Perhaps check that one of the cores isn't hitting 100% DCS only uses a few threads if you look at even Task Manager you'll see one real and one virtual core peddling real hard and the others mostly not doing too much. I have a 5930 6 core i7 @ 4.7Ghz and 1080Ti @ 1.97Ghz 64GB and SSD etc and still according to Task Manger DCS uses maybe 12 to 14% CPU total usage (but 1 core is at 99.x% usage) seeing that you have a 3GHz clock I'm pretty sure you will have bottle neck on that single core doing most of the work. To improve VR usage I usually dial down the settings so that the CPU sits at around 12 to 14% (aka almost 100% for the one core doing all the bloody work,.. :music_whistling:) and the GPU averages around 70%. I find with some head room like that drop frames are not usually a problem however I find I get drop frames as soon as GPU hits the wall at 100% Multi player on the other hand adds more variables to the equation. ;) I say Task Manager as MSI after burner tends to give the impression that there is a lot of multitasking going on where as I do not believe that to be the case under DCS. YMMV

Yes they will have different id's according to the site and IIRC there might be a way to give the USB boards a custom name,. At work ATM

You don't want any cantre detent for heli's if your handy with tools I went down a different path got rid of the detent and added dampers to provide resistance to movement and enough holding ability to maintain position when I let go to drive the mouse or keyboard. Also don't need to use trim at all. The other gotcha is from what I gather "joysticks" have a built in dead zone in the electronics which is a PITA especially for the Gazelle. I got around this by using the gimbal from my old Logitech and a Leo Bodnar USB controller, works an absolute treat, all the helicopters are an absolute pleasure to fly. Got collective prototyped and functional, now working on my own cyclic and pedals. :joystick: More info here

Have you tried to uninstall the nVidia driver and re-install? If there is an error code lookup the MS site for a solution.
-
It will usually refer to a specific version, you could try to uninstall the version the errors and reinstall the version from Microsoft. Maybe down load the specific runtime version before ready to re-install.

Default 'user curve' axes have massive initial spike
FragBum replied to Lixma 06's topic in MiG-29 for DCS World
It's a combination of dead spot and the offset of the most left adjustment you have set. I just checked and as soon as you adjust any of the fadders away from it's linear transfer curve value you get spikes of some form. What are trying to achieve with "Custom" curves? -
I don't want to hijack the thread and we briefly touched on this in another thread a short time ago however I have to point out for the cyclic input a "joystick" presents some issues. Happy to discuss in another thread, perhaps this one.

Good to know Borchi and Jester986, yes I understand the severity and figure the modeling is very good then. I do appreciate what one can do in a sim vs real life, no matter how many times we push the boundaries we get to walk away. I've not noticed shaking (busy sh#tting my virtual pants at the time :D) but the sudden roll and nose up which becomes a full roll in nought seconds flat. Left cyclic and nose up to bleed speed. Appreciate the answers thanks.

Yes I know what it is thank you I have read Wagtendonk 's text. :) My question is, and yes it gives the impression of exceeding VNE for me as far as the sim goes, but is that what it is like approximately? I guess more to the point is it say as realistic to evade it much like VRS if you get it early enough?
-
Hi All I've been doing some more practice in the Gazelle (minigun ver) and I find I'm getting into, well, a tad above VNE in some maneuvers. The situation feels good as far as the Gazelle feels and the urge to roll right gets stronger until you either bleed off speed, yes you've got to catch it early or I make an unscheduled and somewhat impromptu landing, well you know what I mean. So my question is although it "feels" right, can anybody confirm the behavior?

Gazelle ...what is needed to get the auto hover kicking in!?
FragBum replied to Frag's topic in Polychop-Simulations
@OP A short video dropping in and out of Auto Hover. Starting in manual hover you'll see the increase in toque when engaged and a similar drop in toque when disengaged. There is also wind so the slip indicator is no use, don't fixate on a reference but use "them" as tools to judge aircraft position. When engaged the Tuque Gage goes up by about 10% and of course your controls no longer respond till disengaged. I just give the the pedals a bit of a wiggle as a check, be aware there is some drift in Auto Hover mode. Also if you haven't already do map the Auto Hover to a button as suggested this will save taking a chance with the keyboard. :D -

FragBum replied to Frag's topic in Polychop-Simulations
Yes that explains it's dependence on AP cheers. -
See if you can get the dcs.log file from C:\users\USER\savedg games\dcsVERSION\logs\dcs.log Might help find the problem.

