  1. Yes  Keep in mind PD may look and preform better even at a lower level maybe even 1.2 to 1.5 ish
  2. Hahahahaha,. Sorry trigen I do not mean the belittle your plight but that is funny. :D The 1080Ti works for me and should for you as well. Have you checked that you have enough lanes open for the PCIE slot the GPU is in, in bios and that it is seated and powered correctly?
  3. Well I'm going to say yes, but! I tried the Huey and yes thought it's more lively and floaty, I know right? I have a stock NTTR mission with dynamic wind and yes it felt different hovering, I then tried Gazelle and Mi-8 and I think DCS is more responsive. Also the VR resolution seemed better. So I tried a no wind NTTR test Now I have to qualify this observation as only last night I applied the latest patch OB 2.5.3.23225 Now AD indicated in another thread that the MIG 29 (i think) felt more PIO in control response as well. To me DCS seems smother,.. :)
  4. I'll check it out when I get home but seemed okay this last weekend.
  5. Yeah that grass is really tough it even pokes up through the floor of my Gazelle. :P It's been a feature for a long time but at the end of the day it's no biggie. ;)
  6. So I found this is this the same technology? It looks pretty good, is this the same technology? It looks pretty good if only it looked that good in VR Maybe the future??
  7. I think it an undocumented feature of DCS, enjoy. :D
  8. Okay there is a "General" controls setup and a model dependent one which you setup for individual models aka FA-18, A10 etc and what ever else you might own all individually. These need to be checked as well to see if there isn't any oddness.
  9. Wow think of the heated discussions on the flight model,.. :P
  10. Are you running DCS stand alone or Steam?? Okay silly maybe try a repair of DCS Windows Start->Eagle Dynamics->Repair If you haven't and I am not sure what and when, have you restarted your PC? Item that are already assigned need to be cleared before you can assign something else, generally. When you say 3D do you mean VR? Do the control inputs go nuts when in the options menu??
  11. Meh my bad I re read your post seems your all over that issue. not sure what to check after that. Cheers.
  12. It's likely more a case of practice, I find the Mi-8 easier than the Huey keep in mind you don't have an IP (instructor pilot) with you and your controls/setup is important. It's sometimes easier to learn if you can get some help on a multiplayer server to talk you through the basics and get you started. Unfortunately crashing is part and parcel of it, fortunately that's fine in DCS we all get to walk away. Oil Rig is more a case of getting the feel for landing with bugger all references apart from a platform sticking out of the sea, as has been said keeping sink rate (VSI) in check is key to well any helicopter. Happy to help if we can get time windows to sync.
  13. :D
  14. Sorry you don't get nominated for a Darwin Award if you take out others it's only if you successfully remove your self form the gene pool. :P  Rules are rules,.. :D
  15. So what your saying is we need gravitational field generator and an Inertial damper system. :P
  16. Sadist_Cain is correct, also please be aware that most "ordinary joysticks" have a programmed "dead zone" * built into them which makes it difficult to fully control the Gazelle. We both kinda converged at the same place with joystick input. Some observations with joystick input. Great write up about FFB joysticks here Going over to a third party USB interface is the best option, I now use a Leo Bodnar USB interface and the Gazelle is pretty darn good although for physical reasons I do use some saturation even with a 250mm extension. :) * the characteristic is more of a magnetic attraction to the center of control voltage when the stick is bought back to mechanical center and a kinda hold off until the stick is moved enough away from center. <edit> From the developer
  17. Yeah G's are mostly monetary first time I got inverted in a Yak 52 g-force holds you in the seat until your inverted that is no longer rolling then your weight bears down on your shoulders and thighs (briefly you think is the harness done up correctly because I don't think that perspex would stop me :P) some other manoeuvres create much longer G-force/centrifugal effects on you especially in L39 :D. BTW I got stick time as well and doing rolls in the DCS yak 52 feels oh so similar it's amazing how the brain fills in the missing details especially in VR.
  18. This might be a clue and seems related to DX11 / Nvidia driver. Your hardware/driver is not compatible.
  19. No MP just takes a while to load, just get a coffee whilst loading and it's all good.:D
  20. Maybe back off some of the settings in DCS, I use MSAA @ 4 and PD @ 1.2 (Rift) there is still some jagged lines and artefacts. Some folks drop the MSAA all together and increase PD to 1.5 ~2 that doesn't work for me but as I say it suits some people. 2.5 got a huge performance hit when they locked deferred shading. I generally try to keep GPU at an average of around 60 to 70% utilisation and keep CPU core (the most active one) well below 100 usually around 80% this gives some head room. Also even with a 1080Ti I have to accept 45FPS  DCS world 2.2.x used to rock with Rift with 90FPS good image quality and using my old 980Ti but I guess thats progress, right. :P I find the map performance as follows NTTR Best Caucasus PG Normandy worst AS I say you need to tweak settings until they work for you as best as possible.
  21. Nor does your post, QED
  22. Perhaps time to think outside the box. This is true not only for the Hornet, it seems people loose sight of the real problem and would rather have their precious shiny model pixel perfect and FM 110% perfect, where as the DCS engine is broken there is so much that doesn't work it's almost laughable, it's 9 months on with 2.5.x and we still don't have the same performance as 2.2. Surely this needs to be fixed before anything else? Just saying.
  23. Okay for a while now DCS has really not utilised the available 11GB of VRAM on my 1080Ti in that usually DCS only uses 5 to 6 GB for pretty much all the maps. So lately I have been using task manager to do some fine tuning and maybe convince my self that I don't need no fancy smancy 2080Ti upgrade. Which I can't afford at this time. Well I noticed that if I start DCS and jump into a mission I'd use yes that's correct 5 to 6 GB of VRAM kinda under utilising the Graphics card but if I jump into a multiplayer game I'd use well most of the 11GB well atleast 10GB of it yah! But if I then jump into a local PC mission DCS would also use around 10GB of available VRAM, even loading up a different map? I'm just wondering if this is something from the changes to memory usage, I mean we all had to use only 8GB of system memory with some lower amount of VRAM and so forth but I have 64GB of system RAM sitting there waiting to be used and 11GB of VRAM waiting to be used and I get it that many do not have this but really? So why after a system restart should the system resources revert back to a minimalist level?
  24. Unfortunately the Logitech 3D pro has a sort of dead spot programmed into it as well, it's probably not so bad for the BS 2 but it certainly can be a problem for the light and responsive Gazelle. I expect most (if not all) the joysticks will have some form of dead spot built in to supplement the mechanical center detent although I have not gone and tested all joysticks. I also started with a 3D pro but as I progressed I kinda found it somewhat limiting so I modified it, a lot. :D Using the Leo Bodnar USB interface go rid of the pesky center dead spot. Here is my V-Sim Pit it's a WIP I pretty much only fly heli's and it feels pretty good as far as cyclic control input goes at least for a light heli like the Gazelle but I really do not need to use trim, actually I don't use trim. Commercial alternatives are out there but because of the limited market they tend to be hand crafted or very small operation and of course that makes them expensive or there are controls aimed at actual pilot training which also makes them expensive. :P If you don't already have get a set of pedals again for some reason they also have a mechanical center detent but really help a lot. If I were to look at commercially available probable VPRIL or TM Warthog
