DCS Mi24P Hind 3d printed Aiming Station build
Razorback replied to hannibal's topic in DCS: Mi-24P Hind
That's for sure a master piece ! When available on the Virpil Website ? Are you thinking of producing a document that explains all the construction, the origin of certain parts, the switch models, the connection to the LB board, etc.? With of course the files that would allow to reproduce the parts with a 3D printer... -

Combined Arms! A french guy has build a similar system (replica of the Leclerc turret controller)... -
Do I really need 4.000Mhz RAM for DCS (VR)?
Razorback replied to Razorback's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hello LucShep, Thank you very much for your feedback and the comprehensive analysis. It was clear and comprehensive ! It actually confirms what I thought. A last more practical question, in view of my Maximus II pro Hero motherboard and my i9 11900K CPU, is it better to take 2 x 32Gb or 4x16Gb (or does it play no role other than keeping slots available for future upgrade?or ist it?) Hi all, I'm busy building a DCS-only, VR-ready war machine. I already have the CPU, GPU, MB and I am currently looking for the best RAM. I'm actually still wondering about three things: Is it really worth it to get 4.000Mhz RAM compared to 3.200Mhz for DCS? Is it really important to reduce latency and therefore take CL16 instead of CL19? Is there any real added value in taking 64Gb instead of 32Gb? My CPU: I9-11900K CM: Asus Rog Maximus III Hero GPU: Nvidia RTX 3090 FE Thx a lot for you advices...

Should be fixed with the following patches...Don't forget it's still an EA ! I am sure that a lot of improvments will come in the following weeks or months...
-
Already done....Nice but a little bit boring when you don't see what you do ! Knowing that in addition the Huey and the Mi-8 perfectly allow this kind of operations in reality...
-
Please ED, could you see if it is possible to integrate fast roping operation into our favourite simulator? It would be just wonderful to imagine one day seeing fast roping from a huey or the Mi-8! Pleaaaaassseeee

It's a current bugg on DCS and it was already reported. Same issue with the Mi-24P. Try with the Ka-50 and you will see that all is fine. So, it's not an issue connected with your Virpil collective....
-
Planned yes ! When ? Nobody knows except the developers...

If you want to fly an helicopter : Go go go for the Hind (or the Mi-8)! If you just want to destroy all the targets on the ground whitout to much difficulties in controlling your machine : KA-50

Thx a lot for your analyse LucShep. For sure it's never a good time to upgrade your sim PC because we know that something new will come in the following months. A new GPU (ike the RTX 4090), a new Intel CPU,... At one moment you have to decide what to do. I have made the decision to build my new PC before the end of the year. I am also quite pessimistic about the prices of electronics and it is certain that the new items will still be above the current prices (which are already above the "normal"). My wallet has a limit to how much I can spend versus how much I can make...

Thx for the info, really interesting... I will further check all these before placing any order!

I always had Pc with Intel CPu. I currently have an i7-8700k, a 1080ti GPU and all is running very well with all DCS settings in High or even ultra. Multimonitor and my main screen is a Samsung G9 Odyssey. I will migrate to VR end of 2021 and that’s why I want to upgrade my computer. I always had good results with all my intel CPUs and it’s aslo why I don’t want to migrate to another system. And you are correct, nobody knows when Vulkan will be up and running on DCS...We don’t have received any updates regarding this topics since a very long time despite the fact that ED has annouced Vulkan for Q3 2021!

https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i9-11900K-vs-Intel-Core-i9-10900K/4110vs4071 It seems that when using Only one core the i9-11900k is faster...when we know that DCS is currently running only with one core (before The arrival of Vulkan on DCS), it should be an advantage to run with it... If I am not mistaken...

What’s the most advantage of the i9-11900k compared to the 10900k for DCS?
-
I am also building my new DCS computer : Here is the list of my current choice. Comments are more than welcome CPU : Intel i9-10900K 3.7 Ghz GPU : Nvidia RTX 3090 FE Mother board : Asus Rog Maximus XIII Hero RAM : G.Skill Trident Z 32 Go (2x 16 Go) DDR4 4000 MHz CL19 Cooling : Corsair hydro H150i RGB Pro XT

NS 430 for the HIND? And is the NS430 dead?
Razorback replied to Rhinozherous's topic in DCS: NS 430
Check ! Thxxxx I just realised that I have two screens (multi monitor) and that it probably appears in the left-hand corner of my second screen -

Same map as the F10 view ? This map was apparently used in the very first Mi-24P video shown by Matt (Hind over Latakia) so I guess this solution was studied but I don't know why it was then abandoned...
