  1. Good grief, YES! I've had the Phoenix follow me through the mountains and kill me at 1ft AGL in a valley after being launched from an AI Tomcat 45 miles away. :)
  2. Excellent point!
  3. 100%. The F-15C is the only pure air to air, single seat U.S. fighter available in DCS. I won't purchase the Strike Eagle (I love the strike and WVR capabilities of the Hornet). An F-15C full fidelity would be a day one, pre purchase for me, though.
  4. Maybe they could also add some restrictions for realism: Last night, I witnessed 10 - 12 takeoffs by various aircraft (Hornet, A-10, Viper) on the Blue side from the grass and/or taxi ways. Pretty ridiculous.
  5. You've likely already tried this so forgive me if so, but are you doing a G-warmup? DCS models the g-warmup's effect on the pilots tolerance.
  6. I find a Sparrow-Sidewinder-Cannon armed Tomcat pretty harmless to fly against...BVR or WVR, that's my point.
  7. No, the Tomcat is not the Air to Air King. The Phoenix missile is.
  8. Agreed.
  9. Jack up the winds and they ABSOLUTELY sway like real trees.
  10. ^^^
  11. Ditto. Well said. My thoughts exactly.
  12. Thanks, B! Unfortunately, I think (I can't remember now:doh:) that in my attached track above, it was an STT from regular bvr mode and not ACM.
  13. I wouldn't think that more powerful would always have to mean higher flow. Tech advances. Newer engine tech can produce more power and more efficiency (I.e. I'd assume the latest Raptor engines are more powerful and more efficient than the F-14's engines, though I could be wrong). For the Hornet's notorious lack of fuel and short legs.... you'd better believe they were doing everything humanly possible to produce the most economic engine for a fighter with a low amount of fuel capacity to begin with... but afterburner is still afterburner so something to look at.
  14. I think I'm in the right thread here... Just playing a bit with the Viper today and the HMD and noticing that, when I look at the HUD, ALL HMD symbology disappears and it looks great and feels natural. However, in the Hornet, when I look at the HUD while using the HMD, it still shows some HMD symbology (that never goes away) and sometimes there's the double-vision of HMD symbology overlaid against HUD symbology. Is this a DCS Hornet bug or in the real Hornet, does some of the HMD sym. stick around even when looking through the HUD? ** I'll post a screenshot later. **
  15. Agreed! This would be really cool...think about the ridiculous price of a legato stream deck.
  16. Make sure somebody's testing it on a 1070, 8700K rig at full 4K, will ya? :smilewink:
  17. Honestly, what are you even talking about? The trees look great in this screenshot. And as BigNewy said, the beauty of DCS and the hype/trailer videos is that they ARE being made with the exact same graphics available to us. Have you ever cranked up the wind, by the way, and watched them? All however-million trees on that map move, bend, and sway in the wind. The trees are actually quite remarkable in DCS. Their shadows can make our hardware cry, though. :)
  18. Suggestion: Stop thinking about your favorite module or feature and remember that ED has a million and one very demanding and complex jobs they're working on. Let's shut up and wait. Play an hour or two on Stable, then go outside, write a loved one a note, read a book, watch a movie, go for a walk, visit the elderly... sheesh. We're such a bunch of fickle, impatient, narrow-minded, selfish, indoors-ie, pale nerds around here! :)
  19. Reported here: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=4310716#post4310716
  20. Have you checked out all of the aircraft setup options coming with this? https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3803475&postcount=131 It's going to save me more than seconds!
  21. Playing the old classic, Graphsim's F/A-18 Hornet 3.0 and Korea, I used to enjoy using the GMT mode to pick up moving convoys and tanks as well as SEA to pick out ships. I wonder (err..umm..GB/Lex :smilewink:) what real Hornet pilots would say about use of these two modes? Again, I think they will be a lot of fun to play with, but I don't think they are nearly as high up the list as many here assume. ED has done a pretty good job at giving us the essentials first.
  22. I for one am more excited for the AZ/EL page to be implemented rather than the AG radar...though it will be very fun to play around with. I already find the Hornet to be pretty lethal for AG in its current state.
  23. To be clear: Do you mean that, while you are tracking a particular target in STT with your scope, other datalink aircraft should be showing up in the surrounding area of the scope (not locked, but like MSI feature) in addition to the STT contact I'm tracking? THanks.
