Yes sorry, corresponding drop in frame rate is what occurs.

FWIW The PG map is fairly GPU hungry in order of map efficiency. NTTR by far the most efficient map very rare occasional stutter. Caucasus not as efficient as NTTR occasional stutter. PG hits 100% GPU usage at times just flying around. Stutters fairly regularly. Normandy hits 100% GPU usage more often than PG in same circumstances. Stutters a lot. Method set DCS settings to use average 70% GPU 3D usage which will vary up and sometimes down depending on situation, however the GPU average load is higher as per the above map order. This is keeping settings the same in all tests, lowering the MSAA to 2 from 4 will improve the situation in the other maps but TBH they don't look so good when I do that. System i7 5930 @ 4.7GHz 64GB DDR4 @ 2.4Ghz 8*8GB 1080Ti @ 1.97GHz SSD for OS and DCS Rift VR Memory usage can hit 16 plus GB for me with DCS (overall system usage) but I can't say if there would be any difference going from 32GB to 64GB game wise but the X99 mother board can use dual channel with all slots loaded which speeds RAM operations up a bit.

Joystick Dead Zone and the Gazelle (MS FFB 2 and Logitech G940)
FragBum replied to Drakoz's topic in SA-342M Gazelle
Okay it has to be a glitch with installed files or a setup problem I use a home made cyclic no center detent but has resistance to movement and a Leo Bodnar USB controller and as soon as I move off the center position of roll and/or pitch there is an immediate and proportional control asserted on the Gazelle roll and/or pitch. I can understand that it would be frustrating, have you tried to un-install and re-install the Gazelle using the DRM management settings?? -
Joystick Dead Zone and the Gazelle (MS FFB 2 and Logitech G940)
FragBum replied to Drakoz's topic in SA-342M Gazelle
What do you use for cyclic input? Some joysticks have a "hard coded" dead spot over the mechanical center as well, this may contribute to the issue your experiencing with control. :) -
Yes, this artifact exist's in all helicopters yet to check out planes.

Nice  But will the loco's use PFM? :D
-
Correct, however a second hand 1080Ti could be an alternative at the right cost otherwise wait for prices to settle on 2080Ti. :)

Awesome

Joystick Dead Zone and the Gazelle (MS FFB 2 and Logitech G940)
FragBum replied to Drakoz's topic in SA-342M Gazelle
Sorry no experience with T-16000M, However following on from my previous post I have now integrated a Leo Bodnar BU0836X controller as my "cyclic" interface and can assure you there is no dead spot for cyclic input. Do check and ensure that in Options->Misc that the Force Feedback option is NOT selected and Options->Special->342 that the FFB settings for roll and Pitch are set to Zero for both Roll and Pitch when using a non FFB joystick, this is important and can affect the cyclic input for the Gazelle. Also keep in mind the cyclic input for the Gazelle is slightly different to that of Huey/Mi-8 in that it is totally centric in operation, no offset for change of CoG that is there seems to be no offset required from "centre" to balance the Gazelle like you would for the Huey or Mi-8 to bring the aircraft to balance. Which is why any built in dead spot coupled with a mechanical center detent is bad news for the Gazelle. More here for Gazelle cyclic input. From what I understand the MS FFB has a dead spot programmed into the controller and depending on the firmware the G940 may or may not have such a dead spot programmed in to the controller itself refer to the OP in this thread for more info. -
It's all there alright, I remember setting like 80Klm/H wind, problem was NTTR map is like about 2000ft above sea level, taking off in the Gazelle was interesting to say the least but doable far more easier was the Mi-8,.. Try setting 80K/h winds in any map with sea the waves are impressive also add dynamic weather.

Great, that also means the CE II is closer to release,..

Monitoring system performance while flying.
FragBum replied to Alligin's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I use either Task Manager or MSI Afterburner, Afterburner gives a lot more detailed stats but both compete for systems resources whilst running. So generally run only when tweaking DCS, both display about a minute of graph data so if you get a freeze or other issue you can quickly go back to the app display to see what happened. There is also an OSD of various system/DCS stats with in DCS which you can get to by pressing "Left Windows" key and "Scroll Key" the first press gives you basic frame rates, the second more detailed info but it's more for the developers although still interesting. Oh and pressing those keys a third time gets rid of the OSD data. -
Sounds awesome.

is 3200mhz RAM that much better than 2666mhz?
FragBum replied to Bazmack's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Just be sure to check the XMP/RAM Module(s) are listed in the compatibility list for your chosen motherboard. -
AFAIK it's been working but tends to use a lot of CPU/GPU i.e. not as efficient as it was without deferred shading. I am able to run at MSAA = 4 (and have been for some time) if I am prepared to put up with 45fps in Rift and PD at 1.2. Irony here, just noticed it's been 9 months since I upgraded my GPU. Before DCS forced us to use Deferred Shading I could happily get 90FPS MSAA at 8 in Rift with 980Ti and CPU at 4.2Ghz, now with 1080Ti and CPU at 4.7 Ghz and MSAA at 4 I get 45FPS mostly and poorer Rift image quality, but that's progress I guess. :(

Capture game only and not the entire desktop?
FragBum replied to arturojgt's topic in Virtual Reality
I use the Windows 10 xbox recorder records the VR screen but not the desk top. -
Yes but! :music_whistling: I'm no expert however this is what I get, core 5 and it's virtual core, core 11 (zero origin) are near saturated I can tweak settings to alter the total usage slightly but they currently kinda work for all maps.(And that's another story.) What I find is if core 5/11 hit the wall most everything stops until it sorts itself out same as if the GPU 3D hits 100% I get drop frames aka stuttering in VR The periodic nature seems odd could it be core temperature? BTW I just love rendering off RAWS to JPG's (10 to 20MB) files where all cores hit 100% till the job queue is done. :D

Well,..From the DCS F/A-18 page. my bolding. YMMV.
-
Keen to see what you find cheers.

Yes DCS is telling you that there is paid for DLC that can be installed if you click on the icon and it will tell you what it is.

is 3200mhz RAM that much better than 2666mhz?
FragBum replied to Bazmack's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Well of course it's faster but Linus says the improvement is not that great maybe a couple of % if anything depending on the software your running. For me I'd go 32GB at 2666 rather then 16GB @ 3200. YMMV -
M.A.D. So what's the point after Cruise missiles we don't even get a chance to attack. Why stop there. :D
-
Yes less input is more control, especially in the Gazelle.
