TBF it does happen in the other maps buts its just a lot worse in Syria. Its not a VR thing either. Everyone comments on how well the map is done but the more I use it the less I agree. Its got a decent amount of detail sure (and a lot of errors with that detail in terms of how it sits in the terrain) but its been hobbled badly in order to keep it even remotely playable. In addtion the draw distances and cascades for many things are just plain odd. It seems to be now just banker that Ugra can extend East and South with paid DLC (the seeds of which may been seen soon in the Normady map). How it perfoms right now appears to be of little interest to them.

(SOLVED - USER ERROR) Has 2.7.10 OB Messed with anyone eles's mods?
Boosterdog replied to Boosterdog's topic in DCS Modding
Thanks for taking time to reply Cowboy - My error. I must have accidentally switched on the Historical Unit button in the ME earlier today when I dropped my mouse. As its not something I use, I didnt notice it. With it enabled, your mod did not show up. Sorry to waste your time. Thanks for the Helo Mods - they are brilliant! -
Long and short - Historical Filter Button had been turned on after I dropped my mouse (duh) Since the last patch, Im encountering an issue in the ME when a good number of mods are not showing up in the lists. So far this includes some items from @LetMePickThat's SAM asset pack (hesco barriers), @prccowboy's UH60 mod and @Breadmaker91's viggen shelter but im sure there will be others. Any existing missions with them in still have them. If I click on them in the map the item appears in the ME list but if I click on something else and it disappears from the editor menu. Just wondering if this is the same for anyone else before I go ripping my install apart... Thanks

Boosterdog replied to Mike64's topic in Problems and Bugs
Im sure you already know but, as a workaround, you can rearm once spawned. -
I admire your optimism too

need track replay Mosquito Handling, what happened?
Boosterdog replied to Bozon's topic in DCS: Mosquito FB VI
The P51 without fuzed bombs has been around for coming up to 10 years. Bomb fuzing has been a bug bear since almost day 1 of the warbirds. 10 years later a module that is almost exclusivley a low level bomb truck is introduced along with "jericho" assets for one of the most famous uses of delayed fuze bombing of the second world war. But the abilty to fulfil its primary task remains "to do". Is 10 years not more than enough time....even by DCS standards? -
I think your 3060 has 12GB of RAM? If is has I wouldnt worry about the cockpit. What Modules are you compairing it against and is that comparision like for like? (Same map, same mission, same alt). I have to be honest I say that what you are getting is what I would expect from a 3060 pushing 1440P with 4x MSAA especially lower down.

Its just how it "feels" to me. All speculation. No evidence whatsoever Im not suggesting ED are the bad guys here either but, given HBs reputation for the quality of its work and the clear effort that has been put into the CV59 (not to mention the images of the Deck Crew that came to nothing) I think something happened to truncate development.
-
SC has consigned the CV59 to become a m'husive Marie Celeste sadly. Cant help but think the SC's very early access (rushed??) release effectively cut the legs off any "CV plus" version HB was going to offer down the line

I dont think either map, with or without mods does low level winter especially well. Only the "other sim" ever made me feel cold in winter and only then on its Moscow and Stalingrad maps.

I find Normandy still a little "off" in its colours and the shadows are not a subtle, positively "sweeping" in front of your eyes. I tend to get drawn to the coast as well. The Channel is definately heavier in performance terms but much of that can be negated by avoiding large built up areas I think. Over built up arears (thanks to @Bossco82) I found a signifcant boost in FPS can be obtained with the slider set as low as 0.65 in the channel map which for very little graphical loss. I need to find some suitably grey European weather settings now.
-
For a long time Ive not really been able to enjoy the Channel Map as its a heavy mutha. Since ive been lucky enough to be able to upgrade recently at MSRP prices Ive taken another look. IMO, for tree skimming helo missions this map is the best of the bunch. Firstly Its detail slider works (the only map the slider really works well on) to help fine tune graphics v playability. Whats more the map's LODs seem well set up (unlike Syria who building pop in very close to the camera). Overall , the map just feels more acomplished than the others (including Syria) Secondly, what appears to be a combination of terrain topology and better optimized shadow tech, results in almost no "huh?" moments (where the shadows glitch from soft to hard and, off the terrain of flicker so often seen in the Caucauses). An important thing for me and my low/slow progress over maps. Finaly, theres the peiod. I left the channel map alone because of this for a long time. I have, but dont use, WW2 modules and assets as they no longer interest me and id put the map into that category. For jets, it remains there but for helos its different. Down low, it doesnt really matter that the towns look period as you rarely encounter them and, if you do they look great at low level. Better still, the French side Airfields have a certain charm that can, with a little dressing, make excellent FARPS/Depots with the appearance of utilising an old airfield. By avoiding the Coast and flying inland, I can also avoid becoming location bound givnig me and my imagination room to envisage a Western European scenario not just a Channel one. All in all my go-to helo green map. But most of you prolly already have found this out for yourselves.

