Have you tried a repair and/or deleting fxo and metashaders 2 folders in Saved Games/ DCS folder?
-
Correct on the point track part. No on the area track part. Remenber that designator is always going to coordinate at ground level. It doesn't stop when it hits an object. In my crude drawing it shows how point track would designate whole building but designator is continuing through to the ground. With area track I can put my mark at base of building
-
No. You still have to designate a target to establish what you're targeting. You can use area or point tracking for stationary targets. I mention using area for JDAMs since point track targets an entire object. Lets say this object is a 4 story building. In point track your designator is now centered on the 2nd floor of building but is actually continuing down to a set of coordinates on the ground behind the building as if it wasnt there.

They are working on improving textures, trees, and coastlines.

1. Not sure if this answers question but point track basically locks onto a target, even a moving one. Area track allows you to target a spot, like the base of a target. Better for JDAMs. 2. Use cage/uncage command to cage it (boresight) 3. I think we'll get a HUD display at some point. Until then TDC depress can be used to show current location on HUD or switch map to SA mode and you can see its location at any time as you slew it around.

If this was correct you would be able to just keep pressing SSS left to switch back and forth between point and area. Ive been using lower screen for b/w FLIR, not left DDi , but I cant just press SSS down several times to toggle point/area. [EDIT (at the risk of infuriating joey45)] OK. Hadn't tested L DDI before. It does work like that. The lower MFCD doesn't though.
-
No. You still have to press SSS right to switch point/area, but of course that 1st switches you back to right DDI control. Seems like it doesn't always work right , like you have to go back and forth twice to get to point track and back on other screen. Would be nice if point/area track was SSS right (long) instead of the same SSS right (short) command for selecting right DDI. (tested left DDI later...yes that does work)

It should build the folder when you atart DCS for first time if ir hasnt already. May take a little longer to launch.

900 ft burst is recommended

If youre attempting multiple jdams in one pass you just designate a target in TOO mode, then switch to PP mode to save it, go back to TOO and designate another target and once again go to PP mode to save it and stay in PP mode for weapon delivery.

[NO BUG] HARM hitting unit but doing no damage
cthulhu68 replied to DeathAngel1's topic in General Bugs
I mentioned this earlier in thread and I had thought the health of a vehicle needed to be down below 10% to stop functioning but with one HARM and health at what looks like 35% this SA-8 was inoperable. -
I was wondering if dynamic campaign would bring with it a new "dynamic" mission editor or at least new features to current mission editor.
-
So. to be clear is it impossible to just drop 2 jdams from one station on 2 different targets with one press of a button? I can set up pp1 and pp2 and toggle from pp1 to pp2 when in range to drop on 2 targets from same station and it works with 2 jdams on separate stations. Im surprised you cant program 2 bombs from one station for one mission plan.

I've had issues a few times where gbu12s were landing way long like they weren't recognizing target or tracking laser. Thought I had set up everything but realized my problem was assuming tpod was already set for 1688 laser code since its displayed when it starts up. It isn't. You still have to punch in the tpod code for it to work.
-
Oh. I noticed you hit on 5th pass and forgot jtac was lasing 1st pass.
-
There is an issue with high alt bombing not working well (bug I think). Did you fire and hold laser in first pass and when? Its better to hold off a bit on firing laser until bomb starts arcing downward. 12 or 13 seconds before impact was what I recall advice was if possible.
-
I guess I was drunk with power thinking TGP and JDAM would easily take out an SA-8. I got jdam off 3 seconds before being slammed by TORs missile so it ended up a draw.

Hadn't looked at module manager in a while. Guess the rest of them got converted to new drm. -
Transfering to a new PC, question
cthulhu68 replied to JimBeamBlack's topic in Payment and Activation
On older modules that have starforce drm you should deactivate modules since they are tied to pc registry. I would also copy Saved Games folder to tbumb drive and cop over to new one once you re install to transfer your settings, configs, downloaded missions and skins... -

[NO BUG] HARM hitting unit but doing no damage
cthulhu68 replied to DeathAngel1's topic in General Bugs
I've noticed with SAMs and other vehicles that if health bar is low 10% or maybe less they wont work any more but arent "dead". Having this inoperable state start at 20-25% might work as a quick fix, assuming improved vehicle damage model wont be happening soon. -
The new lighting system deferred shading doesn't play nice with in-game MSAA. For most people running at 2x works but any higher and you get huge hit to fps. You can help smooth things out with graphic card 3d settings. For my gtx 970 I get good results adding these AA mode-enhance app setting AA 2x AA FXAA on vsync fast

Doubt this would work with 2.5 version. -
Questions From a Bewildered Beginner
cthulhu68 replied to Blue_Baron's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
You can download DCS either through steam or here in DCS store. Once you do that you need to purchase modules the same way since steam and stand alone are not conpatible. Just decide if you want to use steam or not. 3,4,5,6...yes,not sure,no,yes. If WW2 is your thing you,ll also want to look into Normandy map and Ww2 asset pack which adds ww2 bombers and ground vehicles, etc.
