  1. Come over to the light side, we have cookies,.. :D As a rule of thumb have a look at taskmanager for best smooth running I avoid 2 conditions 1 maxing out the single core performance and having the GPU hit 100% ether of those conditions will usually result in a drop in FPS or a stutter or 2 so I attempt to have settings that allow some headroom. Unfortunately for you shadows need to be off mostly but if umm when you do come across ;) do have a look with shadows it does make the immersion better, but close up it's not as polished in VR as on a screen and looks a tad cartoony IMO but it's still pretty darn good, I guess we got in at the EGA level. :P And there is something about racing the Mi-8 a metre above the deck at 250K/H through the sparser forests areas in Caucasus region, sure to bring a smile to your dial. @Hawkeye60 Hi The other good one is standup in the Gazelle. :megalol:
  2. The Gazelle looks great. Yours?
  3. With Rift the helis are fairly good they are not picture perfect but readable for me what aircraft in particular as there can be differences between modules.
  4. Great stuff to know thanks, it's way to easy to exceed VNE on the way down exiting a loop, in real life I'll just follow the IP's directions but in DCS meh! I may have broke a couple of Gazelles trying. :megalol:
  5. I am pretty optimistic PC have come a long way since the Gazelle was first released they are a small group however the last improvements have IMO improved the FM a lot so I tend to think glass half full. PC got some pretty nasty treatment in the past so I guess that's why they are somewhat defensive, hopefully this discussion wont degenerate like that. I'd rather hope moving forward things will get better. Just as an observation there really isn't much difference between 45FPS and 90FPS in VR although if I push the CPU/GPU hard with higher settings DCS is not as responsive and that reflects on all modules. But 90FPS (with CPU and GPU headroom) makes the experience buttery smooth. What do you use for cyclic input? It's just that I got by with a joy stick for Huey and Mi8 but the Gazelle was horrid with a joystick mostly to do with the mechanical centering action and built in "dead zone" (in the joystick electronics) in the roll and pitch axis and with the Gazelle that masked very fine control. Yes I have questioned the centric nature of the Gazelle cyclic. I think a lot of users find the Gazelle bad not so much from a FM perspective but from a the way a joystick makes the Gazelle twitchy in response IMO.
  6. It will become normalised after a while.
  7. What actual crazy stuff? You need to keep an open mind. :) And that folks is why I like the Gazelle. :D
  8. I am not a pilot but even small inputs have an effect. No I have only ghosted the controls on autos, all the same I'll keep the stick thanks. :D Is a stable hover at 5000ft in the flight envelope for a Robi??
  9. Also have a Here if you already haven't, could help.
  10. Actually if you can get by on what you already have, wait, new AMD video cards are coming out which may or may not be the answer but should help bring GPU prices down.
  11. Yes I think we are saying the same thing however remaining on the same path and applying more power is not the answer it will usually just make the situation worse. This is what I mean by stepping out of it sideways, the aim is to get out of the vortex condition by moving into undisturbed air to regain lift.
  12. Wait until you can fly it.
  13. Bull$hit no helicopter can do it, VRS means the downward thrust no longer supports the aircraft, gravity has won. YMMV.
  14. Like this,.. See mar no cyclic,.. :P :music_whistling:
  15. Is it possible where you live to do an introductory flight at a flying school? Serious question. The Gazelle has many of the control inputs that I expect and I also consider correct in that it "feels" like an Mi8 or a Huey or an R44. Because well it can be done. :D touch the cyclic and all bets are off till you re balance it. I would disagree in that it does make a noticeable difference, at least IMHO. :) Considering your already in VRS applying more power is not the answer, plan b step out of it sideways if you can. ;) Observation, a table mounted joy stick is the worst thing I have tried to simulate a cyclic, all be it in a sim. Joy stick didn't work for me For my setup the Gazelle is not twitchy at all in fact it's very smooth. Maybe, power required to maintain an arc of travel is different given the mass of the aircraft, the inertia seems right especially when you loose control. Doh! Just some musings.
  16. Danm it coffee :music_whistling: Oh right mmmm 2080Ti Ouch$ ;) MMM let me think 1.7ish+ Ghz water cooled only because the 3 fan units increase case heat. Plus you'll want at least some performance increase right? You'll get by with CPU and RAM
  17. Why would you want a 1060? If you have a 1080 I'm not sure what you want to achieve and a 2070 wont be that much better you would need to go 2080 at least. ??
  18. Okay what hardware and is this something that has changed?
  19. Not experiencing that in Rift 1 to 2 minutes SP maybe 3 minutes MP.
  20. Whilst there seems to be some tweaks going under the bonnet we need to balance the fact that we are using open alpha and the software is very complex meaning we are going to have issues from time to time. I know it can be a PIA at times but I seem to remember these "painful" times from before and as before DCS will gather all the info from AO and OB users and apply it to DCS. Then we we once again gain the benefits of DCS World. DCS World is a synonym for patience. :music_whistling:
  21. I'll just add I have had to back off some OC settings as I was also getting crashes. Normal settings seem okay under tests but DCS seems more critical I can't explain it it's just an observation so far.
  22. That's my point and whilst I still have several modules locked in by starforce and possibly a hardware issue it's a trap. Looking forward to having all of the modules bought over to the new system. Hopefully soon.
  23. That's a very valid point, improvements have bought the FM a long way and it is nothing like it was over 2 years ago. Thanks also for the heads up on development looking forward to taking the new helicopter for a spin. :D Cheers borchi_2b.
  24. Just as an aside I have had to throttle back some OC settings namely RAM speed, even though the settings seeded okay with tests. FWIW latest nvidia driver seems fine for me win10.
  25. Okay does this imply a 1 deg of roll with a 1 cm of cyclic roll movement. Would 30 deg of roll imply 30 cm of cyclic roll travel? *Wagtendonk Ch 12 blow-back (blow-forward) when using the collective in unaccelerated flight describes this effect. Also speaking of blow-back (et al) the feedback into the attitude and thus cyclic input of the Gazelle is not there compared to say a Huey accelerating in forward flight where the nose wants to lift up, should we get more blow-back/transverse-flow effect interacting on attitude as we accelerate? Just curious it seems the control inputs are there but not the attitude/CoG influences acting on the aircraft, any input appreciated thanks. *Wagtendonk Principles of Helicopter Flight sceond edition. :)
