I voted yes, but more for the ability to be a gunner not really for bomber modules. My thought is something like combined arms that lets you play a support role in a variety of things like ac130s, bombers or helos.

Main menu /options /special / f18. Uncheck realistic slew to not hold down button. Can you slew targeting pod? Do you have mini joystick on throttle you can set up with x,y axis for slewing instead of 4way?

Are you uncaging maverick? Also. There is an option now that allows you to slew without holding tdc depress on special options page for f18.

Not to talk him out of 1080 ti but those are still pretty expensive. Depends on what the budget is although 1080 and 32gigs of ram and youre in good shape. I typically get 40-60 FPS with 970gtx. If Im flying ovet giant forest and artillery going off or a lot going on might drop to 30fps.

I got my pc built from Cybertron PC. They have a lot of pre built models and you can customize or upgrade any of them to fit budget. Not much more than DIY builds and comes with zero bloatware. OS and Word were only 2 things on it when I got it.

Although not as familiar with AMD cpu and gpu they seem on par with an I5/i7 and gtx 970 4gig card like I have.Im able to run at pretty high settings but not maxed out with all eye candy on. The sim really gobbles up ram so I would consider, skipping a track day or two and getting more ram or better graphics card or make sure motherboard can be upgraded with more ram in future but keep in mind that can be a waste of money to replace 8gig with 16gig sticks. I own a Ducati so Im familiar with how much you can spend at the track in a day. A few hundred more now and dont have to worry about ram later.

Yes, but you don't need to fire right away. I like to fire it at 10-13 seconds before impact. Also you need to maintain visual with target on TGP screen so as to ensure lasing properly. If you cant see target neither can laser.

The config files can get corrupted. Try moving your joystick LUA file to desktop, restart game,and go into control settings to create new LUA and see if you can set it. Saved Games/DCS/Config/Input/F18/Joystick When assigning slider to thrust are you selecting it in dropdown or physically moving slider all the way up and down to get it to register?

Have you tried setting it up in game? Sometimes there are issues setting up controls in options menu and other times issues setting up in game.

Are you playing in sim mode and using real control layout? Are you setting up controls in options menu or in game? Sometimes only one or the other works. To save set up dont use save/load profile at top of page just click OK at bottom right and it will set up profile in config folder. EDIT: Didnt realize this was lock on thread. That's what it was! Cloud density. I knew I had issue with settings. I think its just density 9 when youre above clouds you get it. That has been around for a while but maybe there are other issues going on now too.

Something that works is activating HMD first, aim where you want to search and then uncage SKHVAL/ designate target. It will be ground stabilized.

Try repair, then delete folders and start dcs to make new folders. Am wondering if these are settings issues. I recall fixing flickering clouds with a setting change. Not sure but it might have been view distance. Water looks horrible on low setting too.

Try pulling your MI-8 folder out of Saved Games Config, Maybe somethings corrupted in there and you just have to redo controls.

Since large forest areas are impenetrable to ground vehicles and indestructable not sure how well a jungle map would work.
