The current cockpit is High Res. It was redone about 12-18 month back.

just stop now.

So "no" then. You really need to need to stop with the semantics. We know what we mean by wipers working. Any reasonable schmuck would know it to. And it isnt going back and forth to zero effect. We shouldnt need to back you in a corner and beat it out of you.

Hotel Signs Blurry with Details at Max
Boosterdog replied to rhinofilms's topic in DCS: Nevada Test and Training Range
Ah the mysteries of what the settings are supposed to do and what they acutally do -
I wasnt the one asking But I agree with what you say. I was going to put something similar but the OP asked about the manuals specifically. I think like most I muddle by with the Chuck Owl guides and You Tube withut delving into the minutia of the flght manuals. But I dont fly "to the book" so each to their own . Hope he sees Maximov's post.

The problem is your ferrari still has only 2 seats. Syria is very much a Lambo Urus kinda map. Bear in mind that 32GB is Syria's floor. Itll eat everything you throw at it and still go to bed hungry. Many are running 64GB now (perhaps something the reseller who gave you the poor advice may be open to helping you with by way of making amends). Fury Beast.......what on earth do the marketing guys smoke.......

Id start by deleting your FXO and Metashaders 2 folders in the your Saved Games/DCS folder. If that dosent resolve it, clear out/disable any mods and do a repair. This is mine -
2.5 will give you better performance but it wont give you anything released (modules or core features) in the past 12 months.
-
That crossed my mind too - we already have wroking wipers in the other helos, they just dont clear the screen! @BIGNEWY are you able to clarify what "working" means? Thanks

After youve purchased the module you open DCS (with internet access), log on with your username as per your main DCS account and look for the icon that looks like a rubic cube on the main screen (at the top). That should hve a little red number showing you have modules to install. Click on the icon and Install them from there. Manuals are kept in the "Doc" folder of each module. The DCS manual iself is stored in the DCS main directory "Doc" folder. Modules are generally installed in the "Mods" folder in the main game directory and in each module's own folder you will find its manual in the "Doc" folder. EDIT - in addition to the DCS manuals, look for CHUCK OWLs guides. These will get you going much faster and then you can dig deeping using the big book later if you prefer.

Its the only thing that would stop me hankering after a full fidelity SU25

Wheels in the wing not the fuselage, waste high wing roots not shoulder high, nose cone in the centre of the intake not above it, 2 more wing pylons than an F8 (??). Couldnt say its an SU22 but I would say its not an F8. SVKSniper was pretty well on with his wonderful looking SU17 M4. I hope this dosent derail that.

Performance issue in high-unit missions
Boosterdog replied to TheHoff's topic in Game Performance Bugs
Triggered actions and AI route finding can be problematic as they cause spikes in the CPU use. As Speedofheat has already said, DCS is core limited. Even "official" missions can suffer from this. The MI24 distaster relief mission is the worst culprit i know right now. Its not an especially heavy missiion but stutters along as units go active, route find and trigger. It been pointed out to me that is a graphically heavy mission, but even now Im able to run it at over 120 fps on meduim settings, when something triggers, everything stops. Hopefully the migration to multicore planned for DCS will improve matters but this is currently nothing more than vapour with no roadmap and no current indication of implmentation. -
Without switching all your setting to lower ones there isnt a decent solution other than more RAM. Syria eats RAM and is not optimized (not that optimization is a virtue of DCS) in the same manner most of the other maps are. 32GB is the accepted floor for this map. Its a pretty heavy map graphically too but my old 1080 could run lighter missions on it with medium setings pretty well. Its system requiments should reflect this and kinda do in that for heavy missions it recommends 32GB RAM. The trouble is EVERY mission in Syria is a heavy one! Depending on what you are doing, lowering your preload may help a little but i think it would be marginal. Sorry I cant help you further. Hopefully someone else can.

I go back to my original stance - the more the hip is left alone the better it remains.

I love DCS. It thrills me and it frustrates me in equal measures. I also know that its all about "persective" @Fastbreak To play DCS I spend a good deal of money. This year alone I think the DCS will weigh in at just over £1.8K. Over the past 5 years Id estimate it cost to me is about £5-6K. I currently earn £25K and I have a family that, despite my best efforts, seem to want to stick around. So what i would like is some certainlty along with the teases (which I also enjoy). More regular updates on the core featues, multicore and vulkan etc. Id also like to see some more of concerted effort to engage with the community on those bugs that are clearly bugs. A reported tag is all fine and dandy but really most of us see such as a "shut up". Keep us in the loop. We are, afterall, kinda important to your contined income. Since 2.5 the price of admission has gone up - a lot. Now we have to make big financial choices to stay in the DCS arms race. Ultimately I just want to know the money Im choosing to spend now in order to buy the modules ED is pushing now is going to be worth it. Yeah Im needy. But i think I have a right to be given the cost of all this. I like mystery but i dont want just mystery. Mystery is only fun when there is some degree of certainty. Currently the only certainlty is that there is no real certainty. All first world issues and personal choice I know. I dont want to appear ungrateful but equally, sometimes i do feel taken for granted. Happy New Year

DCS frames crash unless there is a frame rate cap enforced
Boosterdog replied to Boosterdog's topic in Game Performance Bugs
So it appears a frame rate cap - any frame rate cap - solves the issue. Title changed -
I think the solution rests with the Devs. Its simply not the helo map it should be. But its not all Ugra. DCS isnt exactly helo friendly either.

Broken FPS when threshold is reach (CPU limitation)
Boosterdog replied to mastah's topic in Game Performance Bugs
I did some more experimenting. Seems a cap - any cap n the NCP- prevents my frames from crashing - even as high as 300 is fine. Remove the cap and a drop to 50 fps is guaranteed. -
Broken FPS when threshold is reach (CPU limitation)
Boosterdog replied to mastah's topic in Game Performance Bugs
Yes you are right. Its not a 200fps hard cap. The more I increase the graphics and the slower the fps climbs on a spike the higher maximum fps I can get. There is certainly something amiss though and its not a system thing. -