No one has been provided with a video of what you are doing and your trks are broken. The "reasonable" explanation at this point is that you are being too heavy on the collective or your collective's axis is glitching/incorrectly set up. After an initial period (ususally the duration of the start up and taxi mission) most, if not all of us fly the Hind without gemnerator failure. IWithout a working trk file or a video showing the full start up procedure and the controls at the time of failure Im not sure any further help can be given.

not planned Move the C-47/DC-3 out of the WW2AP
Boosterdog replied to Tank50us's topic in DCS Core Wish List
It depends on your imagination limits I guess. I could see its use as airfield "dressing" and perhaps as an AI to escort/intercept/cargo transfer in drug running/developing world/back of beyond scenarios (provided there are skins for such) I dont thnk it should be free though. I agree with @Mike_Romeo and would add that it would not even be in DCS without its promised, albeit late, inclusion in the WW2AP (currently $14.99). For the price of a (decent) Kebab and a beer, even if I only used it to create 3 or 4 decent 70s/80s fictional missions, I dont think its a high price. (EDIT - though it should be free with the WW2 maps these days) -
Syria and Moose - A2A Despatcher problems
Boosterdog replied to Boosterdog's topic in Mission Editor
Initally the Tactical display feature wotked. Then it didnt but the CAPs still worked. Then the CAPs stopped. Sometimes the QEFs take off, sometimes not (although the trend tends to a one way street of degredation with no return) The PG mission stopped working after my OP and 4 days of working perfectly, the Caucauses still works at the moment. I rebuilt a Syria mission from scrath and it worked. Next day it didnt. I rebuilt a mission in PG from scratch without MEP not only did the CAP fail but the Skynet display failed to work from the outset. So far, even if the A2AD isnt firing, the Skynet worked however in the last PG mission I set up, I couldnt be sure if that also failed as the output showed only the first line of the IADS (its name) and nothing else. I have another DCS issue where the game shows "not responding" in the Task Manager every few seconds. I dont know if the isues are linked and cant really spare the time to check at the moment as I have a very poorly dog I need to watch like a hawk. I dunno if its Moose, Skynet, DCS, me or what. THe attraction of scripts has somwhat dimmed and as a single player, I'll likely avoid them in future missions and go back to ME functions and triggers (not that they are 100% reliable) -

In CPG front cockpit . OPEN SIGHT DOORS ?
Boosterdog replied to DmitriKozlowsky's topic in DCS: Mi-24P Hind
Its explained in the Tutorial though I think only once so you dont really get much chance to practice the procedure unless you go through it yourself from the start. -
Never knew they had a wrap around version of the SEA scheme. Nice pictures. Thanks

The F-4 video I about wore to death in the VCR
Boosterdog replied to LanceCriminal86's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
Just as they thought the missle would replace the gun, so they thought the TR808 would replace the drummer - this music is testament to that folly! -
Asking for help and if anyone has experiened similar. I noticed recently small "stops" in the mouse movment when creating missions and dragging units. I cant say when this started as Ive always out this down to me using a Wifi mouse. Whilst checking something else however I saw that DCS periodically goes "not responmding" in Task Manager every few seconds. Whilst there is no definate patern the "tick" is regular and occurs every 4-6 seconds sometimes in isolation, somtimes in twos and threes in quick succession. This tick co-incides with the stutter in the ME. At present I cannot tell if it affects game play as my home is given over to a very poorly dog who needs a lot of uncluttered floor space. Watching AI however, the gameplay appears ok if full screen is used and engaged. In windowed mode the image breifly flicks to desktop when the tick occurs but only in external view and only the footer element at the bottom of the screen. No other game I have installed does this. only DCS. No other apps and displaying this behaviour. I dont have any third party malware apps but defender is on. DCS is defined within the Firewall. DCS repair and Saved games files re-created fresh o no effect. Power managment disabled/enabled - no effect. Any ideas? DxDiag and LOG attatched DxDiag.txt dcs Log.log

It is now only a question of time before he too gets his own wishlist thread. As Kurgan once said "there can be only one" (sadly he was wrong - there was a sequal). In any case he's based in Ireland for tax reasons (Santa not Kurgan).

The only way I think you're gonna be good is with a Hind and a highly trained squad of bird strangling Spetsnaz or a couple of SEALs (the two legged shooty kind not the clappy ork ork ones...though then again) on the wings of the Apache.........which is such a great idea Im gonna start a new wishlist all of my own just for it!
