  1. Piper L4 Grasshopper would get my vote, perfect match for Normandy.
  2. I'm having a bit of trouble trying to get audio mirroring working with DCS and the rift, so I can send the sound signal to a bass shaker as well as the headset. I have project CARS2 working through both devices, but you can select different sound devices from within the game. DCS doesn't seem to have anything like that, and when I enable mirroring in Oculus settings, and set windows to use the speakers, the sound only comes through the speakers. Any ideas?
  3. After trying many time to land my Harrier on the aircraft carrier off the Normandy coast, I can confirm it's possible to sink to the bottom of the sea and then keep on going under the 3-D model of the sea bed, and you can look back above you to see the ships far above your head. Unfortunately by that point you've lost control of the aircraft though
  4. Only two more Fridays left in January, and that's when the good stuff usually comes out. I love Normandy, but I find the landscape is a little samey as the terrain there is so flat, also I don't think Nevada always looks its best at my favourite flying height of 500 feet, so it will be nice to have some shiny new hills and mountains to fly round. I'm also hoping that the airbases have received some tlc, with a bit more going on in the various locations, but it looks lovely on the videos. Not long until we find out anyhow. Of the three available terrains, the Caucasus map is my personal favourite so I'm very much looking forward to what's in store.
  5. Is it me or does that thing just look too big for comfort?
  6. I hope we get that Nasa livery for the F-18, I like it
  7. Amazing work there mate I bet you are looking forward to the next module coming out.
  8. Yeah it works fine for me, happy with DCS in VR. You could always have more power but it's smooth enough.
  9. I can recommend the VKB pedals, great piece of kit for helicopters and the Spitfire. Lack of toe brakes can be an issue with any modules or other sims that need it, but it's not a major problem.
  10. The nice thing about having a place on the forum for these skins is that there can be some discussion and questions about the work. It's helpful for people to get feedback about their designs, and it's an organised way of pooling resources.
  11. Pedals make a massive difference for helicopters, the whole experience becomes much more realistic.
  12. It's a good feature. I play a lot of project cars, and you can adjust world scale in real time from the pause menu, and just one or two percent makes quite a difference to how big the cockpit feels. You don't need it that often, but when you do you are very glad of it. It will be a welcome feature to have in DCS, thanks for implementing it.
  13. Hi Joey, I downloaded your skin pack, the original designs you have done look absolutely perfect in terms of colour. I saw a youtube video that used your skins and it looked a little different, as if the grey comes out a bit light and the green has a bit of a blue cast. Do you find that colours can get altered from your original design a little once they are in the game engine? I've done a few skins for racing games and one or two for X-Plane, but I haven't done anything for DCS. What's your opinion?
  14. Ah yes, I saw those they are nice. I suppose I have this memory of gritty grey sky footage of the Falklands war, yours look really nice and clean, which is probably more accurate. I'll download those and add them to the game. Cheers.
  15. Is anyone working on a Falklands war style Harrier skin? I can't find anything here, and I realise it's a different model, but if no one is doing one I might have a go myself.
  16. As Scotty might say, 'Ye cannae change the laws of physics' https://epxx.co/artigos/pinhole_en.html Basically, it's perfectly normal and can't really be avoided, unless you get a rift.
  17. Is it a function on the real helicopter or a game function?
  18. Sorry for not getting back to you guys yesterday, we had a visit from our son-in-law, an ex British army helicopter pilot, so I let him loose on the Huey, Spitfire and the Harrier in VR. He's only had a go on the DCS Huey once before for about ten minutes, never flown the Spit or the Harrier. The words 'duck to water' sprang to mind as he took off in the Spitfire, flew for 10 mins around Normandy, then when the engine blew up, he landed it back on the airstrip with no power on his first attempt. That's what a few million quid worth of taxpayer's money spent on training and equipment gets you. He enjoyed flying all three modules, said it was just like being back at work.
  19. I still use my monitor for setting up controls on new modules and for designing missions, but for flying, it's not a patch on the rift. For anyone who ever uses their monitor for, er, actual work*, the old 2D still has a few tricks up its sleeve. * In my experience this is best avoided
  20. Might that mean that the newer modules will be compatible with Steam version once more, or is there a different reason for incompatibility?
  21. Nice one thanks, I'll try to upload mine later today. The one unit at a time approach at least got me up and running, I thought it might have been caused by adding the Huey as another client/flyable choice, but I have done that again and both craft fly ok on this one. I'll see how I go later today, but I don't want to waste anyone's time if it just turns out to be 'one of those things'. Thanks for the support anyway.
  22. The video doesn't seem to be working for me, could you do a written description too? I'm on a 21:9 working fine, so I'll try to help. I'm guessing if the image is stretched, DCS is not picking up your native resolution and forcing a normal 1080p res or something like that.
  23. Hi guys, I am trying to set up a simple mission to practise landing the Harrier on the aircraft carrier. The only training missions I can find that come with it are in Nevada, so I have tried to set up a mission in Normandy with just the Tarawa with a few other ships around it just off the coast. I have made a few of these simple missions before and they have been fine in previous versions. Problem is that my mission always crashes within the first minute or so before I get chance to even reach the carrier. I tried changing the Harrier (thinking that might be the issue) for the Huey and it still crashed. This is in 2.2 and I have uploaded crash logs in the relevant thread. So my question is, for those people who have successfully made a mission in Normandy with the carrier, how have you done it and are you flying without the game crashing? Any advice or pointers as to where I might be going wrong would be much appreciated, thanks. Edit: I tried starting again from scratch using exactly the same method, but this time only adding one single element at a time, so far so good, no crashes. You have to love computers
  24. Ah, much obliged, thank you. I've been avoiding having a third DCS install in anticipation of the great 2.5 merge (which would make it 4 installs, even though I guess the others could then be deleted, but that's assuming 2.5 works ok on release). I've been consumed by Project CARS2 for the last couple of months, so haven't been following DCS in as much detail, but my lovely wife has bought me the Harrier for Christmas so I guess I can wait a week or two. Plenty of YouTube stuff to watch in the meantime.
  25. Is there any word on when the Harrier will be available for the stable version? I'm wondering whether I need to set up a third version of DCS and install the beta, but if it's only a week or two, I'll just be patient.
