welcome guys! Now why isnt BS installed on my computer yet? im just being a newcomer. Keep doing your awesome work and ill continue to daydream.:pilotfly: Devil out.
  25. Hey guys and DCS team! Me and a group of people are looking forward to Black Shark! We come from different places and have joined up in a team where we play Armed Assault at the moment (not the most realistic flight models but...). Me myself come from Falcon and LOMAC and i have dreamt of a really good attack heli sim as this seems to be. Some of the guys in my team have even got HOTAS now in wait for Black Shark :smilewink: Im 35 years and from Sweden. Ive been on computers since the awesome commodore 64. I live in Stockholm and work with graphics on a daily basis. Hope to meet you in the skies people! Best Regards Alex "Devil"
