  1. You mean to see them with your eyeballs? Because the radar really shouldn't see them. There's a reason look-down-shoot-down was highly sought-after
  2. I agree about the rockets, but keep in mind that Blue's HE and HEAT rockets don't really damage anything besides unarmored targets, the S-8 rockets on the Mig and Sukhoi is much better, hence the reason the bomber was used so much. I think there is actually a really good opportunity in this scenario for strategic targets. Imagine each team has a fortified target (an area with factories?) and as long as theirs is alive they get to use A10A's with mavericks / SU25Ts with Vihkrs / Viggen / KA50 from one location. Destroying the other team's target removes their use of said airfield until it is repaired via crate* * you get the idea. At the moment, attacking bases requires heavy use of the bomber, which is not a satisfying experience. We want to blow the stuff up ourselves! So allowing us to unlock more powerful strike aircraft via the completion of a task will encourage even more teamwork and tactics!
  3. I think you're right but the "lots of AI" is relative. Look at the first mission in the SU27 Mozdok campaign or the first mission in the F15 campaign, there aren't really a lot of things going on there and yet those run terribly.
  4. @Verde, I think they fixed upside-down radar thing, so you're not supposed to be able to see other planes against the background clutter easily anymore, regardless of your orientation.
  5. The lag happens when someone joins the server. I think Ciribob knows how to fix it, requires pre-spawning a bunch of things or something, he said. Its great fun so far. Great dogfighting, escorting Hawk's on recon missions. CAS is a royal pain in the arse though, Shilka + Strela is a menace.
  6. Even if a joke, if I did this at my work, I would get a very strongly worded written warning and probably disciplinary action. I feel this sort of answer is not good enough and basically a slap in the face. Imagine: Client: Waiter, this steak has gone bad, you should probably tell management to check on your suppliers else you may lose business. Waiter: Well Sir, rotten meat is OK from time to time, we don't really want clients with weak stomachs here.
  7. I would argue for something similar, but maybe something more like the targets on the Normandy BF where there is something substantial (in size) to aim for like bunkers, groups of trucks, roadblocks and AA positions with ammo trucks.
  8. I don't think anyone has to buy anything to fly Blue Flag (mostly). Presumably at some point the Caucases version will be stable enough to run and the modern era will be back. Can anyone give some advice as to how to attack an airfield covered by 4-6 Shilka + ±4 Strela using only dumb weapons? So far the best way for me to get rounds on target without dying is firing volleys of rockets (76 rockets) from the F5-E but they are ineffectual against moderately armored vehicles like we have here. Do I have to learn to bomb accurately from above 10000ft in the A10A (or Su25)?
  9. That is not a bug per se, if you could see that SAM on the RWR before it locked someone, then you should get the lock warning when it does lock somebody. The RWR detects signals, the direction they come from, and their kind. It can tell that an emitter is in search mode or in track (lock) mode but it cannot tell who is being locked, so it makes sense that everybody gets the lock tone. However, it you should only get the lock warning if your RWR can detect that radar i.e. close enough and within the radar beam.
  10. Thanks a lot Ciri! Its great to have a low-ish tech Blue Flag going. We spent a bit of time trying to attack Creech and like you said, it is very very difficult to do any damage. Basically, without any guided weapons, with the Shilkas and the Strelas (and I guess the same will apply for red), there is almost no reasonable way to get rid of the AAA and SAM, besides using Mortar troops. Suggestion from my side: 1. Replace all Shilkas with ZSU-23-2. 2. Replace IR SAMs at airbases with SA-3 (maybe, or decrease the amount of IR SAMs by a lot and add more harmless targets to make up. 3. Viggen! 4. Limited guided munitions on A10 / SU25 5. See 3.
  11. +1 (and another +1 for the Eagle campaign)
  12. Your CPU is maxing out. Its just hard to see because the DCS process jumps to different cores, so no single one looks like it is being maxed out. Probably not much you can do if its already overclocked and all the CPU intensive effects are turned down.
  13. Mirrors? What does MSI Afterburner show? Quick Mission gen may have a lot of AI driving around which will then cause your CPU to bottleneck the whole system, Afterburner will show what's going on
  14. Which mission? Some missions have pretty low FPS on the ground and goes to above 45 when you fly. Switch off mirrors, they'll kill your fps quick. After that Shadows and MSAA DCS (both versions) runs pretty poorly in VR so don't expect too much.
  15. I know in South Africa the Air Force had quick reaction fighters ready to spool up and go within a minute or two at all times. They would warm up the engines every 20 or 30 minutes and refuel the planes. Pilots had shifts to wait in / near the planes for a few hours at a time and would take off and investigate when the EW picked up an unknown contact.
  16. 90 fps far away from ground yes but mostly it'll lock to 45fps via ASW. Intel i5-7600k@4.7GHz, 32GB, 1070 8GB, Oculus Rift, VR preset, 1.8 PD in 1.5.7
  17. Not in 2.1. My 1070 easily runs at 100% usage with i5-7600k @ 4.7GHz. OP, I'd re-evaluate at upgrade-time what is the fastest GPU available for the budget, get that one.
  18. Average human vision sharpness allows us to see details down to 1 minute of arc (360 degrees in a circle, 60 minutes in a degree). So at what distance does a Mig-21 (seen from the side) subtend 1 min? d*theta = l where d = distance, theta=angle subtended, l=lengh of arc(Mig21 length) d = l / theta = 12.3m / (2*pi / 360 / 60) ~ 42km or 23nm This is the absolute maximum range you can hope to spot a mig-21 at, in daytime, with perfect contrast, in clear conditions, from the side and without extra help like sun glinting off the canopy. So only being able to spot planes below 10nm or even 5nm doesn't seem too bad. On screen they're a bit pixelated, the anti-aliasing causes shimmering and causes them be difficult to spot when they're only a few pixels wide.
  19. @Flightcontrol, there is warping going on when looking at the other clients' planes, its in the very first part of the video. Most likely due to the server taking strain or connection issues or both. OP, you should point to the position in the video you want people to look AND what to look for, posting a 13 minute video without any clue is not helping your cause. Side note:You have mods installed (The RWR sounds different), you should maybe mention all that stuff so that the devs have all the info.
  20. I had this problem too and I'm def on stable.
  21. The effect is not on every mission and maybe not even with lots of units. It may be more specific, look at the Su27 campaign's first mission (The familiarisation flight), that one gives the same 2000ms "lag" / framerate dips. It is in Blue Flag MP (lots of units) also.
