  1. Same here. Playing the SC in the rain made my FPS go from 30 average to 18 FPS while on the Deck.
  2. And I would MUCH RATHER have the next new addition be some version of Dynamic Campaign. I'm ready for war simulation and story-driven combat scenarios... this, for me, over new clouds, new jets, new whatever.
  3. Thanks, Flankerjun! Just out of curiosity: what is your water set to and are you doing full 3840 x 2160 res? Thanks for the quick response!
  4. ^^^ My experience on all counts. If someone could solve the DCS shadows problem, they'd have a BIG WIN on their hands, indeed! Perhaps Vulkan could allow 5 cores to cover shadows alone.
  5. Hey, Fellas. Quick favor to ask if anyone is willing/equipped. I've been considering upgrading to a 2080 Super GPU (see current specs in my sig.). Would anyone here with that card be willing to test the "Cold & Dark" start Hornet Super Carrier mission at full 4k (3840 x 2160) resolution and report your performance findings with everything set to max graphically (but msaa, sslr, ssma set to "off")? Or less specifically, be willing to report on general performance in DCS at 3840 x 2160 with the 2080 Super? Not looking to blow the money if the Super Carrier is bringing the 2080's (non-ti) to their knees. Thanks, in advance!
  6. My thoughts EXACTLY! I sometimes wonder if the testing team ever tries the game at full 4K as well.
  7. Hey, Hawk. Just out of curiosity: what is your CPU and Gpu spec? I'm playing at full 4K with all settings on High (minus SSLR, MSAA and SSAA as well) with an 8700K & 1070 SC. On the deck in the "cold start" persian gulf Hornet mission, I'm only getting 40 FPS at the very highest, dropping to 29 FPS when looking towards the LSO station (but there are also several live AI hornets and other Statics in view).
  8. Same for me. The LSO station seems to give me about a 15 fps hit when looking at it. I play in full 4K on a 1070 SC.
  9. Pretty sure the option to turn it off is coming... I'm just surprised they started without the option. It's a very cool feature... that I'll never use.
  10. Agreed 100%.
  11. Good grief, YES! I've had the Phoenix follow me through the mountains and kill me at 1ft AGL in a valley after being launched from an AI Tomcat 45 miles away. :)
  12. Excellent point!
  13. 100%. The F-15C is the only pure air to air, single seat U.S. fighter available in DCS. I won't purchase the Strike Eagle (I love the strike and WVR capabilities of the Hornet). An F-15C full fidelity would be a day one, pre purchase for me, though.
  14. Maybe they could also add some restrictions for realism: Last night, I witnessed 10 - 12 takeoffs by various aircraft (Hornet, A-10, Viper) on the Blue side from the grass and/or taxi ways. Pretty ridiculous.
  15. You've likely already tried this so forgive me if so, but are you doing a G-warmup? DCS models the g-warmup's effect on the pilots tolerance.
  16. I find a Sparrow-Sidewinder-Cannon armed Tomcat pretty harmless to fly against...BVR or WVR, that's my point.
  17. No, the Tomcat is not the Air to Air King. The Phoenix missile is.
  18. Agreed.
  19. Jack up the winds and they ABSOLUTELY sway like real trees.
  20. ^^^
  21. Ditto. Well said. My thoughts exactly.
  22. Thanks, B! Unfortunately, I think (I can't remember now:doh:) that in my attached track above, it was an STT from regular bvr mode and not ACM.
