  1. I know we tested this quite extensively in multiplayer, but did the single player version play out well for you, Bud?
  2. fitness88, I have found the offending file, in my case, by messing around and adding the mods I use on my gaming computer to my laptop (server). I normally don't mod the server but I needed to find a solution to this problem so I could get rid of this texture issue on my gaming machine. The fault lies in the file: Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Config\graphics.lua I modded mine awhile back to get a farther draw distance on certain static ground objects. It appears that this file has added entries in the recent 1.5.6 update so I suggest you restore the new graphics.lua file and then test. If your texture problem goes away, you can mod the new graphics.lua file and see how it goes. This solved my problem, so I hope it might be the same in your case and might save you the work of installing mods one at a time to find the offender. Good Luck!
  3. fitness88, yes but this may be the only way to find the offending mod. I have the same problem as you but I'm away from my computer for some days and cannot troubleshoot it.
  4. cthulhu68's answer above is correct, the MiG-29s external model is new so all old skins no longer work. Since you are not using any custom skins I don't know why the new stock skin won't show in the game when game mods are installed. If you have no custom skins in your MiG-29s skin folder then it seems one of your mods may be causing the issue. Try to remove all your mods, then install them again but only one at a time, then start the game and view the MiG to see which mod is causing this. Anyone else having trouble seeing a proper skin texture for the new MiG-29s?
  5. I'd love to order one of these but I'm afraid that the 15º stick deflection is going to be too small for a desktop side mounted joystick. Making some rough measurements, it looks like 15º would be perfect for a floor center mounted stick with an extension, but too short a throw for a side mount with no extension. I'd love to see a video showing the range of left/right movement of one of these units without an extension, if someone would care to make one when you receive your T-50.

  7. I agree with wolle, fps seem a bit better but the new stuttering in release ver 1.5.6 is a terrible price to pay for it. For me each stutter seems to be related to an event happening in the mission, a plane spawning in, a weapon being used, an explosion occurring, etc. I hope ED gets to the source of these stutters. Looking now at the sheer number of things added or claiming to be fixed in this release version patch, it's only reasonable to say I think some of these "fixes" didn't go well and are probably causing these stutters. 1.5.5 was "stutter free" for me and my Squadron mates.
  8. We flew a 2.5 hour multiplayer session tonight in release ver 1.5.6.1938 and noticed the following: 1. Mouse cursor does not go away when idle. 2. CBU-97's dropped from the A-10A again cause a major pause when exploding. 3. Some aircraft, when spawning in after mission start, are causing a major pause. It may be the MiG-29A doing this, I'll have to test more. 4. The clouds are wacky. Sometimes they swirl and boil as you approach them then they change to streaks/lines and disappear. 5. Anti-radiation missiles do perform better than in 1.5.5 but as one of our members commented "It looks like they may have just increased the amount of splash damage the missiles do. They still really do not hit the target, but no problem, the larger splash seems to kill the SAM". 6. FPS in general seems to be a bit improved for me, getting a steady 60 fps in the Su-25T with mirrors on, vsync on. These jerks and pauses are not random, there seems to be a mission event happening in every instance that causes them to occur like some aircraft or vehicle(s) spawning in or some weapon being deployed or exploding. I was flying an Su-25T and others were in A-10A's. These are my first impressions of the 1.5.6 patch and I have to say I'm a bit confused. I'm used to ED's new patches improving performance instead of creating jerks and pauses. I'm unable to upload a track as it was a huge file but I'll be doing more flying and testing in the next weeks. Maybe I can get a track that's not so big that shows some of these little nasties. I was also using one mod tonight "Starways Terrain" and didn't want to leave the session to remove it once I started experiencing the jerks/pauses because the other pilots in the flight all had pure clients and were experiencing and observing the same things.
  9. In the 1.5.5 release version: In single player the Jet Blast Deflector comes up right after you ask for Takeoff Permission. In multiplayer, you never get the JBD because there is no Takeoff Permission option in the ATC menu.
  10. I'm just not ready to go VR yet. There's still the problem of using my button boxes, Thrustmaster MFD's, Saitek levers, desktop cheatsheets, etc. not to mention the infancy of the technology and the currently available resolutions. I've too much invested in these touchable/visual devices and too much software that is not fully mouse clickable. I'm enjoying my ultra wide monitor and it will have to get me by until VR evolves enough for me to jump in.

I've been a trackIR user for many years and always hated the way very small head movements were handled so I added a small "dead zone" to the center of all my trackIR axis' so I'd be able to scratch my nose without the view changing. I thought this would be a more natural look as the screen wasn't jumping around with very small head movements. Lately I've seen many videos created with VR headsets and I can see the rapid and small view changes with small head movements, something I really dislike. So, my question is: Is there a way to add a small center null zone to the VR headset experience?

  14. Yes, you're right. Maybe a bug? The plane always explodes when the tailpipes scrape the ground or the carrier deck. You'd think damage would result rather than the immediate explosion and instant evaporation of the plane. It's possible to receive other types of combat damage so the Su-33 does have some type of damage modeling. ED, can this be fixed?

  16. Forza42, using the F-10 menu to activate groups is working for our squadron in Multiplayer. Under what conditions do you find that the F-10 menu is not working?
  17. IIRC the Mk-20's had been severely castrated at one point in the patching evolution of DCS 1.5. Our squadron gave up their use on the A-10A because a direct hit would not kill even an unarmored truck. Has this been changed? Do the Mk-20's possess any lethality in the game now? Same question for the CBU-87.
  18. Yes, you are correct. For AI, parking in an assigned spot after landing has never worked. You may be able to get around this if you're the mission builder. Just place a fuel truck or another static object in the places where you don't want the AI to park. He'll pass by it. If there's no parking spots remaining at all for him, he will de-spawn.

  20. That's good advice. After I got new glasses, I couldn't figure out why my TrackIR would go crazy occasionally. It turned out to be reflections off my shiny new eyeglass' frames!

  22. In release version 1.5.5, use "Takeoff from ramp" to put an aircraft on the carrier with all systems off.

Also noticed tonight, in the release version 1.5.5, in addition to the "Request Takeoff" option being missing from ATC selection in multiplayer takeoffs from the Carrier, the "Request Taxi" and "Request Takeoff" options are both missing when starting an Su-33 from a land based runway. In single player all is fine.... in multiplayer it's bugged.
  24. Sorry ST0RM, not using the NTTR yet. But in 1.5.5. release version we have no tires blowing on takeoff when rotating at 125 kts with takeoff flaps (full flaps if you're really heavy). Try to rotate a bit earlier in NTTR and just wait for the takeoff. We do get blown tires though, front and/or mains, on landing if braking too hard from high speed. True, there's no cockpit illumination or flashlight, only the instruments illumination. (Note: the backup compass on the cockpit frame does not illuminate). True, there's no NVG but I think there's a mod that adds this IIRC. This being a FC3 aircraft, it's not going to be full featured and does have it's share of bugs. Every once in a great while ED fixes or adds something new which we are grateful for.