Gazelle ...what is needed to get the auto hover kicking in!?
FragBum replied to Frag's topic in Polychop-Simulations
Alright Gizzy is correct the conditions a very broad (as in broader than a barn door) to drop into "auto hover" perhaps look for the toque indicator jumping up by about 10% which indicates that Auto Hover is engaged. Mind the slip indicator is of no use to indicate position with wind. :) Also as "Auto Hover" is a cheat I find it odd that you can't engage it with AP off I mean it's not a real feature so modeling it to be dependent on "real" systems doesn't make sense to me. -
Gazelle ...what is needed to get the auto hover kicking in!?
FragBum replied to Frag's topic in Polychop-Simulations
No vertical or horizontal movement well very very little. AP needs to be on for "auto" anything to work. -
Yes this although it takes a bit to get your head around at first.

Sure but for a noob it's amazing how quick 1000ft/min becomes 2000ft/min when approaching for a landing I'm assuming they are also slowing air speed so as to land at some determined point, they will find themselves running out of height and power. Kinda setting themselves up for creating another crater.:D
-
As nice as fast descents are, for a noob I'd keep VSI at or below 500/min starting 1000ft/min will get a noob into VRS real fast which will no doubt accelerate the landing process but not allow the pilot to actually get a feel for coming out of ETL or transitioning into IGE from OGE. I'd suggest slow at first get a feel for what happens and what inputs are needed to maintain control of the aircraft. Don't get me wrong some of the descriptions are great but there is a lot to take in. @OP a lot of the inputs will become automatic e.g. you'l notice a bit of yaw or roll and you will simply correct for it without thinking about it with practice. Happy to jump onto a server if times work out.
-
IIRC and I haven't tried this recently but when your in the left seat set the aircraft flight and attitude up and the "auto pilot" engages when you lower the sight and disengages when you raise it. The mode you select is the mode it engages.
-
I would for something I specifically wanted, given there is a lot of work involved just looking at skins for aircraft that I have seen.

Yeah I started with only a logitech 3D Pro and that lasted for a couple of tortious days,...Then I started refining things to make them actually work as they should WIP. @ Wrench I would have said the Gazelle was the easiest to hover as I've spent more time in that one and done more pickups and set downs than all the other helicopters. It's also the only helicopter I can get inverted in and still land it (almost every time). :D @ Havremonster more then happy to jump on to say aerobatics server and take you through the basics, do you have Teamspeak? (anyone else as well depending on time and commitments etc.) Keep in mind whilst I think the Gazelle is easy to operate I have put many hours into her and thats after starting with the Huey/Mi8/Ka50. There was a time when I hated the Gazelle it would kill you in the blink of an eye for not paying attention to her. Expecting to fly any helicopter well after only a few hours might be a little unrealistic. The Gazelle can be very frustrating but for me it's the most rewarding when I get it it right. Almost getting it,..:D

Modified Logitech 3D Pro, no centre detent.
FragBum replied to FragBum's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Well it's been a while and I've been a bit slack at Frag Labs however I'm moving forward with the pedals and hopefully will be able to mock up a prototype soon. Basic concept Interesting TIGing Duragal that zinc migrates quickly,.. Just gotta order the dampers to provide some resistance,.. :pilotfly: -
So what do you use for control inputs? Your controls setup can impact badly especially on the Gazelle. Do you have pedals, collective and cyclic input or maybe just a joystick only? It's about as easy to hover as any other helicopter in DCS. :)
-
Thank you for responding, we do get skeptical when people make general arguments about the Gazelle. From experience most (not all) that complain about the Gazelle FM are just from ignorance or poor equipment setup and not from real world experience. Also understand the language issue. Cheers Frag.
