Potential Problem - DCS storing files and using HDD space
cthulhu68 replied to Hawkeye_UK's topic in General Bugs
My directory is different. Windows C / Users / Default.migrated / AppData / Local . No DCS folder in there and no AppData or Local folder under "My Name". -
I'll assume this means you've set up custom cockpit view but it doesn't seem to get saved. When you start a mission it will always start with the default cockpit view. If you adjust zoom and/or seat height and press R ALT+Num0 your custom view will be saved but you now need to press View Center and Zoom Normal to get back to it when looking around or when you start new mission. I have these 2 commands along with zoom in/out slow set up on 4way on throttle for all modules so I can easily snap back to normal view while looking around.
-
What stick and throttle are you using? Do keyboard inputs and mouse work? Do TF-51 and SU-25 controls work? I would try a Repair on DCS. Next try renaming Saved Games / DCS folder to DCS backup. When you restart DCS it will build a new one with default options, settings, configs. ( windows C / Users / your name / Saved Games / DCS ) Now try setting controls up again. One thing I've seen on a few occasions is setting up inputs in the main menu may work but pausing in game and setting up inputs wont and vice versa so try both in game and at main menu.

The P51 has 2 different control layouts (easy and real). Easy is for game mode and real for simulation mode. Under Options / Gameplay there are settings for game flight and game avionics. If you have one of those selected (forgot which) it will switch you to easy control layout. If you want to play simulation mode make sure you set up the real control layout and don't have game mode and game avionics selected. Also go through controls list and clear anything bound twice. Click on the dropdown menu that says "All" and go to axis assign and check there for double binds.

units not moving (again)

It would be nice to know why this happened and if broken routes can/will be fixed or if at some point we'll have to rework them ourselves. -
Help with install of first module, DCS World version
cthulhu68 replied to puyo3's topic in New User Briefing Room
How to always run a program in administrator mode in Windows 10 https://www.cnet.com/how-to/always-run-a-program-in-administrator-mode-in-windows-10/ This walks through the process easily but this is just for running the program. Don't think this is going to help in modifying program files. To do that you would right click on DCS World folder / Properties / Security and there you can modify User to full control.I Don't recommend you do that though. If a program is telling you not to do something you probably shouldn't. -
Help with install of first module, DCS World version
cthulhu68 replied to puyo3's topic in New User Briefing Room
I think its best to keep DCS Program folder clean. For liveries add a "Liveries" folder to Saved Games / DCS folder and add folders for each aircraft you have skins for making sure theyre named the same as in DCS Install folder. For the A4 mod the" A-4E-C" folder goes into Saved Games / DCS / Mods / aircraft folder. -
Help with install of first module, DCS World version
cthulhu68 replied to puyo3's topic in New User Briefing Room
The main difference between 1.5 and 2.5 is ram usage. The 2.5.6 update has given some people performance issues but they should be able to get it working better. I don't use VR so not sure how well your set up would work in 2.5 with VR but it would be fine for 2D. Most people would recommend 32 gigs of RAM for multiplayer or VR in 2.5 I think but that doesn't mean unplayable. Simpler missions in single player or lowering settings a bit could work. As Draconus pointed out the Anton can only be used in 2.5 but also the Normandy map or any other map for that matter. (free Marianas map and Channel map coming soon) All modules, maps, and campaigns do list what version you need in the store. -
Help with install of first module, DCS World version
cthulhu68 replied to puyo3's topic in New User Briefing Room
Hi and welcome to the forum. Installing DCS is as easy as downloading it and running it however there are a couple things that can cause issues. Anti-virus sometimes doesn't play nice with it so adding DCS to allowed/white list is one thing and also setting DCS to run as administrator (right click on DCS desktop option to change this). Once you start up DCS you should see a window pop up in module manager telling you what modules you own and can install. Without knowing your PCs specs hard to say which version to go with but running VR in 2.5.6 will take more than a "modest, lower end" system. -
Have you tried manually changing your aspect ratio, height, and width in the Options LUA? ( found in Saved Games /DCS/ Config )
-
It seems to work with mk82/mk82se loudouts but not with other loadouts (mk20/mav) for me. Or maybe just randomly not working.:dunno:

[RESOLVED]Not possible to log in DCS Beta ...
cthulhu68 replied to LaRata's topic in Installation Problems
There have been a lot of issues with anti virus and 2.5.6 update. Try disabling AV or see if it quarantined DCS files. -
Another thing is if you have cannon armed (gun select,C) you cant select other weapons. You have to disarm it then select pylons.

I have nvidia AA set to "enhance application setting" and it seems to work.
-
I guess if people were expecting it to look and feel totally different they might be disappointed but I think it looks much better. All of the cringy graphics were remodeled, AP lights fixed, and mirrors added. Cant find any control inputs to turn mirrors on though.

[RESOLVED]Need to reinstall every couple of days
cthulhu68 replied to Player 1's topic in Installation Problems
Is DCS on your anti-virus allowed list? Try renaming your Saved Games / DCS folder and restart. It will build a new one and show if something in there is an issue. -
A lot of people have had issues updating with anti-virus on, namely Kapersky. There are several threads on this under DCS World 2.5 / bugs/ installation, I assume. Trying to update with mods installed also can cause issues.
-
When you start up DCS the version you're running is shown in lower right corner of main menu. Since you just downloaded it and installed A10c they will be the same current version. On Friday the latest update brought it to 2.5.6 so this is what you should see in lower right corner. Whenever you update DCS the core and all modules installed get updated. Was this installed on pc you used before for DCS? If so an older DCS Saved Games folder could be causing your problem. Not sure what you mean by UFC display popping up though. A screenshot of what it is might help. Do you mean the MFCDs? They pop up when you switch to HUD only view or if you're in game mode/game avionics other displays are on screen.

Aahhh. Nice to have a gray TGP again.

When selecting your aircraft or any other active unit on F10 map all logistics are missing in pop up window.
-
To attach log click on "go advanced" and use paperclip icon at top to browse and upload a zipped folder with logs.

Yeah Mig29K or a carrier based version that came out before it. (SP I THINK) is my best guess.

Most reliable HOTAS/joystick for DCS?
cthulhu68 replied to Mjm8710's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
If reliability and price are what youre looking for Id recommend CH Products. Kind of archaic technology ( weighted throttle to make resistance and non-gimbal stick) but known for durability. I've had mine over 4 yrs and have only had to crimp/tighten the the terminals inside stick a couple times. -

Ok. Yeah, I think I saw parts of 2 different videos. Looks like everythings pretty far along on the Kiowa. Can't wait for next update. -
Polychop Simulations OH-58D Kiowa
cthulhu68 replied to Polychop Simulations's topic in DCS: OH-58 Kiowa
I had thought the Kiowa FM would be the like the Huey, generally speaking, but after seeing a livestream it seems very responsive, fast, and stable more like KA50. Is that what we can expect it to fly like or is FM still WIP?
