A Robinson R44 Cadet, both used as civil and military trainer, great to fly.

Alright lets just say this is a somewhat interesting process, amazing how tied down to your LAN this software is.

More than 360 the audio emitters need to be able to approximate at least a sphere around the player 360 on x and 360 on y. :D  Think elevator door horizontal plane and traveling up/down vertical plane. Practical example I was flying Gazelle on a server at about 150mtr and had an aircraft fly under me I got the fly past in the horizontal plane but the sound should have arrived from below. ;)

Bottom picture left of shot whats with the copper looking stain? Years ago Sony had a bad problem with capacitors leaking, once this occured it was a matter of time and copper would be desolved the electrolyte was also conductive with bad consequences especially in SMPS and as for spicy smell more like tom cat pee smell.

This is just an observation, I have noticed over the last 3 or so updates on OB that VR performance and quality have improved almost to that of DCS 2.2ish although I am still not getting 90FPS in Rift yet! DCS 2.2 980Ti == 90FPS, DCS 2.5 1080Ti == 45FPS,.. I have not seen any mention of VR improvements in the updates however progressively over the last few updates using task manager it seems less GPU and CPU intensive and image quality of things like the tyre treads on the tracks parked around the airports the labels on boxes seem better to the point of even dropping PD from 1.2 down to 1.1 I might add I only did this last week until then I made no changes to my settings. Reducing the PD reduced the amount of ASW artefacts in the Caucasus map. I should point out most of my flying involves helicopters close to the ground and fast unless of course I hit something. However in Nevada things like the reflections in the glass on buildings really pops now and looks visually gorgeous surface textures have much more detail. Also DCS seems more responsive overall. One side effect is since about 3 or 4 updates ago I have had the odd random crash and BSOD and also what appears to be lag on SP?? I'm not aware of any updates Windows, Oculus, Nvidia etc in that period. Anyone else notice improvements?

Actually yes! Many rivers in that region do not flow into the sea. But doubt thats the cause. :D I find the PG map to be a bit of a resource hog compared to say NTTR map try increasing preload radius etc and/or turning down some in game graphic settings like MSAA and PD.

Why? First consider a budget and what you expect from the outlay. As a rough guesstimate. Aim for high 4 and early 5Ghz CPU. DCS is pretty much single core clock bound. i5 9600k, i7 9700k &etc mobo 390z 16GB DDR 4 will get you by, 32 can be better, good RAM speed doesn't have to be 4GB/s. If you are thinking VR RTX2080 unless you can pick up 1080Ti at a good price. OS and DCS on SSD? Yes.

You could, I even considered it in assembler still might, but look at either the solution from Sokol1_br or another from Leo Bodnar and there are others already out there with support software. :D Using a diode matrix would involve doing some basic scan output and read input either using an entire port for read and another for write in c/c++ or you could be a little more creative in assembler however the CPU's have a large number of i/o ports anyway.

Cool I've set up the second account waiting for email verification and now have a collection of helicopters and the Yak and NTTR waiting. Cheers all and thanks! I might gift them to my second account see if I can use some of that credit I have build up. :D

So your ordering a 2080Ti as well.. you will need to O/C to 4.5Ghz plus,.. Welcome To The Machine. :D:D

Yep I'm generally disappointed with the surround mix of movies, there are some very well mixed titles. But I do find the THX sampler right at the end has a great mix. Just a hunch but I think the mix is usually done to cater for the greater uneducated audience with $99 systems which is a shame really audio is an important part of the over all movie/game experience. I get this with Xbox,:D

Good to know, only had experience.with 980ti with 1.5/2.2 and now 1080ti in 2.5 I know we took a performance hit with deferred Shadiding locked in on 2.5.

Without knowing exactly your situation DCS can be an intimidating experience at first however there is a silver lining once you get through the basics. Recommend 16GB RAM SSD atleast for the DCS game install min 1060/1070/RX Vega for 2K screen 1080ti for VR CPU Clock as fast as you can get. although for 2K 3.8Ghz should work. DCS will get you hooked once you get a taste for the SIM you'll be getting fancy joysticks, pedals and worse if you get into helicopters cyclic and collective as well. Oh and long load times are part and parcel of DCS even on high end PC's, wait till you jump onto a multi player server. :P

Okay I have had this intermittent BSOD which first started a few updates ago in open beta. The error windows points to is "Clock Watchdog Timout" in the logs apart from the normal few bits a pieces missing etc DCS seems to attempt to re initialize all the USB devices this seems to be a consistent feature of the logs and always pretty much the last events listed in the log file. Crash occurs both in MP and SP. ClockWatchTimeout.zip

Lean out of window view.lua / server.lua mod
FragBum replied to iRocco's topic in How To Mod for DCS World
just fly in VR and stick your head out of the side of the aircraft,.. :D -
Why is VR FPS so poor in comparison to monitor?
FragBum replied to imacken's topic in Virtual Reality
Yes stereoscopic and you can also freely look around in a simulated 3D environment, takes some number crunching. :) -
:megalol:::megalol::megalol: I have respect for power lines. :music_whistling:

Raise a ticket with ED, from my experience the DRM is dodgy and it has always cost me a few "registrations" when I try to the process.

I'm looking at a DCS build and thinking i5 9600K it's only a 6 core 6 thread but DCS doesn't benefit from hyperthreading. I think the z390 pretty much any flavour I'm looking at the lower end EVGA range mobo but latter I have an upgrade path for the CPU. for the 9600k I save over 200 bucks over the the other 9xxx CPU's currently on offer. Besides I'm not sure for DCS whether any of the features the high end boards have really do anything for DCS anyway. As for i5/i7 on my i7 5930k I get up to 16~18% CPU utilisation 1 core peddling pretty hard another core doing a bit and the other 10 cores doing sod all under DCS but when I render NEF's out to jpgs it's great to watch all 12 cores hit full utilisation. Having said that Vulkan API threatens to provide multi core utilisation so that might be interesting for AMD threadripper offerings. I currently have a NH D15 on my OCed i7 5930@4.7Ghz I've only bothered to put 1 fan on and it's more than enough to keep the CPU cool even on a 40c day, although it's too hot to strap a heater umm Rift to your face when the temps are like that. 32GB is nice to have. PSU's 750W to 850W is more than enough.

Well it seems I will need to setup another account, near future is to just have the second PC so my wife can give it ago as well. :D The sever might happen a little later down the track. Would a hosted service be best for a "server" or is it just easier to host it from home? The ol OC sitting in the corner thing. :)

Huey and landing! Where are those experts pilot with quick landing :)
FragBum replied to Frag's topic in DCS: UH-1H
<typo> On a more practical note, keep in mind the Huey Pilots in Vietnam were well trained, and practiced a lot so they knew the aircraft it's limits and the Army Flight Manual. I'd recommend Chicken Hawk it gave me some insight and was also a recommended read to me from a friend. :D The other thing I'd mention with the Huey, any heli really, is listen to the rotor and turbine sounds that will tell you a lot of whats going on especially going in and out of ETL. I also found adding dynamic weather and wind helpful for practise. HTH Did he really shoot out the omni gauge. -

@Backspace hmmmp from your link above, my wife commented that at least you had more clearance from the trees and ground than I do, I had to explain you were in a Huey and needed more clearance because the rotor is larger. :music_whistling: :D
